Thursday 7/8/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Ep 1.07: 1.52M ( A18-49; 0.6/2) Moonlight Ep 1.06: 1.23M ( A18-49; 0.5/1) (I'm only assuming ML's episode numbering - I never watched the show) Friday 7/9/10 SV Ep 9.07: 1.40M ( A18-49; 0.5/2 ) SPN Ep 5.08: 1.18M ( A18-49; 0.4/2) Better “numbers” for both SV and SPN this week leads me to believe last week’s low numbers were due to Friday 7/2 being the start of a 4 day weekend for US residents. SV beat Moonlight (based on Fast Nationals) this week in total viewers and “demo” and SPN came within shouting distance of ML’s numbers. Keep in mind that 3 out of 4 shows (TVD, SV, and SPN) have aired these episodes at least 3 times. I wonder if the trend of SPN’s falling less, staying the same or even slightly improving in the “Finals” vs. SV will hold true for this week’s “finals” Finals SV dropped 50,000 viewers and SPN gained 10,000 viewers; both held their “Adult demo/share”. (And even though the "Networks" don't count this "demo" much, in Adults 25-54 SPN had a demo/share of 0.5/2 as the show has always "skewed older". ) |

Thursday 7/15/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Ep 1.XX: 1.65M ( A18-49; 0.6/2) Moonlight Ep 1.XX: 1.51 ( A18-49; 0.4/2) (ETA: TVD seems to be jumping around so from now on I'm dropping specific episode numbers for either TVD and I never kept track of Moonlight episode numbering) Friday 7/16/10 SV Ep 9.13: 1.35M ( A18-49; 0.5/2) SPN Ep 5.09: 0.938M ( A18-49; 0.4/1) SV did pretty well in the Fast Nationals; SPN didn’t. I’m not surprised, mostly because I didn’t care too much for TRG the first two go-rounds. Sorry for the screwup, SV fans, regarding SV episode numbering. I haven’t checked since SV ep 9.04 aired. I am assuming SV will not re-air “Absolute Justice” with two back to back eps (9.11 & 9.12 per Kyptonsite.com) because it re-aired on May 20 in place of TVD/SPN. I have verified that next week's SV is 9.14 and SPN will re-air 5.10. I seem to be missing a few SV episodes but I don't know which ones because I wasn't keeping track after SV 9.04. :ph43r: I wonder if that's one plan to allow SV and SPN to premiere on 9/24 when by my crude calculation SPN should be airing 5.19 or 5.20 at most. Finals SV fell 8% in the Finals, SPN dropped 5%; both shows held their demos Note: Today’s (Friday’s 7/23/2010) SV is Ep 9.14 (Persuasion) next week’s (7/30) is Ep 9.15 (Conspiracy); this week’s SPN is Ep 5.10 (AAH) but next week is Ep 5.15 (DMDWP) is re-airing for the second time. So 5.11-5.14 are not getting “3-peats”. Skipping third airings of these four episodes must be how both shows will premiere on 9/24/2010. |

Thursday 7/22/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Season 1: 1.475M ( A18-49; 0.6/2) Moonlight Season 1: 1.23 ( A18-49 ;0.5/1.5 ) Friday 7/23/10 SV Ep 9.14: 1.36M ( A18-49;0,5/2 ) SPN Ep 5.10: 1.05M ( A18-49; 0.4/2) SPN crawled out of the basement after last's week's sub 1M viewers in the Fast Nationals. Let's hope the trend of SPN falling less than SV, holding or even slightly improving in the "Finals" holds. . Finals SV fell 5% in the Finals; SPN gained 10,000 viewers or just under 1% (0.94%). Both shows held their “Adult demo” but SPN improved to 0.5/2 in “adults” 25-54, though these “numbers” do not “count”, particularly for the CW which focuses most heavily on “Young Adults” 18-34 and most particularly on “Young Women”. Remember next week's episode will be Ep 5.15 DMDWP. |

