Finals 12- 2-14 TF: 1.08 4.34M, 1.6 SPN10.08 2.33 M, 0.9 “Part 1” of the 2-part Flash/Arrow crossover got an outstanding over 4 million viewers, 1.6 in demo.“Part 2” continues tonight on Arrow, and I expect >1.0 in demo for that show, too. Unfortunately strong ratings for TF didn’t help SPN any. SPN remained ‘flat’ at 0.9. I saw zero full promos for 10.08 – not during the CW shows I recorded during in after/before ‘primetime’. The Flash/Arrow crossover got a huge amount of promotion. Hopefully any improved Arrow rating’s tonight will help The 100. Without a new NCIS:New Orleans to share demo with MAOS received an 1.8; I guess we can be glad that SPN received that 0.9. There was no new TO/JtV this week. |

12-4-14 CW PR for Arrow-The 100 (As always – PR’s are based on the prelims not the ‘finals’ – fortunately Arrow adjusted up slightly in viewers and The 100 down but the demos both held. Arrow final viewers -3.92M; The 100 -1.86M. Both shows did very well but as with SPN’s ‘0.9’ to TF's 1.6 last night there were several snotty complaints from the same posters on SpoilerTV and TVBTN that The 100 was wasting Arrow’s lead-in. Arrow had it's second best viewer total since the premiere and The 100 had it's best viewer total this season) “ARROW” SOARS TO SERIES HIGHS WITH PART TWO OF THE EPIC “FLASH” CROSSOVER ARROW Scores its Highest Rating Ever in Adults 18-49, and Most Watched Episode Since its Series Premiere ARROW Matches Series Highs in Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34 The CW Shoots to Most Watched Wednesday in More Than Two Years December 4, 2014 (Burbank, CA) – Hot on the heels of THE FLASH’s strong performance Tuesday night, the ARROW crossover episode scored its highest-rated episode ever in adults 18-49 (1.4/4), and had its second most watched episode ever (3.86 million), behind only its series premiere on 10/10/12, according to preliminary Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Wednesday, December 3, 2014. With last night's conclusion of the epic crossover event, ARROW matched its series high in adults 18-34 (1.2/5) and men 18-34 (1.5/6), and hit a new series high in men 18-49 (1.7/6). ARROW ranked #1 in the hour in men 18-34, #2 in the hour in adults 18-34, #2 in men 18-49, and also outrated Fox in both adults 18-49 and total viewers. Week to week, ARROW was up +46% in total viewers, +50% in adults 18-34, +50% in men 18-34, +56% in adults 18-49, and +70% in men 18-49. THE 100 hit a season high in total viewers (1.94 million), rising +18% over last week, and remained even with last week’s season highs in adults 18-34 (0.5/2) and in adults 18-49 (0.6/2). This was The CW's most watched Wednesday night (2.9 million) in more than two years, since 11/14/12, and highest rated in adults 18-49 (1.0/3), in more than a year. The CW ranked #1 for the night (8-10 pm) among broadcasters in men 18-34 (1.0/4). Week to week, The CW was up +35% in total viewers, +29% in adults 18-34 (0.9/3), and +43% in adults 18-49 (1.0/3). Versus this same Wednesday last year, The CW was up +16% in total viewers and +11% in adults 18-49. |

CW PR The Flash crossover Live + 3: 'The Flash' Matches Premiere Rating in Adults 18-34 Written By Amanda Kondolojy December 7th, 2014 via press release: With part one of the epic Flash-Arrow crossover, The Flash sped up in Live + 3 Day Nielsen ratings to match its series premiere ratings in A18-34 (2.1) and hit a series high in M18-34 (2.7). The Flash also had its most watched (6.24M) episode since the series premiere and its best A18-49 (2.4) and M18-49 (3.0) since its debut. The Flash rose 44% in total viewers, 50% in A18-34, 59% in M18-34, 50% in A18-49, and 50% in M18-49 in L+3 versus Live + Same Day ratings. =========================== This is the first Flash PR with NO mention of how SPN performed - even though it may not have had moderate increase. I'm more and more disgusted at how little notice SPN is receiving since episode 10.05 (200th). I've seen no promos at all so far for last week's 10.08 and this week's mid-season finale - all I've seen so far for both episodes are some 'banners' saying 'new Supernatural episode on ... blah blah' |

