That would be me not being on board. My pro is a very generous rating for this film. It really did little for me on any level. I didn't think it was bad...or even mediocre...I was just surprised at how little impact, intellectually or emotionally or visually or conceptually, it had on me. |

Particularly (for me) Col. Shaw's speech about the readiness. ability, and moral fortitude of his troops to lead the attack. Broderick at his best. My top five for this year could all be tied for a first place rating. All are films (and a tv series) that I've seen many times and enjoy them every, single, damn, time. My outlier for this year didn't make it to the top 20 so I won't mention it other than I hated that frigging thing. Someday I'll be in the mood to catch all of Crimes and Misdemeanors. Haven't been able to sit through it all yet, which surprises me because this is one of the more recent Allen film that I think I would like (with some very lovable stars). Watched Drugstore Cowboy for the first time today and was very disappointed by the last act (although the first parts were interesting but about as satisfying as a cheap buzz). I wish I could watch The Decalogue. |
