Preliminary "DVR L+3 days" CW Press Releases for TO 1.02, SPN S9 and Arrow S2 Premieres and TTP Series Premiere (Two press releases)Data from TVBytheNumbers: "In Live +3 Day delayed viewing, the second episode of THE ORIGINALS, in its new Tuesday night time period, saw a 35% increase in total viewers versus Live +Same Day viewing (2.59M vs. 1.92M), a big 48% bump in A18-34 (1.22 vs 0.83), a 57% gain in W18-34 (1.74 vs 1.11), and a 43% increase in A18-49 (1.28 vs 0.9). The ninth season premiere of Supernatural, which in its L+SD ratings was the most watched and highest-rated season premiere for the show in three years, saw an additional 27% boost in total viewers (3.29M vs 2.59M), a 34% jump in A18-34 (1.39 vs 1.04), a 30% increase in A18-49 (1.56 vs 1.2) and a 35% gain in W18-34 (1.67 vs 1.24). Versus its 2012 premiere, in L+3 ratings Supernatural was up 26% in total viewers, up 24% in A18-34, up 28% in A18-49 and up 38% in W18-34." (There is no guarantee that the SPN Premiere will make the "L+7" chart due in approximately two weeks though TVD, TO, Arrow, and TTP - the "high" performers - likely will as probably HoD and B&TB as low, "Live + Same Day" performers will. The TVD/TO L+7 data will likely be available next Monday sometime and will be "Edit #3" and the following "week's results" will be "Edit #4" in the post upthread.) ----------------------- "via press note: The season premiere of Arrow saw sizable increases in Live + 3 Day delayed viewing versus Live + Same Day ratings. In total viewers, Arrow saw a 34% gain over L+SD viewing, gaining nearly a million viewers (2.73M vs 3.68M). In adults 18-49, Arrow grew 41% (0.93 vs. 1.3), and in adults 18-34 it increased 27% (0.85 vs. 1.08). The delayed viewing was up considerably from last season’s premiere, when Arrow gained just 16% in total viewers when L+3 viewing was added, and gained 21% in A18-49 and 24% in A18-34. THE TOMORROW PEOPLE also rose considerably in L+3 viewing, rising 27% in total viewers compared to L+SD (2.31M vs 2.96M), up 50% in A18-34 (0.54 vs 0.81) and gaining 34% in A18-49 (0.85 vs. 1.15)." |

Finals 10-15 -13 TO: 1.03 2.22M, 1.1 SPN: 9.02 2.33M, 1.0 SPN fell this week and TO rose but still SPN continues to perform well and TO's strong performance is both excellent as well as a relief! The CW released another PR for it's Tuesday shows (from TVbythenumbers): "The CW Has Highest Rated Tuesday in Adults 18-49 in 4 years Written By Sara Bibel October 16th, 2013 via press release: THE ORIGINALS and Supernatural combined last night to give The CW its highest-rated Tuesday night in A18-49 in more than four years (1.1/3, since 9/15/09), and its highest-rated Tuesday in A18-34 (1.0/3) and W18-34 (1.4/4) in more than two years (9/27/11). It matched last week’s premiere night in total viewers (2.26M), which was The CW’s most watched Tuesday night in four years. Last night’s third episode of THE ORIGINALS hit series highs in A18-49 (1.1/3), W18-34 (1.5/5), and W18-49 (1.4/4), and matched its series premiere numbers in both A18-34 (1.0/3) and total viewers (2.2M). Versus last week’s episode, THE ORIGINALS was up 14% in total viewers, up 25% in A18-34, up 36% in W18-34, up 22% in A18-49 and up 17% in W18-34. Supernatural had its best W18-34 (1.3/4) rating in more than two years (since 2/4/11), and matched last week’s premiere number in A18-34(1.0/3)." ------------------------------ ETA #1: The CW ranks for the period of 10-10-13 through 10-16-13 (exclusive of Friday) were (demo then viewers) 1)Arrow 3.06M, 1.1; 2) TO 2.22M, 1.1 – demo tie btw Arrow and TO for “1st by demo”: 3) SPN 2.33M, 1.0; 4) TVD 2.14M, 