Yeah, I'm a bit flabbergasted by #1. Not that he's undeserving; I just forgot he was in contention, and even if I had remembered I'm not sure I would have expected him to rank that high.

For some reason I thought it might be Umberto D, but I'd forgotten he already showed up (at #36).

A Ryan Seacrest type.
That was unpredictable and cool; thanks for organizing, Russ!

Thanks.

And can we all agree that Mary Zophres should have gotten an Oscar nom for Costume Design for Jeff Bridges' fashion statement?

Faded, stained and torn T-shirt, pajama pants, oversized cardigan, and sandals. Uncannily close to my weekend attire!

Maria ‘Cabiria’ Ceccarelli (Giulieta Masina) – Nights of Cabiria

Fitting given #4 - there's quite a bit of Chaplin in this performance.

Thanks Russ!

That was some task! When you recover Russ, I think you should do this by decade. :)

And yes...it was great fun....even if I disagreed on 14 of the the top twenty. I wouldn't have guessed that #1 would have been #1 in a million years...especially since I think the movie is mostly #2.

Very fun indeed. It was certainly less predictable than the average poll, given the wide net and narrow pool of voters. I second Dirt's "by decade" idea, or some such variation.

Thanks, Russ!

Way fun! Thanks, Russ!

Is it significant that the top 2 were from 1998?

Tonight I think I'll pick Esteban Vihaio.

Another deserter....
"I hear you were driving a truck...."

Ten years later I guess we're supposed to be mortally offended by this white actor's portrayal of an elderly Latino pimp, but I'm just so astonished by the texture and detail of the performance (not to mention its contrast with his earlier role as the very southern sheriff in Vol. 1) that I couldn't even begin to get behind that. He's one of my great screen heroes at this point.
