A Ryan Seacrest type.
233 points is the most since I took over the tallying from Raiders. (I didn't do the years ending in 0, 1, and 2.)

With this, Wes Anderson now has three films that have topped the yearly RTCD polls, joining such luminaries as Kubrick and Tarantino. If Boyhood had won, then Richard Linklater would have entered that group. Everyone's still got work to do to catch up to Hitch, though:

Five Times (the champ):

-Alfred Hitchcock (The Lady Vanishes, Shadow of a Doubt, Strangers on a Train, Rear Window, Vertigo)

Four Times (the challengers):

-Coen Brothers (Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Fargo, Inside Llewyn Davis)

Three Times (the contenders):

-Stanley Kubrick (Dr. Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining)
-Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1)
-Wes Anderson (Rushmore, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel)

Two Times (get to work, fellas):

-Buster Keaton (One Week, Sherlock Jr.)
-Leo McCarey (Duck Soup, Ruggles of Red Gap)
-John Ford (The Grapes of Wrath, The Searchers)
-Roman Polanski (Repulsion, Chinatown)
-Terrence Malick (Badlands, Tree of Life)
-Steven Spielberg (Jaws, Schindler's List)
-Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, GoodFellas)
-David Lynch (Blue Velvet, Mulholland Dr.)
-Richard Linklater (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset)
-David Fincher (The Social Network, Zodiac)

All of those directors at the top do have chances to add to their totals with the upcoming "9" polls (2009, 1999, 1989, etc.). The drama!

If anybody knows, what is the "record" for biggest rebel ballot? In other words, has anyone ever submitted a ballot which contained none of the final top 20...one of the final top 20...etc.?

Sharon, would your hypothetical Top 20 for 2014 not contain any from the final list? Just curious. :)

Two or three, not sure which. It got me wondering, though.
