Finals 5/8/13 Arrow: 1.22 2.62M, 0.9/3 SPN: 8.22 2.07M, 1.0/2 SPN beat Arrow's demo for the second time assuring SPN will nab at least the #2 CW slot again in the weekly ratings round-up. SPN did fantastic and Arrow is holding up very well ![]() THIS JUST IN: CW Pilot Pick-ups The CW has picked up The Tomorrow People, Reign, Oxygen and The 100. Along with the previously picked "The Originals" which will be definitely paired with TVD, that makes 5 shows. Oxygen will most likely be paired with B&TB. No announcements have yet been posted that I can easily find on the fates of Nikita and TCD. Reign, from sources I've read so far is only planned for a 13 ep S1 as it films in Ireland. ETA#2: Nikita - TCD renewal news Nikita will have a shortened season apparently The CW seems to lack confidence in all it's new pilots to renew the low performing TCD; my guess is TCD will have a midseason premiere just like this year. Nikita's renewal for at least a short season was a given. I'm just worried that The CW will split the successful pairing of Arrow/SPN and SPN will get paired with a new show that will tank and drag the show's "Live + Same Day" ratings down with it. I don't want a repeat of the Nikita/SPN pairing even though I like Nikita.ETA#3: The ranks for the week ending 5/10/13 (demo then viewers) are 1) TVD 2.28M,1.0/3; 2) SPN 2.07M, 1.0/3 (I think it's SPN's second tie with TVD's demo so :rah); 3) Arrow 2.62M, 0.9/3; 4) B&TB 1.29M, 0.5/1; 5) HoD 1.19M, 0.5/2; 6) Oh Sit! 0.77M, 0.3/1;7) 90210 0.60M, 0.3/1; 8) Nikita 1.02M, 0.2/1 ETA#4: DVR results for week ending 5/10/13[/b] (includes Arrow 1.22/SPN 8.22 CS) Again no Arrow, SPN, or B&TB. Nikita (renewed for only 6 eps for S4, TVD (1.0 to 1.7, 70%), HoD (0.5 to 0.8, 60%) and 90210 (cancelled) were the shows that made "this" chart that ended at 42.9.%. SPN might have both received an 0.4 demo increase (40%) and made the cut off. As it was made known that SPN would rerun 8.22 on Friday, May 10, it's exclusion from the chart does not concern me, but that's not the case with either freshman Arrow (orig demo 0.9) or B&TB (orig demo, 0.5, the same as the season finale of HoD). If Arrow increased by 0.4 (~ 44%) it would have made the chart; if B&TB had increase 0.2 (compared to HoD's 0.3) that would be 40% and it as with a hypothetical SPN increase of 0.4, B&TB would not have made the chart either. It is my opinion that Freshman Shows should make the L+7's on a reasonably frequent basis. 4 year old TVD is still strong in delayed viewing and 8 yo SPN has made the chart more often than not. I've read many CW Viewer and TV Board "opinions" that both TCD and B&TB were only renewed because The CW lacks confidence in their pilots. On a more reasonable basis for renewal of each show is although TCD is filmed in pricey NYC it's "online viewing" figures were good and B&TB is reasonably cheap as it's a joint venture between a Canadian studio (or something like that) and CBS. I don't watch either show (I tried watching the first few eps of B&TB but I still couldn't stand KK) so I don't really care. Oh and I completely blew most of my "Fall predictions". Like most CW Fans as well as "TV Sites" I never expected The Originals to NOT Follow TVD as that has been the problem with every show since SPN was moved to Fridays after the first season of TVD. Both TVD and SPN had their individual strong fan bases and shared a greater % of viewers too. So after the TVD episode aired those fans not watching SPN could jump online to chat and the same thing with SPN fans at the later hour. So while TVD always had stronger ratings than SPN the ratings stayed relatively the same until the season ended. That has not been true since although Nikita held on a bit longer to it's relative ratings than either TSC or B&TB and the rational has been for at least two seasons (as TSC was from the same author and a little more similar thematically than B&TB is) has been "TVDs viewers want to chat immediately following the episode, sure they'll give the newbie a chance for a few weeks but then it's "Good night, Gracie" to the newcomer. Most TV Sites and CW Fans thought reasonably that TO was designed to "fix" that pattern and more of TVD (Nielson) Fans would wait an hour to watch TO and then chat about both shows. I'm still semi-confident that TO will be moved to the post TVD slot after Reign airs it's episodes, unless TO proves to be a mini TVD self starter on it's own. But as I said prior, who knows, and when Reign finishes its S1 The CW might put "Star-Crossed" (formerly Oxygen) or maybe The 100 in the 9 pm time slot. TCD's premiering in fall on Fridays is another surprise and only tells me that The CW doesn't expect much live/SD viewing of TCD only "next day plus" online viewing. Perhaps this is a "Pilot Program" for the CW to see how feasible it would be to air some of it's shows "online only"? |

