...Maxime G.'s would be Star Trek...

It would be hard to decide between this and District 9, actually.

Up and District 9 for me because the only things I hate more than space are old people and boy scouts.

Up is actually my choice...as much as I love the opening short film (PRO), after that, it becomes one of the most obnoxious cartoons I can think of in recent years. The talking dog and bird were nails on a chalkboard.

Now y'all are just being bitchy. :)

My only problem with Up is the decision to kill the villain rather than reconcile with him. Too easy. The theme of unburdening yourself of the weight of the past (both your mistakes and unfulfilled aspirations) is just too well integrated to throw the whole thing over.

Though I suppose YMMV.

Russell was a cub scout.

And I'm an old people.

Squirrel!

oh....where was I? Huh? well...never mind.

I always associated cub scouts with the blue uniforms, but after some googling it looks like Webelos get the tan ones. Well, goodie for Russell! I actually am an Eagle scout and soon-to-be old person so mostly sarcasm there. I mostly don't like Up! b/c I find the much-lauded opening maudlin and a bit of cheat and rest of the film increasingly ridiculous. I haven't seen it since theaters so I should probably give it another shot...just not one of my favorite Pixars.

An Eagle Scout? I am seriously impressed and there is no sarcasm there at all.

I was kicked out the Cub Scouts for a reason I've long since forgotten.

Up is not my favorite Pixar either but I'd put it ahead of (heresy here) WALL•E.

Up is a film I like but consider closer to the middle/bottom of Pixar efforts (I agree that the rest of the film can't live up to the opening sequence). It's more the relative weakness of this year that had it creeping up my list to the Top 10. In most years it would probably be in the lower half of my list.

Wow, I can't believe what I'm reading. Normally, I'm not a fan of sci-fi and Pixar, but District 9 is an all-time favorite (although Blomkamp might be a one-hit wonder) and Up just slays me, and it's funny. Second only behind WALL-E. The rest of the Pixars, meh.

Tough fucking crowd.