CW PR TF-SPN mid season finales The CW Delivers Most-Watched 'Supernatural' in 4 years & 'The Flash' Rises Week-to-Week in Viewers Written By Sara Bibel December 10th, 2014 (As always, PR’s are based on preliminary ratings; TF may adjust up in at demo and SPN will likely adjust down in demo and especially total viewers due to TF’s “overrun” of nearly 2 minutes) via press note: Big Tuesday night for THE FLASH and Supernatural on The CW... Coming off of last week's huge crossover episode, THE FLASH midseason finale actually rose 4% week to week in total viewers (4.54M) for its most watched episode since its series premiere, and dipped just slightly in A18-34 (1.2/5) and A18-49 (1.5/5) . And last night's midseason finale of Supernatural was the series' most watched episode (2.81M) in more than four years, going back to 10/15/10, and up +21% versus last week. Supernatural also had its best M18-34 rating in more than four years (1.3/5, back to 10/22/10), up +44% from last week, and hit a season high in M18-49 (1.2/4), up +20% week to week, its best since 2/3/13.Supernatural matched its season high in A18-49 (1.1/3), up +22% from last week, and was up +25% week to week in A18-34 (1.0/4). THE FLASH outrated ABC in total viewers and A18-34 and A18-49 in the hour. Supernatural tied for #3 in the hour in A18-34 and matched NBC at #4 in A18-49. It was The CW's most watched Tuesday night (3.67M) since THE FLASH premiered on 10/7 and held even with last week in A18-34 (1.1/4) and in A18-49 (1.3/4). The CW tied with NBC as #2 for the night (8-10) in A18-34. ----------------------------------------------- Finals 12-9-14 TF: 1.09 4.66M, 1.5 SPN 10.09 2.62M, 1.0 As expected SPN lost 0.1 in demo but still did well in demo and had the season’s highest viewers to date. There was no adjustment to TF. |

Second CW TF-SPN midseason PR - Finals 'Supernatural' Scares Up Its Most-Watched Episode of the Season & 'The Flash' Keeps Its Speed in Their Midseason Finales Written By Sara Bibel December 10th, 2014 via press release: (Some of the following is a rehash of the prior press release but this PR deals with the "Final Ratings" - I don't think I've seen a CW PR after the Finals are released so The CW is VERY pleased. ) "Supernatural" SCARES UP ITS MOST WATCHED EPISODE OF THE SEASON AND "THE FLASH" KEEPS ITS SPEED IN THEIR MIDSEASON FINALES "Supernatural" Scores its Most Watched Episode Since January, while "The Flash" Races Ahead to its Second Most Watched Episode Ever The CW Has its Most Watched Night Since "The Flash" Series Debut December 10, 2014 (Burbank, CA) – Coming off of last week's huge crossover episode, THE FLASH midseason finale rose +7% week to week in total viewers (4.66M) for its most watched episode since its series premiere, while Supernatural scared up its most watched (2.62M) episode of the season, according to national Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Tuesday, December 9, 2014. THE FLASH was #1 in the hour on broadcast in men 18-34 (1.5/6), and #2 in men 18-49 (1.9/6). It held nearly even with last week's episode in adults 18-34 (1.3/5) and in adults 18-49 (1.5/5). THE FLASH was the #1 show in the hour among adults 18-34 in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco (tie), Detroit, Sacramento, and Baltimore. At 9 p.m., Supernatural matched its season highs in both men 18-34 (1.2/5), and in men 18-49 (1.1/3). Supernatural also ranked #1 for the hour in men 18-34, and ranked #3 for the hour (tie) in adults 18-34 (1.0/3). (SPN tied MAOS in A18-34; MAOS received 1.7 in A18-49.) Week to week, SUPERNATURAL was up +13% in total viewers, +25% in adults 18-34, +33% in men 18-34, +11% in adults 18-49, and +10% in men 18-49. Compared to last season's winter finale, SUPERNATURAL rose +8% in total viewers, +50% in men 18-34, and +22% in men 18-49. (Last year results – post mid-season finale of The Originals yielded 1.1 in A18-49, 2.41M viewers – therefore this mid-season finale ‘heavily’ outperformed last year’s in males – I think it’s because more males than usual are keeping The CW ‘on’ after TF, a show that definitely skews male. In last's year's CW PR's with SPN post TO, female viewer increases were emphasized because TO skews more female and in the 'Dawn Years', shows with the highe 'W18-34' were the most coveted even though the male audience, particularly 'M18-34' is the most valuable audience in terms of Advertising dollars) Last night was The CW's most watched night (3.66M), of any day of the week, since the series premiere of THE FLASH on 10/7/14. The network held even with last week in adults 18-34 (1.1/4) and in adults 18-49 (1.3/4). The CW ranked #1 for the night (8-10pm) among men 18-34 (1.3/5). |

