Really wish I'd rewatched Belle de Jour before the poll closed. I simply kinda forgot about it, then when I finally remembered, I realized it had been too long since I'd seen it to rate it fairly against all the other films, so I left it off.

Of course, it did quite well without me.

I don't know if you're childlike emotions could handle such a tough film, especially since Bunuel's message is obviously that all men should throw mud at and whip their womenfolk.

I know he's had a varied career, but John Boorman will always rank among my favorite directors...he followed this up with Hell in the Pacific, which will surely be high on my '68 list.

So every movie set in L.A. is required to use this location, right?

So yeah, I'm the guy who hates Bonnie and Clyde.

Technically I'm mixed, although I see that Maxime is as well. I've seen it three times and it came up plenty during film studies classes. It is an important film, just hasn't resonated with me.

That's okay. I have to live with myself as the guy who hates (ok, is also mixed on) Playtime.

Aaron, do you like any other of Arthur Penn's films? Night Moves, I guess?

He's hit or miss with me too, tho I loved Mickey One and Little Big Man.

As much as I love Playtime -- and have also seen it three times -- I could see how it would leave someone cold.

At least we have Point Break.

And 1967 is a tremendous year. Cheers.

Yeah, I'm not a fan but some of its eccentricities do appeal to me and I generally like Penn, so I decided not to stop my list at 19 titles.
