My BFF just called me apparently someone has been busy hacking and got alot of debit/check card numbers. She called her bank and her name was on a list of cards they got. We have different banks. I called mine and they said it was a Visa/MasterCard processing center for places like Wal-Mart Target, etc. They did not have a list of there customers at this time. They recommended I go up there and apply for a new card and they would give me a temp in the meantime. They also said to watch my bank online and if any suspicious charges came through to let them know and they would investigate and not honor those charges.

I don't know if this is nationwide or what exactly, I do know that it is at least a real threat. So anyone who uses debit cards may want to check it out with their bank to be safe.

Thanks for the heads up!

UGH I have such a headache dealing with this. It was a processing center and credit cards may also be affected. I don't know how wide spread it is (as in regional or national). I do have a mastercard and they did confirm that a hacking took place and some accounts had been compromised. They were unsure if my account was compromised, but said they were taking extra security precautions. RRBang

I don't understand why people do this to others, RRRant

It's easier to steal the money from other people (than the bank), than to earn it? rbhead

With Barack Obama's new Blackberry, there are people that think hackers will love the challenge to hack into his piece. I heard it's a $3,000 Blackberry, probably because it needed extra security features so that normal people/hackers can't locate him?