Thursday 7/29/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Season 1: 1.47M (avg) (A18-49; 0.5/2) Moonlight Season 1: 1.26M (avg) ( A18-49; 0.4/1 ) Friday 7/30/10 SV Ep 9.15: 1.30M (avg) (A18-49; 0.45/2 ) SPN Ep 5.15: 1.38M (avg) (A18-49; 0.5/2) In the Fast Nationals, SV and SPN both did very well, SPN beat SV both in total viewers and in “demo” by a nose. Both SPN and SV beat Moonlight in total viewers and in the adult demo. Since this only was only the first re-airing of 5.15 DMDWP, I assume it was the same with SV. 5.15 performed the second best in total viewers for the summer season since the second repeat (third airing) of 5.01 when SPN was teamed with TVD and the demo (0.5/2) ties with and the demos of summer repeats 5.01 and 5.04, though 5.15 exceeded 5.04 in viewers by 240,000 (again both 5.01 and 5.04 were “3-peats”). I’m keeping a spreadsheet and will summarize the data at the end of the “summer”. Finals Both fell substantially in total viewers the finals though SPN still nudged out SV and both retained their demos. |

Thursday 8/5/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Season 1: : 1.22M (avg) (A18-49; 0.5/2, 0.4/1 - very low for TVD, possibly incorrect?) Moonlight Season 1: 1.14 (avg) (A18-49; 0.4/1 ) Friday 8/6/10 SV Ep 9.16: 1.30M (A18-49; avg 0.55/2 ) SPN Ep 5.16: 1.36 (avg) (A18-49; 0.5/2) Episode 5.16 (DSOTM’s) total viewers marks the second week in a row that SPN has beat SV total viewers and SV just edged out SPN in the demo in data presented in the Fast Nationals. Also, going by the Fast Nationals, this is the first time this summer that the CW’s “Friday” lineup beat CW’s “Thursday” line both in terms of total viewers, 1.33M vs. 1.18M, and in average demo, 0.5/2 vs. 0.4/1. Finals SV lost 5% in rounded numbers of its total viewers in the finals and SPN again gained 1%; both shows held their demos and although not counted by the advertisers generally, SPN improved its “adult 25-54 demo” to 0.6/2, “beating” SV’s 0.5/2 in “older adults”. Just to confirm TVD “poor” showing in the demo, I checked the Finals for TVD/ML and sure enough the “second half hour demo” of 0.4/1 was accurate, TVD fell in the finals and ML gained in total viewers resulting in ML beating TVD in viewers and tying TVD in the adult demo. |

Thursday 8/12/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Season 1: 1.56M (A18-49; 0.6/2) Moonlight Season 1: 1.23M (A18-49; 0.5/1 ) Friday 8/13/10 SV Ep 9.17 1.34M avg (A18-49; 0.5/2 ) SPN Ep 5.17: 1.16M avg (A18-49; 0.4/1, 0.3/1) SV soundly beat SPN this week both in total viewers and in demo. I wonder if the really low demo for the second hour is what Jimmy & Janie Q. Public think of the Dean–n-Lisa-n-Ben storyline that will feature prominently in at least part of S6? Finals SV fell 17%; SPN fell 13%. SV lost a full demo point (0.5/2 vs 0.4/2); SPN lost a half point, dropping to match the poor demo share of 5.06 @ 0.3/1. |