(I'm separating the 'ranks post' from the PR's for TF/SPN mid-season finales) The CW ranks for this 'week' ending 12-11-14 (demo than viewers): 1) TF 4.66M, 1.5; 2) Arrow 3.06M, 1.1; 3) SPN 2.62, 1.0 ; 4) TVD 1.82M, 0.9; 5) The 100 1.62M, 0.6; 6) TO 1.41M, 0.6 -- > demo tie with The 100; 7) Reign 1.42M, 0.5; 8) JtV 1.22M, 0.5 - -> demo tie with Reign The CW had a very solid week with no exceptionally poor performers. The CW renews 8 shows for Fall 2015 (see original post in 'Sam and Dean Media' section. ) iZombie and The Messengers series premiere dates “With iZOMBIE on Tuesdays, the Winchester brothers move to their new night as Supernatural returns to Wednesdays, beginning March 18, 9:00-10:00pm ET, the week after THE 100 concludes its second season on Wednesday, March 11, 9:00-10:00pm ET. On Friday, April 10, The CW presents the series premiere of its apocalyptic new drama THE MESSENGERS (9:00-10:00pm ET). When a mysterious object plummets to Earth, the blinding explosion it causes sends out a shock wave that instantly connects five strangers who awaken after the pulse with extraordinary gifts they can barely believe. Most mysterious of all is a figure known only as The Man, who brings death and suffering wherever he appears. The wheels of Revelation have begun to turn, and these five newly christened Angels of the Apocalypse may be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture.” Poor “The Messengers” – You can knock me over with a feather (pun intended!) Most posters and TV site gurus had TM pegged for the post-Arrow slot. And the chorus of “The CW will never premiere a new, scripted show on Fridays’ is ended. |

Pedowitz considers another DC spinoff Pedowitz is considering another DC spinoff (in the Arrow/Flash ‘verse) and hasn’t ruled out another SPN spinoff attempt. It’s also not necessarily HoD’s last season either (this tells me that the cast of HoD have not been officially released from their contracts as of yet in spite of the ‘goodbye tweets’ from the S4 wrap up; personally, I like HoD and think that even short S5 would be a better mate for JtV with a time swap to 8 pm for JtV – then another breezy, non-genre ‘new show’ could take HoD’s place at midseason.) And Pedowitz is pleased that male CW viewers are growing – from 70% female/30% male to 60/40; Dawn Ostroff would be horrified.

