I will now be providing results like this: For this week's rating post the results for Monday - Thursday because TVD and CEG premiere this Friday 10-21-19 and Friday Finals are never available until at the earliest Monday afternoon and I don't want to hold the 'weekly results' until then. So next's report will be Friday 10-21 -Thurs 10-27 and that will be the pattern until the next schedule change.

Early warning for tomorrow's results post - this week the Arrowverse collapsed with series lows for TF (1.0) and Arrow (0.6); SG was also down to 0.9 this week but I'm including SG because it's so new to The CW. Hopefully, LoT will not be negatively impacted pulling SPN down with it to a new potential series for both shows.

Ratings 10-17 to 10-20-16

10-17
SG 2.66M, 0.9 #2
JtV S3 Premiere 1.09M, 0.4 #5

10-18
TF 2.67M, 1.0 - -> series low #1
NT 0.81M, 0.3 #6t

10-19
Arrow 1.79M, 0.6 - -> yikes, a second series low in Arrowverse (not counting SG yet because it’s new to CW ) #4t
FRQ 1.04M, 0.3 #6t

10-20
LoT 1.80M, 2.02 0.7 #3 - -> adjusted up
SPN 12.02 1.61M, 0.6 #4t --> tie with Arrow

There was lots of important sporting events on that could have impacted SPN’s ratings, and the Chicago Cubs made the World Series this year. The new Chicago CW affiliate is a much smaller station than the former (WGN), even so I suspect many Chicago residents will tune in for the home Cubs games o over watching SPN. I have no clue yet when those games will air (haven’t checked yet).

CEG S2 Premiere 0.53M, 0.2 #7

10-24

SPN 12.03 1.68M, 0.6 #4t

SPN could be in a worst position but it’s still hanging in with the cool DC kids with a fraction of The CW promotion.

ETA 1: Select L+3's

L+3 data - a ratings glimpse, new-ish last year, is very hard to find for CW shows. TVBTN 'ignores it'(The CW), and several other rating sites I usually get ratings data from also don't have it and those that do, coverage is very spotty. Thanks to a poster on TVBTN I found data L+3 data for all broadcast shows for 'this week'including these LoT/SPN episodes. I will also post Arrow/FRQ data - that's as much as I looked for as I was primarily focused on data for LoT/SPN.

From http://programminginsider.com/ratings/fina...ure-genius-cbs/

(I also looked at Wednesday October 26's entry - 'PI.com' co-mod "SonoftheBronx" posts 'Finals' and occasionally posts L+3's)

CW........................ L+SD ... L+3
Arrow .................... 0.69 ... 1.08
Frequency ................ 0.31 ... 0.50

Legends of Tomorrow ...... 0.57 ... 0.89
Supernatural ............. 0.59 ... 0.92

That's roughly a 56% increase for Arrow, LoT and SPN. I didn't bother with FRQ.

ETA #2: Delayed viewing for week ending 10-30-16

Chart 1: TF 1.0 to 1.9, 90%

Chart 2:

No SG (0.8), NT (0.3) or CEG (0.2)

Chart 4:
SPN 1.683M to 2.640M , 57%
LoT 1.753M to 2.712M, 55%

(SG was at the bottom of Chart 4 with viewer increase of 51% but NT and CEG were not)

Hopefully good news ...

CW gives Legend of Tomorrow 4 more episodes

LoT now has a 17 episode order, up 1 episode over S1. As LoT and SPN have been a reasonably strong, compatible pairing, I hope that Thursday continues to be a strong night for The CW while LoT airs. Mid season schedules are due by December sometime and there's a possibility that SPN's Thursday lead-in will be weaker, that's assuming SPN isn't moved mid-season. Promising 'Newbie' Riverdale, The 100, iZombie and Reign have yet to be scheduled. My best guess is Reign will be scheduled for last Spring like the final season of Beauty and the Beast. The 100 is much too violent and too 'adult' for 8 pm, leaving either the comic book series of iZombie and Riverdale for the 8 pm slots that will open when LoT ends.

No news so far about No Tomorrow or Frequency - I'll add it when it becomes available. Update: No episodes added and will continue airing thru Jan 17 (NT) and Jan 25 (FRQ).

ETA: ARGG!
So much for extending LoT's episode count helping with SPN's stability :D and a possibly 'weak' Riverdale (it's getting good reviews from screeners so what do I know) leading into SPN. The reverse happened :ph43r: and the SPN will possibly be hard when DST resumes just as Arrow was hit hard every spring.

Midseason CW schedule came out today and there's some surprises:

The CW midseason 2017

Yes, Supernatural is moving again - but just a bit shocking time slot change, 8 pm leading into Riverdale at 9 pm. Legends of Tomorrow is completing the rest of it's 17 episode - up from 13 originally ordered - Tuesdays, post Flash, and is going to be replaced in April (after LoT finishes its S2 order by iZombie. The 100 is going post Arrow (as expected).

'No Tomorrow' (CBS owned) and Frequency (WB owned) DID not get more episodes are are capped at 13 apiece for S1 -doesn't necessarily mean they won't be renewed for S2's but it's not certain either will be renewed either - every few days lately I see a new potential CW series in the early stages of development.

