Mand is probably better at it than me but you have to be in reciept of higher rate of the Mobiltity portion of the DLA allowance they use this as payments on the car ,i have a Renault Kangoo i paid £95 up front to get a few extras like a CD player but the basic model needed no upfront payment then you sign over your mobility portion over to them ,this also covers your insurance ,the nominated driver or drivers will recive comprehensive insurance but only for the car designated you cannot take it with you if you get my drift ? excess for a new driver i think is £100 which drops to £75 but they dont do a no claims scheme ,also all my windows are coverd and tyres and we get full RAC cover i think its a great scheme , we would never have been able to afford a car other wise hmmm any thing else mate ?? oh you can go to the Motability website and check out the cars available on the scheme and it will also tell you all about it

ALso , if you require a vehicle that need modifications or needs a deposit and you cant afford it, you can apply for a grant to pay for it - although it is means tested.

The vehicle we have includes all the servicing, wear and tear (Tyres, Exhaust, etc..), insurance, breakdown. But you can also do it using the Hire purchase scheme, you don't get the servicing and insurance, but you do own the car at the end of the term.

The vehicle we got is good, although I have found them a bit difficult to deal with when there is a problem, also RAC breakdown are pretty poor when it comes to recoving you if you have special requirements - when we broke down we were told that if they couldnt get the vehicle started and it had to be towed to a garage that they could not take the wheelchairs and these would have to stay in the our vehicle. Which I found really bad as Ethan and Luca both rely on their wheelchairs to get around.

Sorting out the vehicle under the motability scheme was pretty straight forward though. We applied before Ethan was 3, and they had the vehicle ready and delivered to us on his 3rd Birthday.