1.0; – demo tie for 2nd btw SPN and TVD; 5) TTP 2.15M, 0.8; 6)HoD 1.06M, 0.4; 7)B&TB 0.90M, 0.3 Oh well, I knew SPN's tie for first place last period would likely not be repeated at least not until maybe spring but it felt good! Reign premieres tonight after TVD After Monday, Oct 28,2013 I will start reporting the ranks by calendar week which means at one TVD/Reign episode will stand alone for that week. This is not necessarily to include The Carrie Diaries in the “week’s ranks” (unless TCD outperforms HoD/B&TB) but to include DVR results and DVR results on normally released on Mondays. --------------------------- ETA #2: DVR Results for week ending October 20, 2013 (include TO 1.03 /SPN S9.02) Meh . Low performers B&TB and HoD, high performers TVD and TO (1.1 to 1.7, 55%) made the chart this week which ended again at 50%. SPN , Arrow and TTP - L+SD demos of 1.0, 1.1 and 0.8, respectively - were absent. Theoretically SPN could have added 0.5 for a 50% increase and not made the top 25 depending on how tie breakers at 50% are decided. I can’t find another site with reliable DVR data (barring comments on the TVBTN site for posters who have access to other DVR data that this chart doesn't include) unless the CW gives a PR. |

Finals 10-22-13 TO: 1.04 2.23M, 0.9 SPN: 9.03 2.34M, 1.1 I don't know how SPN 9.03 did better than 9.02 which I considered, on average a more solid episode but I'm not complaining. TO stayed the same from the prelims but I was pleasantly surprised that SPN adjusted up. The CW ranks for the period of 10-21-13 through 10-24-13 (already posted and will exclude 10-17-13’s TVD and Reign ratings) were (demo then viewers): 1) TVD 2.93M, 1.3; 2) SPN 2.34M, 1.1; 3) Arrow 2.89M, 0.9; 4) TO 2.23M, 0.9; 5) TTP 1.92M, 0.7 6) Reign 1.83M, 0.6; 7) HoD 1.05M, 0.4; 8) B&TB 0.82M, 0.3 (FYI TCD premiere on Friday 10-25 also got <1 M, 0.3 but I won't be routinely reporting Friday data unless HoD or B&TB are moved to Fridays) ETA #1: 10-30-2013 CW PR abstract as referenced in the post below: “L+3” data for TO 1.04/SPN 9.03: “This season The CW has seen major increases in DVR viewing. Last week's episode of THE ORIGINALS saw huge week to week increases in delayed Live + 3 Day DVR viewing, more than doubling its W18-34 (+119%, 1.89 vs 0.86) rating, and nearly doubling its rating in A18-34 (+91%, 1.42 vs 0.74) versus the Live+Same Day ratings. THE ORIGINALS averaged 3.37M viewers, a +51% gain over L+SD, and marking the series most watched episode of the season in L+3. It was also THE ORIGINALS highest-rated episode of the season in A18-49 (1.62), which rose +72% over its L+SD rating. Supernatural also saw big gains in L+3 data versus L+SD, rising +47% in A18-34 (1.21 vs 0.82), +40% in A18-49 (1.48 vs 1.06), +58% in W18-34 (1.37 vs 0.87), and +34% in total viewers (3.12M vs 2.34M).” (I’m reporting the SPN L+3 data in the event that SPN doesn’t make the chart when the “L+7 data” will be available for SPN 9.03 – the "L+3" increase was 40% in A18-49; on either this Sunday or Monday – 11/3 or 11/4- the “L+7 data” for TO 1.03/SPN 9.02 is coming out) ======================= ETA: DVR Results for week ending October 27, 2013 (include TO 1.03 /SPN S9.03): Low performers B&TB, TCD, HoD and higher performers TO (0.9 to 1.7, 89%), Arrow ( 0.9 to 1.4, 56%) made the chart which ended at 55%. No SPN (orig 1.1), TVD (orig 1.3), TTP (0.7), or Reign (0.6). (FYI - we know that SPN gained at least 40% in the L+3's 1.1 -1.5 with rounding and TO gained another 17% in L+7 vs L+3 so another ~ 10% gain for SPN (~45%) would not be unreasonable) |

