I guess the deals CC is offering now aren't as good as you would think. Looks like Circuit City wants to make as much money as possible to pay back creditors. Source To sum it up: - A Juno DVD at Circuit City was selling for $21.99 with a 10 percent discount, while the same DVD was selling for only $14.99 at Best Buy. - Out of 25 items, 10 were better buys at Best Buy. - They found cheaper prices online for all 25 items. You can also not return the items and you should make sure that they have manuals, parts and accessories and that the warranties are good. |

With all of the stores going out of business, it is really buyer beware! I guess price is just part of that. I bought a few things at Linens n Things before they closed and they had an area in the front of the store where you could plug in items to make sure they worked and open up things to inspect them. Because once you walked out the door, they were yours! |

Its so sad and a sign of the times i suppose ..The Woolworths in my town closed its doors after Christmas along with 3 or 4 other stores ...the worst story I heard though was about a company called Zavvi - which is a huge music store - used to be Virgin - refusing to honour vouchers which had been given as Christmas presents ..2 of my sons friends had gone into buy CD's and were told they would have to apply to the administrators but only if the person had paid with a creditcard if they'd paid with cash it was sorry, but money would not be refunded !..shocking when you think how many people bought vouchers as gifts for Christmas... |

Oh wow, that is messed up! Especially for a music store because that's the one thing you can get teenagers where you know you can't go wrong. |

I don't even know what to say! That poor guy! And how do you feel if you give a present and the receiver can't use it. It's just so wrong! |

A little over a year ago they built a new mall and it had a Circuit City, which was exciting because that was the only "electronics" store we had (unless you count Sears and Wal-Mart). My husband had just bought an expensive camera, and we read about the closing. We decided to take the camera back, and he could repurchase at Best Buy. It just felt safer since he hadn't had it for a week even. Unfortuantely the closest Best Buy is an hour away. It really is sad to see major retailers go. We did go in to see the sale prices the next day. Everything was 10% off, but it didn't seem any cheaper. |

Zavvi went into administration just before Christmas. Things don't look good. Some stores have closed and it seems that those that remain aren't getting any fresh stock. Unless a buyer is found (and that seems unlikely), it looks like Zavvi will disappear forever. |
