Dead Ringers was a fairly late cut for me. Like many from this year, it may have gotten a boost from a re-watch. A lot of them I haven't seen since 1988.

This movie is so strange it might as well be from another planet. Like I'm not even sure it hangs together or makes sense the first time, but something about it creeps in under the skin and stays put. It's the kind of film you're not sure you'll ever watch again, but then immediately re-watch two or three times in as many weeks, trying to figure it out. All of which describes classic Cronenberg to a tee, really. Sorta like the way it reduces me to helpless, miserable, heartbreaking sobs at the end. Isn't that just an '80s Cronenberg thing? The Fly? Anybody?

Anyway, sorry for letting this one down, lads. But then I usually feel that way a time or two with each new list-unveiling. Le sigh.

It may be my favorite performance in a Cronenberg film, with Fiennes in Spider a close second.

32. Tapeheads (Karim #1, Cassius #18)

One of the funniest scenes in my movie history. "Am I crying?"

I'll see your Tapeheads and raise you an Einstein

Spoiler alert! :)

Almost voted for it but Police Storyis better and funnier and that didn't make my list either.

I too have to re-visit a lot of these titles that have made the list so far. For instance, I can not remember almost everything about Bull Durham.

"Hey, girl... can I get a refill?"

Or maybe:

"Only number eleven? Well, better than nothing, I guess. Go with God."

Good job guys! I really didn't think the Chabrol would make the list, much less the top ten. I think Jiggy recommended it to me a few years ago. Tremendous film.
