This is a good article. At least she genuinely likes Sam. :)

Dean had already hit rock bottom, so he could only go up with his character, while Sam is still sliding down to his bottom, and hasn't reached it yet.

I truly liked her insight. It's nice to have someone write about Sam that genuinely likes him, and is at least impartial and unbiased about a lot of things.

This was a really interesting article! It was also great to see the major episodes detailed and laid out like that to see his descent into darkness. I'm really interested in seeing what happens to him this season. Thanks for the link!

This is the interesting part:

I read in many interviews season three was supposed to show a role reversal, with Dean becoming more like Sam and vice versa.

And I agree with her, it failed. Because Sam did become more like Dean, losing the shades of gray and becoming more black and white in his outlook on life. The black being losing Dean, the white being saving him. But Dean remained largely the same. At least he didn't change enough to make it visible, while Sam actually did. Dean has always had a clear identity and a purpose, so there really wasn't anything new there IMHO. The only thing that overshadowed anything else was the character's heroism. And that was nothing new either.

I don't now why Kripke likes to downplay and hollow out Sam's psyche and concentrate on Dean's alone because at this point, Dean's psyche has been autopsied and what is left sadly doesn't interest me because there are so many things I simply don't buy about the character anymore.

All this happened in S3, and to me it was character assassination.

And I question Kripke because he made Sam change, but not Dean. What was the purpose?

If he wanted to make Dean more interesting, it didn't happen, at least not for me. Quite the opposite really. I still mourn the Dean of S1 and 2.
