We took the kids to Alton Towers in the spring of last year. It just occured to me that not everyone might be aware of the excellent service Alton Towers provides for kids with special needs. On arrival we were directed to a car park right next to the entrance. This was great as the boys were excited and James in particular was really buzzing (Even after his medication) When we'd paid to go in we then went to the guest services centre where we had to prove the children had disabilites. I took their DLA award letters. The 5 of us were then given wristbands that meant that we didn't have to queue. I think the think that impressed me the most was that my daughter wasn't left out. At Alton towers they recognised that we came as a group and everyone was included. Gemma has put up with a lot living with my two and it was one of the rare times she felt really proud to be with them. It made what could have become a really explosive experience, wonderful. My boys can't queue. Keeping them in one place for a few minutes is task enough. James is hyperactive, so much so he has Ritalin to keep him down and just driving to the place had him bouncing all over the back seat. It was a really special day and Alton Towers treated us like royalty. I wrote to them after saying how brilliant everyone had been. The staff were so good with the boys it had me choked. At one point Mark threw a massive panic and we had to get them to let us exit the ride. The staff never moaned, never flapped at all they knew exactly how to help. So if you go, remember the bands. They really do make a difference. (Please note that there had to be an over 18 year old on any of the bigger rides with one of the children) |

That's wonderful, you hear so many bad things about amusement parks that it's lovely to hear something positive for a change. If you ever get the chance you should go to a place called Sundown, it's an amusement park especially for young children, here's the link: http://www.sundownadventureland.co.uk/index.asp The nursery did their trip there last year and all the kids loved it. I was dreading taking Brandon but I needn't have worried, he was smashing all day. He was having so much fun that he forgot to be naughty. |

There were half price admission tickets in yesterdays Sun, don't know if anyone is interested but it will save you fourteen pounds per ticket which can't be bad. |

Wish I'd known about that earlier!!
 Not that we have time to go over the next few weeks with a house warming party to go to, both my kids parties, and another birthday party of James' friend!! Great find though Mandy. AT is so expensive. |

Hiya everyone, I hope that the school holidays have been event free and without too much trouble I don't if anyone is aware but Chessington World of Adventures as well as Thorpe Park do concessions for disabled people and their families. We use this facility for my husband as he has a disability and we have been on oyr 3rd visit to Chessington last week. The other half will agree about Alton Towers. He went to 2 other people and they have a great time there. Trisha

Once again we've been back to Alton Towers, once again they were brill and the wristbands made all the difference. This time we managed to stay all day and got two carers in with each of the boys saving ourselves a massive £102 |