Winter returns - both shows down, even against SOTU Finals 1-20-15 The Flash: 1.10 3.87M, 1.4 SPN: 10.10 2.42M, 0.9 Rating–wise Rats! Unfortunately SPN adjusted down and TF, though adjusted up 0.1 in the finales, was down 0.1 from its Fall Finale, too. SPN was also pre-empted in Chicago while TF was not. The CW ranks for this week starting Friday, Jan 16, 2015 (demo than viewers): 1) Flash 3.87M, 1.4; 2) Arrow 3.06M, 1.1; 3) SPN 2.42M, 0.9 ; 4) TVD 1.63M, 0.8; 5) TO 1.52M, 0.6; 6) The 100 1.48M, 0.5; 7) JtV 1,39M, 0.5; 8) Reign 1.16M, 0.4; 9) HoD 1.14M, 0.4 Barring anything 'unusual' happening between now and iZombie's debut on Tuesday, March 17 post The Flash, I expect this will be the typical ranks at least the top four slots. 1&2 Flash/Arrow because of the synergy between them. 3&4 SPN/TVD because of viewer loyalty and other tv completion. ETA #1: DVR results week of Jan 19-25, 2015 (TF 1.10/SPN 10.10 THG) TO – 0.6 to 1.1, 83%; The 100 – 0.5 to 0.9, 80%; TVD – 0.8 to 1.4, 75%; Reign – 0.4 to 0.7, 75%; TF -1.4 to 2.4, 73%; Arrow - 1.1 to 1.8, 67% ; JtV – 0.5 to 0.8, 60%. Chart ended at 60% No SPN (0.9) – I’m disgusted that no matter how underwhelming 10.10 was to me (and, to me, it was little better than 10.11 and 10.12) it didn’t make the chart; it would have to have an 0.6 demo gain - ~ 67% - to make the chart. |

Finals 1-27-15 The Flash 1.11 4.08M, 1.3 SPN: 10.11 2.06M, 0.7 I'm disgusted by these SPN results (TF hit a 'low', too, but TF's low is great for The CW). At this point in the weekly ranks SPN is tied with TO and there's every possibility that SPN will be 'beat' by TVD - Arrow beating SPN is almost a given. Granted, I thought the episode stunk more on re-watch than it did in the original airing. I'm so over Charlie Sue! Phew! 3 way demo tie for "3rd place". The CW ranks for this week starting Friday, Jan 23, 2015 (demo than viewers): 1) Flash 4.08M, 1.3; 2) Arrow 2.91M, 1.1; 3) SPN 2.06M ; 4) TO 1.74M; 5) TVD 1.47M - -> 3 way demo tie at 0.7; 6) JtV 1.55M, 0.6; 7) The 100 1.53M, 0.5; 8 )HoD (1/23) 1.22M, 0.5; 9) Reign 1.02M, 0.4 Here's hoping that SPN's 'last 3 Tuesday episodes' are better quality-wise and rating-wise than 10.11! ETA #1: DVR results week of Jan 26 to Feb 1, 2015 (TF 1.11/SPN 1.11 TNPLH) HoD – 0.3 to 0.7, 133%; SPN – 0.7 to 1.3, 86%; The 100 – 0.5 to 0.9, 80%; TF -1.3 to 2.3, 77%; Reign – 0.4 to 0.7, 75%; TVD - 0.7 to 1.2, 71%, Arrow -1.1 to 1.8, 64% ;TO – 0.7 to 1.1, 57%. No JtV (0.6) Chart ended at 53% SPN 10.11 may have been subpar IMO but at least the ep heavily DVR’d. |

Finals 2-03-15 The Flash 1.12 3.60M, 1.3 SPN: 10.12 2.21M, 0.8 - -> adjusted down Part of me is groaning at the last 2 SPN ratings results and part of is cheering at the combustion of both Thompson and Glass's character insert episode where the 1) guest stars entirely saved the day and 2) Sam was again made to look useless. In case CWESS mrmbers don't know 'Charlie' = a hip, female version of Robbie Thompson as he views himself and 'teen!Dean' has been largely modeled after Adam Glass's teenage years. Both have patted each other's backs for their cleverness many times on twitter. I just hope it's not too late for the show to recover it's dignity and a small ratings increase as well. Com'on - did it look like the youngSam of AVSC would still believe in the Easter Bunny at 11/12 when youngDean admitted Santa wasn't real when Sam was 8/9? The CW ranks for this week starting Friday, Jan 30, 2015 (demo than viewers): 1) Flash 3.60M, 1.3; 2) Arrow 2.94M, 1.2; 3) SPN 2.21M, 0.8 ; 4) TVD 1.61M, 0.7; 5) TO 1.47M, 0.7; 6) The 100 1.51M, 0.5; 7) JtV 1.24M, 0.5; 8) Reign 0.97M, 0.4; 9) HoD (1/23) 1.22M, 0.3 At least SPN earned a honest third place this ‘week’ even though considerably behind demo-wise 2nd place Arrow. There were mixed reviews on this episode, although all reviews praised Dylan Everett, with even some of the hard core Dean fans and reviewers pointing out how ridiculously Sam is becoming more, not less, inept in his fighting skills. ETA #1: DVR results week of Feb 2 to 8, 2015 (TF 1.12/SPN 10.12 AAB) TVD 0.7 to 1.4, 100%; The Hundred 0.5to 0.9, 80%; SPN 0.8 to 1.4, 75%; TF 1.3 to 2.2, 69% No TO( 0.7), JtV (0.5), Arrow (1.2), Reign (0.4) Chart ended at 64% |