Thursday 8/19/10 Fast Nationals only TVD Season 1: 1.60M (A18-49; 0.5/2) Moonlight Season 1: 1.40M (A18-49; 0.5/1 ) Friday 8/20/10 SV Ep 9.18 1.14 avg (A18-49; 0.5/2,0.4/2 ) SPN Ep 5.18: 1.11 avg (A18-49; 0.5/2,0.4/2 ) Fox aired a pre-season football game from 8-10 and actually “won” the demo for the period. Since the game was not on the CW network I don’t what effect this will have on the “Finals”. Also, according to Comcast and TVGuide.com, next week (Aug 27) the CW will air a “news” show at 8 pm and SPN Ep.5.21 (TMTM) at 9 pm. On Friday, 9/3 the CW will air SV Ep 9.“22” (Salvation – the S9 Finale) and SPN Ep 5.22 (Swan Song) at 9 pm. This leaves two Fridays that the CW could air SV and SPN reruns until both shows premiere on 9/24 but I can’t “see” out that far. IMO I will be disturbed if the CW shows other stuff during that period - because there's no need that I can see because that will leave several episodes ("19 & 20/21") of both shows that have only aired one time. The CW did that between S2 and S3 - didn't air SV or SPN -(there were two weeks until the SV premiere, 3 weeks before the SPN premiere.), but I know every ep of S2 SPN had been replayed at least once after the original airing. Finals Edited 9/8/10: The only site I know of that posts "Final Ratings" is "Down" - at least for me. I did go on TWOP for these "Finals" (8/20/10) but the Poster "Stupid Colt" hasn't posted any new infomation either: “Finals (no preemptions at least by football) SM 1.05 million and a .4 in adults SN 1.12 million and a .4 in adults” |

Up against another pre-season football game on CBS; “The Gulf is back” barely did better and was put in the losers category by Mark Berman Finals See 8/20 note. |

Friday 9/3/10 SV Ep 9.22 1.24M avg (A18-49; 0.5/2) SPN Ep 5.22 1.28M avg (A18-49; 0.4/2, 0.5/2) SPN nudged out SV in total viewers and came within spitting difference of tying for the demo. In protest of neither SV nor SPN being aired for two weeks (9/10 and 9/17) so the CW can replay the first two episodes of Hellcats and Nikita (I’m thoroughly sickened the promotion the CW is giving Nikita and I thought last year we were being force fed TVD promos), I’m not giving the TVD rerun ratings for 9/2. (Yes, I’m that petty :eg: ) Finals See 8/20 note |

The new seasons of Smallville and Supernatural have started with a bang (for Fridays, that is.) From http://pifeedback.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6...451/m/873108323 (My usual source for regular season "numbers") For Friday shows the “Finals” aren’t available until sometime Monday – Tuesday and will include additional "demo breakdowns) so I’ll add the “Finals” when I can just as I have done over the summer Friday 9/24/10 Fast Nationals SV Ep 10.01 2.90M (A18-49; 1.3/5) SPN Ep 6.01 2.79M (A18-49; 1.2/4) Finals SV: 2.980M!!! 1.8/3 HH 1.3/5 A18-49 1.3/5 A18-34 1.0/4 W18-34 SPN: 2.895M!!! 1.7/3 HH 1.3/4 A18-49 1.4/5 A18-34 1.3/5 W18-34 Woohoo! Both show went UP in the finals and Supernatural beat SV’s A18-34 and W18-34 demo’s and SPN kicked Nikita’s W18-34 in the ***. (Nikita got more viewers but only got 1.2/3 in W18-34. For TVD and Nikita last Thursday was Week 3 and TVD just passed Nikita in total viewers.). But both shows did great! Here's what Mark Berman posted (extracted from column): “-Perfect Compatibility: The CW’s Smallville and Supernatural” And..."Finally, the 10th, and final, season of The CW’s Smallville kicked-off with 2.90 million viewers (#5) and a third-place 1.3/ 5 among adults 18-49 at 8 p.m. Compared to one year earlier (Viewers: 2.57 million; A18-49: 1.0/ 4 on Sept. 25, 2009), this was an increase of 330,000 viewers and 30 percent in the demo. Season six of relocated Supernatural opened with 2.79 million viewers (#5) and an also third-place 1.2/ 4 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. which was extremely compatible out of Smallville. One year earlier, Supernatural opened with 2.66 million viewers and a 1.2/ 3 in the demo in the Thursday 9 p.m. hour (out of The Vampire Diaries) on Sept. 24, 2009.” The mood on the pifeedback was jubilant – for both shows these numbers and demos are fantastic, especially since 90210, GG, OTH and LUX have been in the “losers” category several times since the 4 shows premiered several weeks ago. Hellcats is still hanging in quite well after the fading ANTM on Wednesday's. One poster wrote: If the individual numbers for Smallville and Supernatural are correct then this is the best Friday showing on the CW since the end of the CW (even doing better then absolute Justice [SV] two hour event last year) in both viewers and adults”. (The poster was later corrected that Friday Night Smackdown performed better, although “Smackdown” moved to another station several years ago [and it was on Friday I think] against SV and SPN). Another: “Lmao, Smallville and Supernatural. Those numbers are better than this weeks episodes of 90210, Gossip Girl, Life Unexpected, One Tree Hill, and Hellcats. On a Friday!!!” Edited 9/28/10 DVR Rankings are out for the week ending September 26 and Smallville ranked 11 for Adult Demo (18-49) increase. All other scripted CW shows made the top 25 except for TVD, Nikita and Supernatural. Maybe SPN was 26 or 27. Unfortunately the "Demo" increase chart doesn't give total viewer increases. Rank ...... Show ,...................Netwk....... Live+SD...Live+7.....Increase....%Inc 11............ SMALLVILLE.............. CW.......... 1.3........... 1.7.........0.4........31% Edited 10/16/10 |

