Episode 6.14 “Mannequin 3: The Reckoning” DEAN RUSHES HOME TO CHECK ON LISA --- Ben (guest star Nicolas Elia) calls Dean (Jensen Ackles) and tells him Lisa (guest star Cindy Sampson) is in trouble. Dean leaves Sam (Jared Padalecki) to investigate a case alone and rushes home to rescue Lisa, however, he’s not prepared for what meets him at the door. Meanwhile, Sam discovers the men that were murdered were all a part of a cruel practical joke played on a female co-worker who went missing. Jeannot Szwarc directed the episode written by Eric Charmelo & Nicole Snyder (##614). Enjoy the episode and please rate and discussOK there's good news and possibly bad news about tonight's episode. The good - after a low ratings performance for Monday and Tuesday's CW shows (Wednesday was reruns of last week's TVD & Nikita episodes), TVD and Nikita rebounded some from their last week's poor performances, giving me some hope that SV and SPN's ratings will similarly improve. The bad - two new genre movies are premiering today and may affect tonight's ratings particularly Fringe and SPN's. |

I rated this episode awesome! I loved it from start to finish. I really felt for Dean when he was telling Ben that it's really over between him and Lisa. I was hoping that they would eventually find a way to work things out. The end scene was just perfect. I love that Sam thanked Dean getting his soul back. I think Dean already knew how grateful Sam was, but it was great that he got to hear Sam say it. |

I loved some parts of this one but it could have been a lot better.(hence, how I voted.) What I liked: I loved the MOTW. The spirit possessing the "dolls" to carry out her revenge was awesome! And having the cut appear on the men's foreheads first was cool, a kind of remember me move. The way the spirit was tied here was definitely different, too. Bet they don't see many of those. Loved Sam's little quips, especially the one about leaving the girl in the tub full of ice with a phone taped to her hand.. Oh, and can't forget the spirit taking over the impala!(Dean's dialog there was hilarious!) And most importantly: Sam is Sammy again! What I didn't like: Dean leaving Sam on a case without a word to him about checking in. After the flashback Sam had, Dean isn't worried it could happen again? He isn't concerned Sam might get hurt taking on the spirit by himself?(I know Sam is an adult, but when has that ever stopped Dean before?) The Gumby Girl/Dean crap- A montage of times Dean went to her? Seriously? And the things she told him didn't help matters. I was hoping she'd tell him she had moved on and how it never would have worked out between them because neither of them really loved the other. The load of guilt she piled on Dean for leaving them was unfair. And telling him she was trying to get over him means that she and Ben aren't really out of the picture. they could always pop up later. Dean's talk with Ben. I loved it until Dean spouted that crap about him not being around normal people. There are a ton of things he could have said that would have fit the situation and made for a wonderful touching moment but that wasn't it. that was a cop out. The return of poor pitiful Dean I thought we'd seen the end of all that pitiful pearl stuff. Apparently not. Did love Sam's answer though.(cause its true) I mean Dean has his brother, who he claims to love more than life itself, back from Hell, resouled, and not a sniffling, drooling mess and he's singing the poor me tune? Give me a break. Hope that's not going to be a recurring theme again. Poor me Dean is not attractive. |

I loved this episode up until the end. What gets me ... is that there was STILL no chemistry between Lisa and Dean. NONE. I hope she's moved on, I hope she forgets him because blah! Dean's speech about loving someone ... seemed more directed at Ben than Lisa, because God he'd have more chemistry with a doll than Lisa!!! Other than that ... the first scene ... was FRAWESOME! Dean all worried while Sam was out! It was just fantastic! I hope we have more flashbacks! |

Yeah, this episode was okay. The opening was amazing, because who doesn't love limp!sam and worried bigbrother!dean!! But after that it kind of fizzled for me. I agree that Dean and Lisa just had no chemistry, though I thought it was sweet how much Ben wanted Dean back. The MOTW was pretty cool, and I liked the ghost, but the way the case panned out left me feeling unsatisfied, though that might have been the point of it. Honestly, after last weeks AMAZING ep I didn't expect this one to have the same level of emotional impact, but it wasn't a bad ep either. I look forward to more flashbacks! *crosses fingers* |

I thought some parts of the episode was great and some parts were “brain stabbing” awful. I already popped in and rated it “Okay”. Pluses – Fantastic scene of pulling away from the Hellfire burning in Sam’s eye – Great continuity from last episode! - Great bro moments, Dean’s telling Sam in no uncertain terms that they tried “IT” Sam’s way and scratched the wall and now they were not going to do that again; Sam should just stuff IT down and deal with the hell memories like Dean does, with violence and alcohol. Of course that’s Dean’s way of “dealing” – I don’t expect Sam to deal Dean’s way, but I do expect Sam’s Hell sl is backburnered for a least the next several episodes. Maybe we’ll see Sam’s “Hell Defense Mechanism” in action in the next few episodes. - Great Sammy stuff investigating the case – initial and throughout the case, great Dean stuff, too. It wasn’t Sam’s fault that burning Rose’s bones didn’t get rid of her spirit. I guess that the boys don’t encounter too many vengeful spirit cases where they have to do more than a Salt and Burn. - Very humorous Dean moment with call back to MBV with Dean’s offering Sam the Anatomical Dummy heart. - Good for Sam in encouraging Dean to go take care of Lisa - but . - Great that Sam and Dean were trying to strategize ways of saving Isabelle without cutting her kidney out and burning it. - Great bro moment at the end of the ep – Sam saying thank you to Dean for saving “him” and Dean listening this time and not defusing the sincerity of the apology with a snarky comment; kudos to Sam for saying they were going to lose some but hopefully win more. Neutral – Direction or writing problem. The episode was jerky with too many pauses or odd cut scenes, particularly after the sewing shop mannequin killed the janitor – it took forever for the camera to pan out. I thought M3TR was the second poorest paced episode of season, the premiere being the worst. The same writers penned YCHTT and I did note that that episode was “jerky”, too, but that episode as a whole was better than M3TR. Bad – the MOTW’s method of killing. As someone said on another board the “Old Navy” mannequins are scarier. I found it unbelievable that the last victim couldn’t move fast enough to get away from his "female dress up" mannequin. Although having Ghost!Rose attached to her sis’s kidney was a pretty good twist, I’m having trouble with the “timing” of the revenge killings. Did “Rose” decide to start killing after the anniversary of her death? For my part, when the show does any form of “vengeful” spirit story line I always consider the timing/motivation of spirits. Sometimes the show does a great job – TUS, Roadkill, BS, ASS – to name a few – and sometimes the show does a lousy job and YF and M3TR come to mind. Second Bad – The L&B storyline. Hate it. I did wish for cleaner, friendlier break-up – that would boost Dean's self -esteem - but maybe that was the point and goes back to Dean’s saying in “Unforgiven” that they leave messes wherever they go. Sam couldn’t clean up all the messes left by his soulless self and Dean couldn’t completely clean up the L&B storyline (I’m referring to the L&B sl as Dean’s attempt to mix “normal” with “hunting” and the two don’t ordinarily mix unless L wanted to become involved in Dean’s “Hunting Life” and she made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with this lifestyle). I hope it’s over and I’m 80 – 90% sure it is. Since there’s already been novels written on other sites either arguing that this sl is salted and burned or the opposite (the show left room for L&B to return “someday”) I don’t feel like adding my own strong anti-L/B response. For now, I’m sure it’s over and we’re getting our frisky Dean back. |