Finals 2-10-15 The Flash 1.13 3.66M, 1.5 SPN: 10.13 1.98M, 0.8 We finally get a Sam who's not tied up or rendered unconscious and the ratings are still low on a fairly cute episode. 'Supernatural' can't even blame the low ratings on being up against genre competition because 'we' got several 1.0's and 0.9's in the Fall against a slightly higher ABC genre competitor. The ratings will probably go up next week for a heavy Dean episode. The CW did give 'Tuesday, Feb 10' a PR, though based on The Flash's 1.4 A18-49 prelim ratings (adjusted to 1.5 in the finals) and high M18-34; I only posted this link because it gives SPN L+7 DVR averages that are not making the cutoff: CW 2-10-15 PR via Press Release Last night's THE FLASH raced to its best ratings among M18-34 (1.6/7) since the Arrow-Flash crossover episode on 12/2/14, and its highest M18-49 (1.8/6) since the series' midseason finale on 12/9. THE FLASH ranked #2 in the hour in A18-34 (1.2/5) and #3 (tie) in A18-49 (1.4/5), and #4 among total viewers (3.48M). Week to week, THE FLASH was steady among A18-34, +8% in A18-49, +14% in M18-34, and +13% in M18-49. Supernatural held even week to week in A18-49 (0.8/3), and outrated NBC in the hour in A18-49 and A18-34 (0.7/3). For the night (8-10pm), The CW ranked #2 in A18-34 (1.0/4). This season to date, THE FLASH has averaged a +56% gain in total viewers, a +54% jump in A18-34, and a +60% increase in A18-49 when Live + 7 Day delayed viewing is measured versus Live + Same Day alone. Supernatural sees a +46% increase in total viewers, a +50% gain in A18-34, and grows by +55% in A18-49. ETA #1:The CW ranks for this week starting Friday, Jan 30, 2015 (demo than viewers): 1) Flash 3.66M, 1.5 ; 2) Arrow 2.67M, 1.1; 3) SPN 1.98M, 0.8 ; 4) TVD 1.52M, 0.7; 5) JtV 1.34M, 0.6; 6) The 100 1.36M, 0.5; 7) HoD (1/23) 1.24M, 0.5; 8) TO 1.22M; 0.5; 9) Reign 1.03M, 0.4 Oh, and The CW renewed B&TB for S4 today even though its 13 episode season S3 order won't premiere 'til Thursday, May 21 @ 8 (the TVD slot). Whatever ![]() ETA #2 :DVR results for week ending 2-15-2015 (includes TF 1.13/SPN 10.13 H&CF) TVD - 0.7 to 1.4, 100%; TO - 0.5 to 1.0, 100%; The 100 - 0,5 to 0.9, 80%; SPN - 0.8 to 1.4, 75%; Reign - 0.4 to 0.7, 75% Chart ended at 64% No Flash (1.5) but L+3 results (per 2-17 CW PR) were 40% and I expect TF gained more demo by 'Day 7' but not enough to exceed 64% . No JtV (0.6) or Arrow (1.1) |