Finals 5/15/13 Arrow: 1.23 2.77M, 0.9/3 SPN: 8.23 2.31M, 1.0/3 SPN performed fantastically in the S8 Finale! I think it's a fair prediction that SPN will be at "worst" the #2 show for this finale week. The ranks for the final scripted show regular spring broadcast season ending 5/17/13 (demo then viewers) are 1) TVD 2.24M,1.1/3; 2) SPN 2.31M, 1.0/3; 3) Arrow 2.77M, 0.9/3; 4)B&TB 1.26M, 0.5/1; 5) Nikita 1.00M, 0.4/1 - the Nikita finale ended a highish note- it's a pity the show is only getting a 6 episode wrap-up; with that cliffhanger it should have received at least 8-10 eps; 6) 90210 0.54M, 0.2/1. Special Note - the Friday SPN 8.23 encore received 0.76M, 0.3/1 beating the 90210 series finale. All shows were finales; in the case of 90210, series finale; TCD and HoD had their season finales already. ETA: DVR results for week ending 5/17/13 (includes Arrow 1.23/SPN 8.23 -both eps had the title Sacrifice) (recall the 8.23 encore received an 0.3, so I'll "add" those demo figures anyway) 90210, TVD, Arrow (0.9 -1.3, 44% and tying SPN's encore of 1.0 + 0.3), B&TB made the chart this week that ended at 35%. I'm disappointed that SPN didn't gain 0.4 in the finale and make the chart. Arrow and SPN are the best CW team-up since the years when the show was paired with Smallville and I'm definitely going to miss that pairing. Yet it is testimony to SPN's allover strength to be a lead-out for a new show rather than be mismatched with a much lower rated "sophomore show" like TCD or B&TB. I don't mind "dropping" (much) "next season" from our solid third (and occasionally second) place in the "ratings roundup" for the past two seasons; SPN should have dropped in S8 and Arrow, B&TB and even EOMD should have outperformed a show in its 8th season, but only Arrow achieved that. I have my doubts about Reign's staying power and the deferred til midseason, Star-Crossed. I expect TO and Arrow/TTP to beat SPN's S9 premiere demo and TVD to beat SPN as usual. I expect SPN to beat HoD/B&TB and TCD/ANTM's fall demoes(no lower on [fall] average of #6/10 shows but I wouldn't be shocked if SPN averaged #4 or 5). I only hope TO is as compatible with SPN as Arrow was or the SPN might drop to whatever the equivalent demo S7's pairing with Nikita was (I believe S7 averaged ~ 0.75. (i.e., TVD/TO fans will be their own "pack" and there will be less crossover demo - SPN fans who currently don't watch TVD won't want to watch TO either; that's what made Arrow/SPN such a highly compatible team -"almost all" SPN tuned into Arrow and vice versa, at least that's what the similar demographic ratings suggest). |

CW Fall 2013 Schedule Lots and lots of somewhat unexpected changes. Highlights - Monday HoD/B&TB; Tuesday The Originals (unexpected)/SPN (boo, but not unexpected); Wednesday Arrow/The Tomorrow People; Thursday TVD/Reign (unexpected but planned to be a 13 episode season like Cult); Friday TCD/Antm Mid Season; The 100 and Star Crossed (formerly Oxygen) debut. Nikita to get only 6 episodes, schedule TBD I anticipate some mid-season shuffling to take place. Example either HoD or B&TB to Friday when TCD airs its episodes and Star Crossed to take HoD or B&TB's slot on Mondays. The 100 will possibly be paired with SPN and TO will move to the post TVD slot. But who knows? |

I agree, and I'm "iffy" on TO being as big a hit as TVD is or anywhere close. I watch TVD as long as I keep from eye-rolling too much at the love triangle but the thing is - not every TVD fan is necessarily a Klaus fan - I know I'm not. For me the primary draw to watching TO is that "Elijah" (David Gillies?) will be a regular. And secondarily the New Orleans setting even though most of it will be filmed in Atlanta like TVD is. If TO just doesn't grab me, I'll discontinue watching and watch SHIELD live and DVR NCIS or vice versa. I'm not too sure about Reign; I know a little about Mary Queen of Scots history and ends very badly. I wish The CW had picked The Selection over Reign, even with some problems rather than base a show on a historical character who was executed. |