Finals 10-29-13 TO: 1.05 2.05M, 1.0 SPN: 9.04 2.19M, 1.1 TO rose 0.1 vs last week and SPN held at a strong 1.1. “We” want our Bunkbuddy TO to be performing well, in part a high performing lead-in prevents a 'SPN-post Nikita type" lackluster ratings. (FYI – if you ever watched TVD and decided it was not for you, TO is much more ‘mature show’ and I really like now)I’ve abstracted part of yesterday’s CW Press Release (I’m posting the full CW PR in the next post and abstracting parts pertaining last night’s episode and 9.03 prelim DVR results that I’ll post with 9.03 ratings) TVBTN 10-30 CW PR This PR is based on prelim/”overnight” data: 'The Originals' & 'Supernatural' Match Season Highs, Continuing Growth Versus Last Season in Adults 18-34 Written By Sara Bibel October 30th, 2013 via press release: THE ORIGINALS and Supernatural continue to see strong ratings, with both series rising week to week in 18-34 demos and matching The CW's best Tuesday night of the season in A18-34 (1.0/3), tying the network's best Tuesday night since Sept. 2011. THE ORIGINALS jumped +29% week to week in A18-34 (0.9/3) and +11% in W18-34 (1.0/3), and matched last week in A18-49 (0.9/3) and W18-49 (1.1/3). Supernatural rose +25% week to week in A18-34 (1.0/3) +22% in W18-34 (1.1/3), and hit a season high in M18-34 (1.0/3), up +25% vs. last week. It was even with last week in A18-49 (1.1/3) and W18-49 (1.1/3). Supernatural beat Fox and tied ABC in the hour among M18-34. ------------------------ ETA #1: The CW ranks through 10-31-13 were (demo then viewers): 1) SPN 2.19M, 1.1; :rah; 2) TO 2.05M, 1.0; 3) TVD 2.07M, 0.9 – series low due to Halloween and 10 pm airing in NYC (largest TV market); chances are many NYC viewers chose to defer viewing and TVD "L+3's" and "L+7's" were be huge; 4) Arrow 2.37M, 0.8 - Arrow took a ratings beating from the World Series; 5)TTP 1.72M, 0.6; 6) Reign 1,57M, 0.6; 7) HoD 1.05M, 0.4; 8) B&TB 0.83M, 0.3 SPN’s 1st place CW win this week is not unmerited. TO could have been in 1st place in its stead. Yes, Arrow/TTP had to face 2 eps (I think) vs World Series and TVD/Reign , Halloween with 8% less tv viewers. Most network shows except the bulletproof ones like the NCIS’s face experience temporary drops when facing more than normal competition. “Special Circumstances” (Halloween, etc.) or preemptions. According to my records, last year Arrow and SPN aired on Halloween and Arrow received a then “series low” of 1.0 in demo, and SPN 0.8, yet both were strong enough performers to snag the #2 &3 spots (TVD was way out front with 1,5 in demo) because the other new fall 2012 shows (B&TB and EOMD) were performing poorly. ETA #2: DVR Results for week ending November 3, 2013 (includes TO 1.05 /SPN S9.04) Low performers B&TB & TCD, Series low performer TVD (0.9 to 1.7, 83%), higher performers Arrow and TO (1.0 to 1.6) and mid level performers TTP and Reign made this weeks’ chart which ended at 50%. No SPN (orig demo 1.1) or HoD this week |

It was even with last week in A18-49 (1.1/3) and W18-49 (1.1/3). Supernatural beat Fox and tied ABC in the hour among M18-34. Finals 11-5-13 TO: 1.06 2.03M, 0.9 SPN: 9.05 2.15M, 0.9 SPN dropped but most network shows had small dips this Tuesday night – there was lots of competition from sporting events on many cable channels. Looks like TO/SPN are in demo tie for 3rd place this week as Arrow got a 1.0 in demo and the prelim figures for TVD are 1.2 (I don’t know how the show is still doing this well; IMO the TVD S5 sl is the most boring yet). The ranks for this week are (demo than viewers): 1) TVD 2.59M, 1.3; 2) Arrow 2.80M, 1.0; 3)SPN 2.15M, 0.9; ; 4) TO 2.03M, 0.9; 5) Reign 1.64M,0.6; 6) TTP 1.56M, 0.6; 7) HoD 1.00M; 0.4; 8) B&TB 0.68M, 0.3 ETA DVR results: DVR Results for week ending November 10 , 2013 (includes TO 1.06 /SPN S9.05): High performing but down due to sports, politics and preemptions - TO (O.9 to 1.7, 89%), SPN (0.9 to 1.5, 67%– phew, would have been ticked if it hadn’t made it “this week”) and low performers HoD, B&TB, and TCD made the chart this week that ended at high 61%. No Arrow, TTP, TVD or Reign. |