The S1 finale of NT is January 17 and Frequency, January 25 (Arrow/FRQ/LoT/SPN/TVD/CEG are 'off' Thanksgiving week), likely meaning both shows will be 'burned off' in December/early-mid Jan 2017, allowing LoT to resume with the best lead-in and The 100 S4 and Riverdale to premiere in early Feb and late January, respectively. Riverdale, I read, was always intended for a January 2017 premiere date but the question was where should it go? The most popular slot was 'post' Flash and the second most, 'pre' Supernatural Thursday. Burning off NT and FRQ allows The 100 S4 to start earlier than if Frequency returned in late January and aired it's remaining episodes.

Since NT and FRQ will be the first of the current CW season to debut on Netflix 8 days after their finales The CW will have another chance to access whether the shows have substantial Netflix streaming before making a renew/cancel decision.

More in the article. It looks like SG/JtV come back January 23, 2017, TF/LoT Jan 24, Arrow/final S1 ep of FRQ Jan 25 (replaced by T100 Feb 1) and SPN/Riverdale on Jan 26, 2017. Look in various articles on the Friday CW shedule.

Note for this week starting 11-28-16 with Supergirl at 8 pm; M -TH is DC -verse crossover event and all four DC 8 pm shows (SG/TF/Arrow/LoT) are running over a one minute and the 9 pm shows are reduced by a minute so they end at 10 pm. So far I've seen ZERO promotion for SPN all last week and on tonight's SG but promos for all other shows including Friday shows.Boo. Hiss.

Stray observation - considering TVD inherited the CW Golden Child Mantle from Gossip Girl I see very little promotion push for the 'Final Season' of TVD. When Go G and Smallville aired their Final seasons you could barely avoid seeing one promo, sometimes more, for each show per CW broadcast hour.

Welp. All 4 DC shows hit season highs due to crossover synergy leaving SPN in 5th place as the show did not budge from its average of around 0.6, failing to increase because of LoT’s hitting its season high effectively doubling its average demo. (SPN would likely be in 5th anyway but a little higher if NBC had aired Chicago Med instead). In SPN’s ‘defense’ the show was against a major football game that erased any gain it might have had.

The 0.6 for SPN is a gift considering the Football Game, preemption in Baltimore - and the fact that neither 12.07 or 12.08 had very good online response except for very specific scenes in each. "TV Reporting' sites are saying it was saying it was the second most viewed NFL Game of the season with 'most viewed game' last Thursday, December 01.

When SPN returns January 26, 2017 it's new time slot is 8 pm (an hour earlier). (Crossing fingers that the 0.6 at least holds or slightly improves until the first short 'late winter' hiatus'.)

On Futon Critic, also on WinchesterBros website, SPN will re-air 12.01 at 9 pm on 12/22/16, and a rerun every week until the premiere. But FC is not very reliable because I assume the site gets their information from The CW and The CW often makes changes during hiatus periods.

Reign ending after current season

The upcoming 16 episode S4 Reign, which starts Friday, February 10, 2017 at 9 pm after CEG has aired its 13 episodes will be Reign’s final season. I assume Crazy Ex Girlfriend is safe for S3 and The 100 is also safe for S5, that is, unless The CW makes a late decision to cancel either show. NT and FRQ will probably be cancelled after their 13 episode are completed in January but one never knows what The CW will do. No word yet on the status of The Originals, airing 13 S4 episodes, premiering March 17, 2017 at 8 pm replacing the final season of TVD.

There are still two 'delayed viewing' results that are due; my daughter's visiting so I will could be late in in posting the next delayed viewing result.

I was really dreading looking at SPN's ratings today since everything with the exception of JtV was at least 0.1 down from Fall. The Riverdale Series Premiere really under-performed given the huge amount of promotion the show has received. Still I expect SPN/RD's ratings to fluctuate to some extent this winter as the normal CBS lineups and 1 new NBC show debuting next week may affect the duo's ratings.

ETA #1 L+3's February 2, 2017

Supernatural 0.62 ... 0.92
Riverdale 0.43 ... 0.65

SPN might not make top 25 this week on Chart 2 because the L+3 is lower than usual since I've been tracking L+3's; the Lot and SG Winter returns 'last week' also didn't make 'Chart 2' because their L+3's were low, too.

ETA #2: Live + 7 DVR results for week ending Feb 3, 2017

Chart 1:TF 1.1 to 1.8, 64%

Chart 2:
TVD 0.3 to 0.7, 133%; RD 0.4 to 0.8, 100%; JtV 0.3 to 0.6, 100%; Arrow 0.6 to 1.1, 83%; The 100 0.4 to 0.7, 75%; SG and LoT 0.7 to 1.2, 71%; SPN 0.6 to 1.0, 67%

Chart 4:
RD 1.151M to 1.907M, 66%
SPN 1.732M to 2.638M, 52%

I was really sweating SPN 12.10 (and will be sweating 12.11, too) making the Chart 2 top 25. Since S7 – SPN has never dropped below 1.0 when L+7’s are added in. Ratings have been stable at 0.6 so far but this season has been so very blah, so I’m expecting 0.5’s soon and not only due to DST affecting 8/7c pm shows more than 9/8c shows.