See, I adore Klaus, but the biggest draw for Klaus was that Caroline is his biggest weakness. Elijah is also awesome, though I have a feeling that after a season, they will all be back in Mystic Falls. My love for Reign is my love for that time period. I saw a preview and am super hyped!!!! I don't know what The Selection is to comment, lol. I never saw anything on it. |

Something just bugs me about the actor who plays Klaus but I fully agree that the most interesting thing about Klaus in S4 were the definite sparks between him and Caroline. Now if Caroline had accepted Klaus's invite to New Orleans (at least in part-time TVD/TO crossover way) I'd definitely be more interested in TO. But unfortunately TVD brought Tyler back (TVD killed Bonnie, those bastards ! - Caroline and Bonnie were the only two 'regular' gals I tuned in for - besides Damon, of course)and on TO they appear to have already introduced a recurring LI for Klaus, plus werewolf girl Phoebe Tomkins (sp?) character is pregnant with Klaus' unborn child. (That's all I remember from the "back door pilot" concerning Klaus LI's).I also wouldn't be shocked if "The Originals" ended up back on TVD next season or the season after; the "special/prophesized baby" Conner on Angel didn't go over very well even after the show sent Conner to another dimension to grow up. I liked Conner at that point - but not when the show had the really, really bad sl of Conner having sex with whatever Cordy had become at the time to explain Charisma Carpenter's real life pregnancy... just UGGH! Even partially knowing Mary, Queen of Scots history puts me off watching Reign. But I'm glad you're enthused as it does look like a beautiful period piece. "The Selection" was one of The CW's last (2012-2013) year's pilots that wasn't picked up and was described by reviewers as "The Hunger Games" meets "The Bachelor"; it was set in the future - 200/300 years or so and the premise AFAI recall was a lottery was held between young eligible woman and one of these women would eventually be chosen to marry "The Prince", but - I think - the young woman's sister was in love with the prince and the feeling was mutual. And naturally the "chosen sister" was in love with another man, too (something like that). The overarching "storyline" had potential so the premise was re-worked to be edgier, adding more intrigue/scheming and "adult situations"; the re-worked pilot was re-presented and was described as more THG meets GOT) Game of Thrones) - more definite hard TV14 than TVPG. But it was passed over again. I was leery about watching The Selection as previously described but was hopeful that the revamped "The Selection" would be picked up. |

Repeats 5-24 thru 5-31-2013 5-24 8.12 ATGB 0.76M, 0.3/1 5-29 Arrow 1.01 1.37M, 0.4/1; SPN 8.01 WNTTAK 0.95M, 0.4/1 5-31 8.13 EHH 0.92M, 0.3/1 On Friday repeats the lead-in for now is Nikita and Nikita received two 0.2's each repeat episode Through June SPN appears to airing 2 reruns a week, one Wednesdays after Arrow and the second on Friday after Nikita until Friday, June 28 when Cult will burn off its last 6 unaired eps back to back thru the first two weeks of July. In July at some point (per Futon Critic it's Wednesday 7/31 but I read elsewhere it's 7/24) SPN Wednesday repeats will be replaced by the Reality Series "The Hunt" at 9 pm; it appears that SPN repeats remain on Fridays only 7/26/2013 after Nikita. On Friday 7/19 The CW will encore two half hours (for a total block of 2 hours) of their new reality shows "Whose line is it anyway?" and "Perfect Score". I will keep an eye on Futon Critic for any advanced changes in SPN's rerun schedule. I somewhat expect SPN repeats to eventually move to Tuesdays in preparation for the Fall premiere. |