Finals 11- 12-13 TO: 1.07 2.40M, 1.1 SPN: 9.06 2.36M, 1.1 :rah: Both shows back up The CW issued another Press Release: (Based on Prelim numbers) On the heels of its full season pickup this week, THE ORIGINALS had its most watched episode of the season (2.38M), and helped give The CW its most watched Tuesday night in more than four years (2.36M, since 9/8/09). THE ORIGINALS matched its season highs in A18-49 (1.1/3), and W18-34 (1.5/4), hit a new season high in W18-49 (1.5/4), and tied its second best number of the season in A18-34 (1.0/3).THE ORIGINALS outrated both Fox and ABC in the hour in W18-34, and tied Fox in A18-34. Week to week, THE ORIGINALS rose 25% in A18-34, 36% in W18-34, 22% in A18-49 and 17% in total viewers. THE ORIGINALS has also seen huge amounts of time-shifted viewing this season, most recently more than doubling its A18-34 and W18-34 ratings in Live + 7 Day viewing compared to Live + Same Day, and nearly doubling its rating in A18-49. Supernatural had its second most watched episode of the season last night (2.35M), and gained week to week across the board, rising 11% in A18-34 (1.0/3), up 11% in A18-49 (1.0/3), up 20% in W18-34 (1.2/4, and growing 9% in total viewers (2.35M). Week to week, The CW's Tuesday night is up 22% in A18-49 (1.1/3), up 11% in A18-34 (1.0/3), up 27% in W18-34 (1.4/4), and up 13% in total viewers (2.36M). --------------- In the Finals, The Originals gained in total viewers and SPN gained a scant number of viewers and more importantly, gained a 0.1 in demo, tying TO at 1.1. FYI - next Tuesday, 11/19/13 The CW is airing another one of those low performing "I <3 Radio" specials rather than a new TO (this will catch SPN up in episode count). So we not only having to worry about a potentially divisive episode, we SPN fans have to deal with another substandard lead-in. ---------------------- ETA #1: The ranks for this week are (demo than viewers): 1) TVD 2,73M, 1.3; 2) Arrow 3.09M, 1.2 - season high demo and viewers; 3) TO 2.40M, 1.1 – season high viewers; 4) 4) SPN 2.36M, 1,1 – demo tie with TO; ; 5) Reign 1.69M, 0.7; 6) TTP 1.65M, 0.6; 7) HoD 1.14M; 0.4; 8) B&TB 0.75M, 0.3 The CW had a great Tuesday -Thursday this past week with shows over 1.0 in demo! SPN was in 4th place but tied with TO’s demo of 1.1. I’ll take these figures. ETA #2: ETA: DVR Results for week ending November 17 , 2013 (includes TO 1.07 /SPN S9.06): Low performers B&TB. TCD and high performer TO (1.1 – 1.8, 64%) made the chart is week that ended at 57%. Other high performers TVD (1.3), Arrow (1.2) and SPN didn’t make the cut off. |

Finals 11-19-13 TO: Did not air - preempted for “I Heart Radio (Lady Gaga)” concert <1M, 0.3 SPN: 9.07 2.01M, 0.9 I think it’s reasonably safe to say that not having a TO lead-in harmed the show as much as the sporting events and local preemptions harmed both shows two weeks ago. Still, even with a crappy 0.3 demo lead-in SPN did very well.ETA #1: The ranks for this week are (demo than viewers: 1)TVD 2.67M,1.3; 2) Arrow 2.66M, 1.0; 3) SPN 2.01M, 0.9; 4)Reign 1.81M, 0.7; 5)TTP 1.70M,0.6; 6) HoD 1.03M;0.4;7) IheartRadio 0.86M, 0.3, 8) B&TB 0.68M, 0.3 Nikita Final Season Premiere – prelim <1M, 0.2 ETA #2: ETA: DVR Results for week ending November 24, 2013 (includes SPN S9.07 BB @ 0.9 demo): Low performers B&TB and TCD, mid performer TTP (0.6 to 1.0, 67%) and high performer SPN (0.9 to 1.5, 67%) made this week’s chart that ended at 56%. No HoD, Arrow, TVD or Reign. TO was preempted by a special. |

