Once your child is 3 years old he/she is entitled to free nappies for life. This can be extended to cover protective pants, liners, disposable draw-sheets etc. To find out more contact your health visitor or community nurse.

I wish I'd known this earlier, it would have helped with Brandon. Amazing how the people in the know don't tell you these things isn't it!

ERM!!!!!!! embarrassed now....I would have told you had it occurred to me that you weren't alreeady getting them for free. HOWEVER, a continence assessment can be a lengthy process, as they need to screen for infection etc etc. I dont know what the system is for children, I presume its the same as for adults (I dont visit children) but adults have to need a minimum of 2 pads in 24 hrs to be eligible, and they will get a maximum of 4 pads in 24 hrs. This also includes washable be sheets and so on. There are also continece clinics which it may be appropriate to refer to. The treatment for incontinence extends beyond the provision of pads, to include excercises (if deemed appropriate) and other therapies.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Don't you worry about not telling us  I was talking about people like health visitors and doctors etc. Many a time I told these sorts of people that Brandon still wet himself and they never mentioned a thing. I think they keep this information quiet so as to save money.

My son diddn't need an assessment to get them, I was told to apply by the peadtrition through the health visitor. They bring them in boxes to the door every 3months, so you'll need a place to store them, but they are well worth it.