Repeats 6-5 thru 6-14-2013 6-5 Arrow 1.02 1.28M, 0.4; SPN 8.02 WUTM 0.95M, 0.3 6-7 8.14 T&E 0.72M, 0.3 6-12 Arrow 1.03 1.21M, 0.3 ; SPN 8.15 1.01M, 0.4 6.14 SPN 8.16 RTT 0.71M, 0.2/1; no network show performed well - the highest demo was ABC at 9 pm and the highest viewer total was <6M for the very old skewing CBS Blue Bloods repeat at 10 pm The CW revised SPN rerun schedule as far I can find is: 6-19 8.17 GS 6-21 8.18 F&G 6-26 8.19 TD 7-3 8.20 PMF 7-10 8.21 TGE 7-17 8.22 CS 7-24 8.23 Sacrifice As previously noted Wednesday 7-31 new reality show "The Hunt" takes the 9 pm slot for its summer run. Futon Critic only shows 5 episodes (through August) and its likely a 6 episode series but there's no data for ep#6 so far. Starting Friday 6-28 as I already stated thru July The CW will first burn off Cult, encore its two new half hour reality shows and air a "repeat" (I think) of a music special on 7/26. After that TCD reruns seem to have replaced the Nikita reruns previously listed on Futon Critic and ANTM starts its new cycle on Friday, 8/16 at 9 pm. A very cursory look at Futon Critic for August found no SPN reruns but I didn't check every night. The CW has limited to no rerun/new episode data for September but it's possible that SPN reruns will return to the post Arrow rerun slot sometime in September or even move to Tuesdays in preparation for the S9 change. For me it's gonna be a much longer Hellatus without SPN reruns even the clunkier 8.03 -8.10. |

Repeats 7-3 thru 7-24 -2013 7/3 Arrow 1.10 1.04M, 0.3; SPN 8.20 PMF 0.77M, 0.3 7/10 Arrow 1.12 1.11M, 0.3; SPN 8.21TGE 0.87M, 0.4 7/17 Arrow 1.13 1.01M, 0.2; SPN 8.22 CS 0.76M, 0.3M 7/24 Arrow 1.14 1.08M, 0.3; SPN 8.23 Sacrifice 0.99M, 0.3 (I'm not impressed with Arrow's repeats - thus far repeats of Arrow S1 have slightly edged out SPN S8 in total viewers) but SPN S8's A18-49 demo is either the same is better by 0.1. IMO Arrow's S1 repeats should be besting SPN S8's by at least 0.1) Goodish update (I guess) . "Whose line is it anyway" premiered (7/22/13 - 8 pm orig/8:30 encore) premiered very, very well and "Perfect Score's" (9 pm orig/ 9:30 encore) ratings were ok for summer (0.4) but evidently not as good as The CW hoped, so "The Hunt" (renamed "Capture") will premiere July 30 after ep 2 of WLIIA instead of 7/31 after Arrow. "Perfect Score" will move to Fridays bumping Carrie Diaries repeats. Capture will encore its premier on 7/31 and the Arrow AND SPN reruns will resume on Wednesday, 8/7, beginning with SPN 8.05 and on 8/14, SPN 8.06. Previously, SPN reruns were removed from the summer schedule entirely. Of course, this is subject to further summer schedule changes. |

NEW NEW NEW! http://blog.cwtv.com/2013/07/29/the-cw-rev...premiere-dates/ Now this schedule makes more sense. Basically The CW is moving TVD's premiere of S5 up a week to October 3( formerly October 10) and airing the series premiere of The Originals right after. There was no any reason I could see for starting TVD so late. Apparently the premiere of TO is very similar to TVD 4.20 when the "back door Pilot aired with the 'TVD' stuff possibly stripped out and slightly expanded coverage of 'New Orleans). The following Tuesday, TO ep 1.02 will air before the S9 premiere of SPN - rather than both series premiering on October 15. Then TO will encore 1.02 on Thursday, Oct 11 after TVD. Reign will premiere on the next Thursday, Oct 17. There has been no change of the premiere dates of HoD/B&TB (Oct 7) or Arrow/TTP (Oct 9). |

Final Summer 2013 ratings for SPN: Repeats 8-7 to 8-28 -2013 8/7 Arrow 1.16 1.24M, 0.4; SPN 8.05 Blood Brother 0.83M, 0.3 8/14 Arrow 1.17 1.32M, 0.4; SPN 8.06 Southern Comfort 0.97M, 0.3 8/21 Arrow 1.18 1.20M, 0.3; SPN 8.07 ALSOK 0.73M, 0.2 8/28 Arrow 1.19 1.15M, 0.3; SPN 8.08 HH 0.77M, 0.2 Repeats 9-4 to 9-18 -2013 9/4 Arrow 1.20 1.15M,0.3; SPN 8.09 CF 0.88M, 0.3 9/11 Arrow 1.21 1.20M,0.3; SPN 8.22 CS 0.88M, 0.4 9/18 Arrow 1.22 1.16M,0.3; SPN 8.23 Sacrifice 1.01M, 0.4 On Wednesday, 9/25, The CW will air Arrow 1.23 at 8 pm and the Capture season finale at 9 pm (the "penultimate" episode of Capture airs Tuesday, 9/24). Arrow's reruns have averaged roughly a little above 0.3 in demo and Revolution starts its S2 on 9/25; it will be interesting to get a glimpse of the Revolution/Arrow duel - maybe Arrow's S1 finale rerun will only get 0.2 or even 0.1; if it "holds" 0.3 (or higher) that's a good sign that Revolution S2 may not substantially impact Arrow S2 ratings. On Wednesday 10/2 The CW will air a 1 hour "catch up with Arrow S1" "episode" at 8 pm and two of the most popular "reruns" of "Whose Line is anyway?" at 9 pm. Next stop, S9 ratings!