Finals 11- 26-13 TO: 1.08 2.38M, 1.1 SPN: 9.08 2.39M, 1.1 Both shows did great! The only new programming for the week was HoD and B&TB Fall Finales (1.01M, 0.4 and 0.74M, 0.3, respectively) and Nikita 4.02 to be aired this Friday. This week’s Arrow/TTP and TVD/Reign will be replaced by movies. As last week’s Nikita season 4 premiere received a poor 0.2 in demo I won’t bother reporting Fridays until something changes in scheduling. ETA #1: Partial CW PR on Tuesday, Nov 26 posted on TVBythenumbers (Based on Prelim ratings only - SPN adjusted up 0.1 in the Finals) via press note: The Originals last night matched its series high from two weeks ago in A18-49 (1.1/3), while Supernatural had its most watched episode since its season premiere. With last night's fast affiliates averaged in, The CW is now on track to wrap the November sweep up in A18-34, and also up in total viewers. The remainder of the CW PR summarized the growth vs last November particularly in A18-34 and W18-34 ETA #2: DVR Results for week ending December 1, 2013 (includes TO 1.08 /SPN S9.08) The only original programming for Thanksgiving week was it’s Monday, Tuesday and Friday line-ups and they all made this chart: low performers HoD, B&TB and Nikita and high performers TO (1.1 to 1.8, 64%) and SPN (1.1 to 1.6, 45%). This week's "Chart 2" ended at a ‘low’ 31% which is partially why SPN made the cut but still 1.1 to 1.6 is not too shabby for a 9 year old show. The lighter “TV Week” also meant that two CW shows, TO and SPN got data on “Chart 3”, “% Viewer Increase” – with ‘real viewer increases - occasionally TVD has made “Chart 3”; usually unless The CW issues a “DVR added PR” with these data we rarely get added viewers – occasionally a poster who has access to a wider range of data can provide L+7 total viewers. 24 ORIGINALS-11/26 CW 2379 3554 1175 49% 25 Supernatural-11/26CW 2392 3393 1001 42% |

12-4-13 Press Report - based on prelim data 12-3 TO-SPN Written By Amanda Kondolojy December 4th, 2013 via press release: The fall finales of THE ORIGINALS and Supernatural combined to give The CW its most watched Tuesday night (2.45M) in more than five years (since 11/4/08). Last night's episode of THE ORIGINALS was the series most watched episode (2.44M) to date, and tied its series high in A18-49 (1.1/3). THE ORIGINALS was up +3% week to week in total viewers, up +8% in W18-34 (1.4/5), and was even week to week in A18-34 (1.0/4) and in A18-49. Supernatural matched its season highs in A18-34 (1.1/4), A18-49 (1.1/3), and in W18-34 (1.4/4). Week to week, Supernatural was up +38% in A18-34, +2% in total viewers (2.45M), and +56% in W18-34. For the hour, Supernatural drew more total viewers than Fox, and tied Fox in A18-49. Week to week, The CW's Tuesday night was up +11% in A18-34 (1.0/4), +27% in W18-34 (1.4/4), +3% in total viewers and steady in A18-49. <Note: This CW PR is based on overnight data only and both shows may hold their demoes or be adjusted up or down in the Finals which be available later.