As is normal both shows dropped since their outstanding premiere performance. In addition both shows were pre-empted by football in some "CW markets" and pre-emptions are odd beasts - sometimes show figures rise more substantially in the finals and sometimes they drop substantially. Fast Nationals Friday 10/01/10 SV Ep 10.02 2.36M (A18-49; 1.0/4) SPN Ep 6.02 2.35M (A18-49; 1.0/4) A disappointing, substantial drop from the premiere figures but in line with the “numbers” SV received last season after the show moved to Fridays. I know from reading the CW board that at least SPN was pre-empted by a football game in at least one US CW affiliate market. Both shows beat Fox offerings during the time period – demo wise – to come in 4th place (last week both shows came in third place). Both shows improved in their finals which will not be available until at least Monday - let's home the same thing happens this week. I hope both shows stabilize soon. Both shows also “beat/equaled” Nikita’s “Adult” demo/share for this week (A18-49: 1.0/3) receiving a larger audience “share”. I’m wagering both shows match or exceed Nikita’s W18-34 demo for this week (1.1/3). “Our position” may change from clinging to 4th place to dropping to 5th place (the average CW position demo and share – wise) when ABC premieres their new line up. Mark Berman again said: -Perfect Compatibility:Smallville (CW), Supernatural (CW) Finals The preemptions (and power loss reported in some East Coast areas) didn’t hurt as the ratings as much as they could have; SV gained about 20,000 “Nielson viewers” and SPN lost less than 20,000 viewers plus SPN outperformed SV in W18-34. Both shows held their adult demo (18-49) of 1.0/4 which is considered acceptable for a Friday show on the least viewed (on average) network. Smallville - 2.381 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.0/4 A18-49 - 1.0/4 A18-34 - 0.7/3 W18-34 Supernatural - 2.331 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.0/4 A18-49 - 1.0/4 A18-34 - 0.9/4 W18-34 ETA 10/25: Bill Gorman on TVbythenumbers reported the DVR numbers for this time period and only gave one chart (instead of 3 or 4) and only had the top 15 shows (hits like NCIS and Hawaii 5-0, CSI, Grey's) etc on it. |