Nikita News NIKITA” BEGINS HER FINAL SIX-EPISODE MISSION FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22 AT 9:00 PM October 4, 2013 (Burbank, CA)— NIKITA will wrap up her mission with a final six-episode run beginning Friday, November 22, 9:00-10:00 pm ET on The CW, airing over six straight weeks. Framed for assassinating the President at the end of last season, Nikita (Maggie Q) finds herself at the beginning of season four alone and on the run, hunted as the most wanted woman in the world. But when she follows up a lead that could clear her name, Nikita unexpectedly finds herself reunited with her old team. Forced to work together again, Nikita and her allies have to get past their emotional wounds in order to take down their nemesis, Amanda (Melinda Clarke). In the process, they discover that the plot to frame Nikita is actually part of a much larger conspiracy, one that could lead to global catastrophe. NIKITA is from Sesfonstein Productions, Inc. and Wonderland Sound and Vision in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Craig Silverstein (“Bones,” “Standoff”), David Levinson (“The Commish”), McG (“Supernatural,” “Chuck,” “The O.C.,” “Charlie’s Angels” movies), Peter Johnson (“Supernatural,” “Chuck”), Danny Cannon (“CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Dark Blue”) and Carlos Coto (“Heroes,” “24”). Source: CW ================================= I'm sad that Nikita got such a short season but I can't blame The CW as the S3 ratings were poor. Nikita was a quality action adventure show that may have paved the way for Arrow. =================================Note 2 I will be slightly altering my weekly CW ratings round-up for the time being. The "new CW Fall 2013" started yesterday (10/3/13) with the premieres of TVD/TO. Therefore my reporting week will be Thursday, skipping Fridays for now, thru Wednesday of the following week. I will continue to post the 'Tuesday' (TO/SPN) ratings first and then sometime after Wednesday I will go back and report on the Thursday-Wednesday ratings. If "TVD" has a repeat before the rest of The CW shows (again, exclusive of Fridays right now) allowing the other shows to 'catch up', I will alter my posts accordingly. |

I'm gonna duck in early-ish to post prelims and a CW Press Release: "The ninth season premiere of Supernatural was the series' most watched (2.53M) and highest-rated premiere since 2010 in all key demos (1.0/3 in A18-34, 1.2/3 in A18-49. It was Supernatural's best A18-49 rating (1.2/3) since 2010 (10/15/10). Versus last season's premiere, Supernatural was up 37% in total viewers, up 25% in A18-34 (1.0/3), up 33% in W18-34 (1.2/4), and up 50% in A18-49. It's The CW's best performance in the time period (Tues 9-10pm) in more than two years in A18-34, A18-49 and W18-49. THE ORIGINALS also held up well moving to its new night and time, averaging 1.92M viewers, 1.1/4 W18-34, 0.8/3 A18-34, 0.9/3 A18-49. Digital streaming of SUPERNATURAL last season averaged a 29% increase in its total audience per episode” ========================== Now this data is based on the prelims and the demos/viewers may rise or fall in the Finale Ratings due in about an hour but this is fantastic news. The Originals seems to have taken a bite out of its competition and I'm stunned by how well SPN did. I was covering my eyes about noon when the prelim data came out almost expecting to read "Supernatural Plungers versus it's Season 8 Finale; The Original dips sharply from it's premiere (1.0)" Be back in a few hours with the Finals; hopefully the figures either hold or TO will rise 0.1 and SPN will drop a max of 0.1. In theory the figures could rise for both shows or fall more than 0.1. ============================ Edit #1 Finals are up! SPN beat Arrow's demo for the second time assuring SPN will nab at least the #2 CW slot again in the weekly ratings round-up. SPN did fantastic and Arrow is holding up very well
that The CW will split the successful pairing of Arrow/SPN and SPN will get paired with a new show that will tank and drag the show's "Live + Same Day" ratings down with it. I don't want a repeat of the Nikita/SPN pairing even though I like Nikita.

! (That's all I remember from the "back door pilot" concerning Klaus LI's).
