Yup. It's warmer now. Spring is here, soon summer and then it'll be swimsuit season! So, what kind of exercising have you been doing? I usually run, but I haven't gone for a week now, just haven't felt like it. Sometimes, running can get boring so I need a break from it before I can get back into it. It takes some mental willpower to run long-distance. I usually run outside little over 3 miles. Lately, only been getting out 2 or 3 times a week unlike last summer when I was running 4-5 times a week. There is one hill that I love to run up, it really tones the butt and thighs (one down side, my upper thighs are bigger from the added muscle, but my calves are nicely toned.) Another downside of running is all the freaking catcalls and yells from men driving by, but it's part of running, you encounter fools like that. Drives me crazy, but I ignore it and go on my way. Oh, another upside of running outside is sometimes you pass cute guys running shirtless and it makes your run even better. I also do a lot of strength training exercises. Lunges, bicep curls, and the like. |

I had open heart surgery when I was 23 (for a birth defect) and I have some lung damage (backed up blood left scar tissue), so running is out of the question (run out of air to quickly for any length of time. I like to walk and ride my back around the neighborhood. I play softball with my daughter and tennis with my hubby (they take it easy on me). Once May gets here I swim laps in the pool evert morning. That is my favorite exercise I never get tired of doing it. |

Now that its warmer I go biking again. I love it. Our house is close to the wood and farm fields and I have a million paths to choose from. Never gets boring. I take my son with me in his child seat so we both get some fresh air. I also like to walk with the stroller. I walk pretty fast and pushing the stroller up and down the hills is actually a pretty good workout. |

Swimming is a great workout. Plus you are nice and cool when it's so hot out. schnuppi, once I saw a woman running and pushing a stroller. Now that is motivation! Wow, she was a fit mommy! |

I can imagine! I am definitely not fit enough to push and run at the same time. Walking is as fast as it goes. But Im not that much of a runner to begin with... |

I dance 3 times a week year round. I don't like the heat, it gets too hot here for me in summer, to do much outside. Before I got into the dancing, I used to spend a lot more time at the gym. I also have a bike, and will plan several day trips on the nearby greenbelt paths. We will usually ride 20-30 miles, but not intense riding, we stop to enjoy the river, the flora/fauna etc and take a whole day. We don't have a pool, or I would swim more often. I would love to have a pool at home!! Maybe someday. I try to take the grands to the public pool as often as poss in summer. I lived outside in the summer when I lived in the northeast for a few years, it was great!! Here in Tx, by the end of May, the temps are pushing upper 90's, and by the end of June, thru Sept, its typical to hit over 100 daily. And I just hate hate it. Combined with the high humidity, its just miserable for me. Its doesn't cool off much in the evening either. lol...jumping off my weather pity party box. So I dance......inside...lol

Humidity is the WORST in the summer. I agree!! I do continue to run in the summer, but I go either in the mornings or evenings. It still gets miserable. Some days, it is very hard to breathe the air is so saturated. While it gets bad here in Va, it isn't as bad as TX thank goodness! |

Shame on you exercise is a dirty word around here. Lets see, I get out of bed, I weight lift three 6o lb children out of bed into clothes to the breakfast table and off to school. I give my eyebrows and right arm a thorough work out during my work day by writing on the chalkboard and attempting to express the need to stay seated, stop talking, and get out your _______ (fill in the blank with the appropriate text according to the time of day) book. Upon arriving back at home, my great dane tests my walking speeds by dragging me down the street and across the block. or down the street after the UPS truck. Or the ice cream truck... or the ... Later, having done a second round of weight lifting with the munchkins, I retire for some lively frisky exercise with the three kitties. Chasing them around the room throughout the night to make sure that they don't get eaten by previously mentioned great dane, can by challenging to both speed and endurance. |

You have a great dane? How big do they get? I went to the dog show that comes to the area every year (tons of vendors come and all kinds of activities go on) and I had never seen so many different kinds of dogs in my life. I saw huge dogs (irish wolfhound and great danes) and teeny ones (yorkies). But yah, walking a big dog like that is sure to give your arms a HUGE workout! |

She is about 95 pounds, as tall as my shoulder. Only three years old. She is just a puppy. We figure she should eventually become a mellow couch potato like marmaduke, but not yet. |

We run our own business most of the year, and it's really super physical. The rest of the time we hike, go bike riding, and I live to ride & show my horses! I ran a lot when I was younger, but the knees can't take the pounding anymore I loved it! |