Fast Nationals Friday 10/08/10 SV Ep 10.03 2.37M (A18-49; 1.0/4) SPN Ep 6.03 2.28M (A18-49; 1.0/3) SV and SPN were preempted in the Chicago market (#3 in the country) so the final numbers and male demos may go down a bit. Mark Berman had this to say: "The CW capped off the night with the perfectly compatible Smallville (Viewers: #5, 2.37 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 4), which won the 8 p.m. hour in adults 18-34 (1.1/ 5), men 18-34 (1.3/ 6) and men 18-49 (1.3/ 5), and lead-out Supernatural (Viewers: #5, 2.28 million; A18-49: #3, 1.0/ 3). Supernatural finished first at 9 p.m. in adults 18-34 (1.2/ 5) and men 18-34 (1.3/ 4). " Supernatural beat CSI:NY’s demos in Adults 18-34 and Males 18-34 and TVBythenumbers said “The combo of Smallville and Supernatural has improved The CW’s Friday by 38% in adults 18-34 (1.1/5), 44% in men 18-34 (1.3/6), 43% in adults 18-49 (1.0/4) and 50% in men 18-49 (1.2/4)”. I think the CW should be really pleased with SPN’s performance thus far and should make renewing the show for S7 more appealing. Finals Well, as predicted, due to the preemptions in the Chicago market coverage area both SV and SPN fell in total viewers, with SPN losing a greater audience share. SV held it’s Adult demo (18-49), while SPN dropped 0.1. The demos for Adults 18-34 were the same for both shows at 1.1/5 (a small drop) but for the third week running SPN outperformed SV in YW demo (1.0/4 vs. 0.9/4) Smallville (92% coverage CW normally 95%) - 2.302 million viewers - 1.4/3 HH - 1.0/4 A18-49 - 1.1/5 A18-34 - 0.9/4 W18-34 Supernatural (92% coverage) - 2.163 million viewers - 1.4/3 HH - 0.9/3 A18-49 - 1.1/5 A18-34 - 1.0/4 W18-34 In DVR Increases it was SPN's turn this week: Largest 18-49 Demo Percentage Increase From DVR Viewing for Broadcast TV Shows (October 4-10): SPN was #2 out of 25 shows with an adult 18-49 increase to 1.4 (40%) versus "Live + SD" adult of 1.0. This is very good. |

CW Friday scores again with even better results for the team of SV and SPN! Friday 10/015/10 SV Ep 10.04 3.18M (A18-49; 1.3/5) 200th episode Highest viewers in S10! Highest viewers since SV moved to Friday! SPN Ep 6.04 2.80M (A18-49; 1.2/4) Jensen Ackles – Director – Highest viewers (by slight margin) in S6 (TVbythenumbers.com has SPN at 2.81M viewers) In the Fast National both shows exceeded their “Premiere” ratings and kept their Premiere “Adults 18-49 demos)” which were this season’s highest. In the “Finals” both shows had increases in viewers and I hope this is what happens to both shows this week. From Mark Berman: “…The CW finished second overall among adults 18-49” (My Edit – Smallville was FIRST in the adult demo and Supernatural tied for SECOND in "adults" – Smallville was added to the "Friday Winners" after several request and there were some requests that Supernatural should get at least an “Honorable Mention” for it’s second place tie but alas the request was not granted.) (FYI, in the 2010 Premieres the CW finished third place in the Adult 18-49 demo , so I expect The CW to be VERY pleased by this Friday’s results) Finals Smallville - 3.188 million viewers - 1.7/3 HH - 1.3/5 A18-49 - 1.3/5 A18-34 - 1.1/5 W18-34 Supernatural - 2.844 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.2/4 A18-49 - 1.3/5 A18-34 - 1.3/5 W18-34 SV went up a fraction in the finals and SPN went up more but didn’t exceed the Final viewers in the premiere. For the fourth week SPN beat SV in the young women demo and matched the premiere (6.01) finals in the young women demo. A great Friday for both shows and as previously said a “series high” for SV in viewers its move to Friday. Edit 11/2/10: WooHoo big DVR increase (in adult demo [and viewers, but that’s not reported) for 6.04 WAB From TVthenumbers.com (week ending 10/17) Largest 18-49 Demo Percentage Increase From DVR Viewing for Broadcast TV Shows (October 11-17): (Gossip Girl was #2 in this category; OTH was #15) It’s a pity I can’t these results “translated “ in “increase in viewers” or increase in W(18-34) which is the key market for the CW. For shows that the low numbers of viewers that the CW shows do, even 33% increase in the adult demo doesn’t get SPN is any CW show on the table for largest percent change in total viewers; the lowest number of “Live + SD Viewers” in this category was “Parenthood” with just under 4.70M viewers. #11 (/25) Supernatural-10/15 1.2 1.6 0.4 33% |

