BRITISH GAS WINTER REBATE SCHEME

British Gas has announced a winter rebate scheme for the winter of 2006/2007. Families (or single people) receiving qualifying benefits and whose gas and/or electricity are supplied by British Gas can claim a payment of £60 per annum towards the cost of their gas and/or £30 towards their electricity. The payments will be made during the last 2 quarters of 2006/7.

Qualifying benefits include Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carers Allowance, Working & Child Tax Credit, Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance, Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance Pension Credit, War Disablement Allowance and War Pensions. People wanting to claim a rebate must register by ringing 0845 601 2006. This should be done as soon as possible as there are only 300,000 rebates available.
