I somehow get the feeling that this topic wont last very long, but i'll post it anyway. Lots of new info on this game, including: http://gonintendo.com/?p=11844 Game will feature 10 levels, 5 of which are listed below -Sand Oasis -Dinosaur Jungle -Evil Foundry -Levitated Ruin -Pirate Storm Sonic now has customizable skills. It is said that there are somewhere around 100 skills that Sonic can learn. Skills range from how Sonic handles, to his moves, to special abilities. Sonic holds 4 rings that allow for 500 points worth (each) of skills. Experience points are earned through the main game. One new move slows down time through a soul meter. This move is much like the speed up move we saw in various trailers, but with an opposite outcome. 40 multiplayer games Each level has 10 missions such as stealth attack, rampage, chain challenge, beat the clock, and more. More detailed info from someone at GameFAQs Games Master gave an exclusive preview of the game in their newest issue. First of all, the game is 85% done right now. The game will have 10 levels, 5 of which were named in the magazine- Sand Oasis Dinosaur Jungle Evil Foundry Levitated Ruin Pirate Storm Sonic has 100 new skills in this game. At the beginning you start out with a basic set of movements, you can earn more skills with EXP from playing the main game. With the new skills you can tweak sonic's handling to perfection. The skills can be assigned to one of four rings, each ring has a 500 point capacity. Each of the rings can hold a huge amount of skill sets allowing you to tailor sonic how you want which is essential for the challenges, as you'll need different handling each time. One of the moves is the soul meter which allows you to speed boost or slow down time, we've seen the speed bost in past videos but the slow down time makes the screen grey in a pic in the mag. The other moves tweak your handling, attack power, braking and jumping. There are 40 multiplayer minigames. Eacch stage has 10 missions, these include- Beat the clock - Simple time trial Stealth Attack - Get through the level without defeating a single enemy Chain challenges - Collect rings without taking a hit Rampage - Kill a certain amount of enemies No Pearl - Get no charge for your soul meter Special challenges unique to each stage The controls are - Tilt - Left/Right to steer. Back/Forward to accelerate/back-pedal 1- Cancel 2 - Jump D-Pad up - Boost D Pad down - Slow time Flick forward to attack Here's there review of the preview- The +'s- 1. The depth to the handling and skill settings 2. Seems to have massive replay value The -'s- 1. Some handling niggles 2. Some dodgy soundtrack and voice work ![]() ![]() This game is actually looking really cool! I just wish it was a free roaming game, then i would love this game with or without Shadow! *audience gasps* My only concern is that its only 85% complete and the release date is Feb/March depending on where you live. That means they have about a month to do the remaining 15%, which isnt good. Just look what happened to Sonic 06 when it got rushed. Still a good game, but no unlockables and waaaaaaaaaaay to long loading times. I really hope they work hard to make this game give some dignity back to the Sonic series. (In the reviewer's eyes, that is) |

Oh wow, this game is looking a lot better then expected! I agree with you though Tom, but I think that date is too close to have it out by then. Because they need to finish the game, then distribute it, which will take a while, so the release date will probably (and hopefully, for the game's sake) be pushed back. They seem to be doing good now, with Sonic's skills and the 40 multiplayer mini-games. |

As of now, it looks like they're just doing the original Sonic gang, which has its pro's and cons. It'll be cool to have Sonic, Tails, Amy and Knux, it'll be like the Sonic Adventure days, but Shadow is great to play as, because he has his mysterious spark. I think they did this for the anti-Shadow people, considering the Shadow fans got their own game. |

Looky! 4 secret characters for multiplayer!!!! Im guessing that Shadow and Rouge and definately in. I would say the last two could be people like Silver, Cream, Metal Sonic ect, but i think they may include characters from the story.

It would be sweet to have Metal Sonic in, he's been due for his own game. in Sonic Adventure DX he could play the levels, but he deserves his own story, he has been around forever. |

Someone has summerised the article on this game in the next issue of Nintendo Power. It reveals Knuckles is Sinbad, Tails is Ali Baba, and Eggman is the king of Persia. MULTIPLAYER IS- get this- A BOARD GAME WITH MINIGAMES! It is Sonic Shuffle 2... Also, you collect Secret Rings (replacement of Chaos Emeralds) by finding them in the levels, not a special stage. Also, there are 8 levels with 12 missions each, and they can take you anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes to complete. 0_o There also may be 2 secret levels. There's over 200 unlockables, including powers, concept art, characters, and secret levels! There may be two secret levels... NP has revealed two (awesome) parts of two levels. In one level, you'll be running across a fossil yard when the skeletons suddenly come to life. In another stage, Sonic has to run on the backs of flying beasts! Also, they say one of the bosses is a giant robot trapped in a molten pool of hot metal. When the robot tries to pull himself out of the pool, you have to ram all of his fingers. He then falls back into the pool, allowing you to run across his shoulders and hit his head. Also, cutscenes are played out like a sketch pad! Also, in the same issue, there's a Sonic and the Secret Rings ad, and it says it's release date is February 2007! And the UK magazine over here will have new info on this game next month too. |

And then too top it off, hows about replace the Chaos Emeralds AND turn the previously decent CGI's into sketchbook animations!? What the hell are sega thinking!? Too date, i'd put money on this coming out as one of the most dissapointing Sonic game. EVER. |

Really? I think this game will actually be really good. Obviously, the story and VA will not be the best, but in terms of gameplay and unlockables, this game sounds fantastic! If what that magazine is saying is true, then we are more or less getting Sonic and the Secret Rings + Sonic Shuffle 2. Ive never played SS1 and ive heard its quite bad, but im sure this one will be better. Replacing the Chaos Emeralds is understandable, as he is not in the real world where they exist. Even so, they may still make an appearance somehow. Im a little annoyed about the sketchbook animations, but its something new and im willing to give it a go. Plus, it makes sense making them sketchbook animations, since he is in a book and is "re-writing", so to speak, the last few pages of the stories. Im interested to see Eggbotnik in this game. Its always been his dream to be king in one way or another and it looks like hes finally got his wish. Im just woundering if the characters are aware of who they are meant to be, or if they actually believe that they are the characters they are portrayed as. Oh yes, and by the way, if you look at the picture i posted 2 posts ago you'll see a picture of a man and woman either side of the big sonic picture. Well the guy is definately Erazor, and i think the girl is the fairy. |
