ur at a pond with a bomb and to dismantle the bomb u need 4 litres to put on the scale so the bomb dismantles the scale doesnt measure and u only have 1 chance and five minutes,the only way u can dismantle it is with a 5 litre bottle with 1 marking saying 5 litres and a 3 litre bottle wich also has a mark all u have to do is make 4 litres out of a 3 litre bottle and a 5! it may sound hard and confusing but if u put ur mind to it its easy!! try it out

my basic digest of the problem is that aim: we need 4 litres of water to dismantle a bomb equipment: source of water (pond) 3 litre bottle with mark at 3l 5 litre bottle with mark at 5l we can reason that the difference between the 3 and 5 litre marks is 5-3 = 2l Firstly i would fill up the 3l bottle and pour it into the 5l bottle. I would then make a mark of the 3l level on the 5l bottle. Now i have a 5l bottle with a 3l and 5l mark. I fill the 5l bottle up to the 5l mark and empty into the 3l bottle until it gets down to the 3l mark. Effectively I now have 2l in the 3l bottle. Finally I refill the 5l bottle and empty another 2l combined with the 2l in the 3l bottle onto the scales. 4l on scales, bomb dismantled? |

very good didnt think bout that and u got it right but u can get 2l in the 3l bottle without putting a mark on 5l bottle try solving it because so u got it right and u done the steps ur meant to do but try it withought the marks bye and have a try!

You can get 2L into the 3L bottle by: 1) Fill up 5L bottle 2) Empty into 3L Bottle until 3L bottle is full (2L left in 5L bottle) 3) Empty 3L Bottl 4) Pur the 2L from the 5L bottle into the 3L bottle. 5) Pour the 2L onto the scale and repeat for another 2L This method requires 2 deliveries of 2L. my assumption originally was that the 4L needs to be delivered in one "go" so speak. |
