Oh ok, I didnt know it were your posts! I just remember reading some answers and thought "How can someone in his right mind think that this was unhelpfull?" I just dont get why the 'new' people didnt post stuff earlier. I bet most of them have been reading for a while. Its just like they waited for us to go away so they can finally post

Are you talking about "earlier" as in before this whole debacle with MacGillivray? If so, I agree. Before people came out of the woodwork and criticized us for being a lynch-mob, the romance forum was a nice place. So it puzzles me some wouldn't come forward and instead lurked. Maybe it's because we're not being scared to post our thoughts. I know when I first started posting in forums (not Amazon) I was hesitant to post because other regular posters were not afraid to speak their mind. Honestly, you have to develop thick skin, it's not just that whole MacGillivray debate where I've encountered arugments. Plus, it's easy to take what someone else says wrong (it's hard to convey emotions online!) It can get complicated, but to keep it simple, just get that thick skin! heh. Everyone (okay, maybe not everyone, but most) starts out as a newbie with thin, fragile skin but you have to just shrug it off because at the end of the day we're all strangers. Why let a stranger scare you, make you mad, or make you not post? Okay, everyone here is not a stranger to me. You're all my romance board friends.

BOO! I still look at what's written at Dear Author but it's hard to read and respond to comments there. It's not set up as a forum, it's just a comment section. Plus, I love all of you here!

When I fist joined the amazon forum I thought all the more common posters new each other. I mean I thought y'all probably lived down the road from each other! Don't ask me why, I guess y'all just *seemed* so *close* to one another. People on there talked to one another like they had known each other for years! I haven't gotten this QUOTE thing down yet.sorry. |

I am guilty of lurking in the past, but my reason was simple. I had quit reading for a while. I used the forum to get new author suggestion...and most of them were great. Y'all were the experts, and I didn't have anything to contribute. I had to catch up on my reading....I'm still trying to catch up on my reading. |

I am "new" and have posted recently on Amazon. Mostly, just trying to get on the PBS lists etc. I, personally, wasn't intimidated. Mostly, I didn't have much to say and was really to busy to do more than read (the posts, not books of course!) Anyways, I agree with you all, things are much nicer here! It was really too tense over there. I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in such a "nice" place. |

Maybe because there are fewer peopel here we seem closer. But, mainly this is a much better way of posting. It seems more friendly and less like your voice will be lost in a crowd! |

This is the sweetest thing that anyone who was not married, or a blood relative to me, has ever posted/said/ expressed about me in my life. I am sorry that I have not been around as much as usual. I have been checking the forums, posting a little at Dear Author, but mostly I have been putting out my hummingbird feeders. I ended up having to purchase some new feeders, and then get them all out. I finished up yesterday, and this morning I had a hummer! I love having the birds, regular, and tiny, visiting my back-porch. I also think that it is good for me to think about something else beside my concerns about Amazon, authors, and Reba. I look at the forums at Ammy some, and I have decided to daily post one email to the topic"News From Reba" so that this topic is still out front and center at least once a day. I am so happy to have people that I consider friends still with me after the last painful days at the forums. I may be lurking, you can see if I am here because I am automatically logged in when I pull this site up! XOXOXO's to all!

Awesome. Hummingbirds are such cute, little birds. Very shy too so hard to see them. I remember I saw a hummingbird once by accident, it was fluttering its itty bitty wings right next to me, drinking from the flower near me. I love to bird watch, so you talk about birds I go "awwwww". I need to stop posting too much. It's cutting into my reading... |

I need to stop posting too much. It's cutting into my reading... Susiq2 says: That is a real problem. My reading has decreased by half since I started "hanging out" at the forums. Hubby is not happy, however, because _I AM STILL BUYING ALL OF THE BOOKS THAT YOU GIRLS RECOMMEND_ ; I am just not able to keep up with my book reading because I am too busy visiting with all of you!

Yep, I meant like the last couple months. I always had the impression that its pretty easy for new people to get into the conversations. I mean it was all about books and not much drama going on. I agree with the thick skin. Since you dont see the person you are 'talking' to it is so much easier to get certain things wrong and have misunderstandings. But even if you get into an argument I dont think it has to be a bad thing. As long as the conversation stays civilized and in non-personal way I enjoy to argue

That is puzzling then isn't it. Like you said, most of the discussions until recently were all book-related. No controversy. You know, it could also be because people don't like change. Most people resent and resist anything that isn't how it was before. Suddenly, when things become different, people get in a hissy fit. |