Friday 10/22/10 SV Ep 10.05 2.48M (A18-49; 1.0/4) SPN Ep 6.05 2.48M (A18-49; 1.1/4) Interesting results. Both shows received identical viewers in the Fast Nationals. Though both shows fell dramatically in total viewers since their fantastic results last week, the CW still took “fourth” place – again - in total average viewers and “THIRD” place in the Adult Demo, beating NBC and Fox. So another successful Friday for the CW. (And in the Fast Nationals SPN beat SV by 0.1 adult demo point) Additionally, Mark Berman seems to count on SPN’s renewal for S7 as a given because he said SPN will likely take over SV’s 8 pm “anchor position”, though several posters disagreed (coz it’s too violent – have they seen some episodes of TVD?) and the soon to be retooled, "lighter" Nikita will take over SV’s place, leaving SPN at 9 pm as always. Yes, Nikita is to be CW-ized just as the "Suits" did to Supernatural in S3 by inflicting "us" with "Bela" character as a "Regular" so to make the boys and "Rubela" as a sexy foursome <_< . Also MB gave early results for “Adults 18-34” in half hour breakdowns and SPN soundly defeated SV in this category: Adults 18-34 Fast Nationals Smallville 8:00 p.m. - 0.9/ 4 8:30 p.m. - 1.1/ 4 Supernatural 9:00 p.m. - 1.2/ 5 9:30 p.m. - 1.2/ 5 Finals Complete Finals- SV improved over 100,000 in total viewers and SPN dropped 10,000 viewers; SPN beat SV in the critical (for the CW) young adults – not that it matters a lot since SV is in it’s final year but each little bit improves SPN’s renewal chances, though S7 as Mark Berman assumes is probably a given. Smallville - 2.600 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.1/4 A18-49 - 1.1/5 A18-34 - 0.9/4 W18-34 Supernatural - 2.470 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 1.1/4 A18-49 - 1.2/5 A18-34 - 1.1/4 W18-34 Edited 11-8 -10 to add DVR results For the week ending both SV and SPN got notable "Adult Demo (18-49) increases in the "Live + 7 day" charts: SV was #7 with an increase of 36% (1.1 to 1.5) and SPN was #25 with 27% (1.1 to 1.4) |

Friday 10/29/10 SV Ep 10.06 2.92M (A18-49; 1.2/4) SPN Ep 6.06 2.48M (A18-49; 1.1/4) SV improved in viewers over last week by over half million (based on Fast nationals )and by a great 20% in the Adults 18-49 and the sort of good news is that SPN retained its viewer totals from last week and it’s adult demo. The CW came in “fourth overall” in total viewers for the night beating Fox and took “third place” in the adult demo again beating NBC and Fox. I don’t expect this trend to continue because Fox is supposedly going to yank “The Good Guys” which in the 9 pm time slot. Finals Smallville - 2.956 million viewers - 1.7/3 HH - 1.2/4 A18-49 - 1.3/5 A18-34 - 1.0/4 W18-34 Supernatural - 2.517 million viewers - 1.4/3 HH - 1.1/4 A18-49 - 1.2/4 A18-34 - 1.3/5 W18-34 Both shows went up in the finals and both shows beat Nikita's "Finals" in total viewers (2.48M) and SPN beat Nikita in all demo groups. The CW must be very pleased with their Fridays this season. Both shows were the third highest of six episodes in total viewers and SPN matched the demos of the two highest in viewers (6.01 and 6.04) in W18-34, again beating SV in this demo. Edit 11/16/10 to add "Live + 7" DVR results: Both shows' adult demos increased substantially for their 6th episodes. SPN was the demo increase winner over SV for week ending 10/31 with SPN taking 5th place with a 36% demo increase from 1.1 to 1.5 and SV in 7th place with a 33% increase from 1.2 to 1.6. |