> 0000000000000000000 Finals 12-3-13 TO: 1.09 2.33M, 1.0 SPN: 9.09 2.41M, 1.1 Both shows did very well – I actually had a strongish feeling today that one of the shows would adjust down in the finals versus and I glad it wasn’t SPN!SPN 9.09 had the highest viewer total since the premiere just edging out 9.08's total. Very solid finish for the Fall (2.31M average viewers, 1.06 demo) and unlike S8 I'm looking for to 9.10 rather than considering whether or not to continue watching. The ranks for this week are (demo than viewers): 1) Arrow 3.24M, 1.2; 2)SPN 2.41M, 1.1 - beat TVD again ; 3)TVD 2.36M, 1.0; 4)TO 2.33M, 1.0; 5)TTP 1.74M, 0.6; 6) Reign 1.66M, 0.6ETA: DVR Results for week ending Dec ember 8, 2013 (includes TO 1.09 /SPN S9.09 Fall Finales) HoD & B&TB had the mid season finales ‘last week”; this “week” all shows but low ranking Nikita and high ranking SPN (orig 1.1) and Arrow (orig 1.2) made this chart that ended at 48%. SPN beat TVD’s demo (1.1 vs 1.0) this week. Low performer TCD and mid performers TTP and Reign made the chart as did high performer TO (1.0 to 1.6, 60%). Thus “this week” the #1 and #2 shows (Arrow and SPN) didn’t make the cutoff. |

Premieres Friday, March 21 with New Episodes at 8:00 and 8:30 PM December 12, 2013 (Burbank, CA) – The CW announced its midseason schedule today, including the premiere of two new dramas, STAR-CROSSED and THE 100, and the second cycle of the hit comedy/improv series WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? In February, the futuristic story of an alien/human romance begins with the premiere of STAR-CROSSED on Monday, February 17 (8:00-9:00pm ET), leading into another epic romance, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. In March, the human race returns to planet Earth in the post-apocalyptic adventure drama, THE 100, which will premiere on Wednesday, March 19 (9:00-10:00pm ET), following hit drama ARROW. THE TOMORROW PEOPLE will transport to its new night and time on Mondays (9:00-10:00pm ET), beginning March 17, following STAR-CROSSED. After the March 10th telecast, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will go on hiatus and will return to the schedule with original episodes at a date to be announced. The hit comedy/improv series WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? will be back with a second cycle on Friday, March 21 with new episodes (8:00-8:30 and 8:30-9:00pm ET). Subsequent weeks will feature original episodes at 8:00pm and encore episodes at 8:30pm. Encore episodes from the first season of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY? will air Fridays at 8:00pm and 8:30pm from February 14 through March 14. Following a brief hiatus, HART OF DIXIE will return with a new night and time on Fridays (9:00-10:00pm ET), beginning March 21. Following is The CW’s revised midseason premiere schedule: Monday, February 17 8:00-9:00pm “Star-Crossed” (Series Premiere) 9:00-10:00pm “Beauty And The Beast” Monday, March 17 8:00-9:00pm “Star-Crossed” 9:00-10:00pm “The Tomorrow People” (New Night) Wednesday, March 19 8:00-9:00pm “Arrow” 9:00-10:0pm “The 100” (Series Premiere) Friday, March 21 8:00-8:30pm “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” (Cycle Two Premiere) ------------------ Over on TVbythenumbers.com site runners are theorizing that B&TB's no return yet means the show will either have 'wrap up' orders, a shortened season or full season filmed and then burned off when the regular season ends. Alternatively B&RB could return to schedule if either Star Crossed or The 100 totally bomb (<0.3 demo). Total The 100 episode hasn't been posted yet to my knowledge. |

SPN fell this week and TO rose but still SPN continues to perform well and TO's strong performance is both excellent as well as a relief!
I knew SPN's tie for first place last period would likely not be repeated at least not until maybe spring but it felt good!
Both shows did great!
