Force powers were the manifestations of a Jedi, Sith, or other Force-adept's connection with the Force. According to the theory that the Force is one, the light and dark powers did not actually describe the Force, but rather, defined how an individual used it; whether to directly harm his enemies, or help himself overcome situations. Thus the aggressive or vengeful abilities inherently belonged to the dark side, while those which were healing, defensive, self-empowering, or diversionary belonged to the light side.

core force powers

The Core powers were the first powers a Jedi learned, and directly affected his own body or objects without actually harming or benefiting anything (except for Push, which could be used against enemies).

Telepathy:Telepathy was the very basic ability to mentally communicate over small or vast distances with other individuals. Every Force user, Jedi or Sith, was able to use it. It is not known if targets of this ability have to be Force-sensitive or not.

Telekinesis:Telekinesis was a neutral ability that most Jedi had. With it, they could lift objects according to their concentration and move them, hovering the items in any direction.

Force Pull/Push:Force Pull was a telekinetic ability using the Force that could cause a material body to draw close to the caster. The greater the user's aptitude with this, the heavier the object that could be pulled or the more wide arc or radius of the force 'wave'. It could be used to pull the weapons from enemies, or, at higher levels of skill, the enemies themselves to be brought closer to the Jedi's lightsaber range. This power was also very useful when a chasm or hole lay between the caster and the enemies. Force Push was a telekinetic ability of the Force that could cause a material body to be pushed from the caster. The greater the user's aptitude with this, the heavier the object that could be pushed or the more wide arc or radius of the force "wave". This power could be used to push enemies away. Apart from throwing them at walls, this could stun them to buy time for the caster; the darkest use of this ability was its usefulness when enemies were near chasms or holes.

Force Jump/Leap:Force Jump used the Force to augment the user's natural leaping ability. Force users adept in this technique could perform awe-inspiring vertical/horizontal leaps with impunity. The user could leap tremendous distances when combining this technique with that of Force Speed.

Burst of Speed:Force Speed was a Force power that allowed the user to maintain sprinting speeds (even moving in awkward directions like backwards) for a brief time. Greater aptitude granted greater boosts to speed and/or greater duration.
The increased speed of the Jedi enabled him to see the world and the entities around him in slow motion. This allowed the Jedi to dodge attacks easier, and attack quicker with greater accuracy. The duration and the amount of speed were subject to the user's skill in the Force.

Force Sense:Force Sense was a very basic Force ability of a Jedi, used in order to feel other person's feelings, the future and the presence of the Dark Side. A concentrated, directed form of this ability is likely how Jedi were able to Force See others.

Force Seeing:Force Seeing was a basic Force ability, perhaps related to Force Sense. It enhanced the bearer's visual and spatial perception even in the dark or behind walls. Trained users could have their sight amplified and were able to counter-attack Force Persuasion and Force Blinding powers. The Miraluka relied on this power constantly in lieu of their physical blindness. They could not perceive colors, viewing the world in shades of gray, but could distinguish organics (even dead) from the surrounding environment by their characteristic glow. Most objects, including doors and walls, appeared translucent, allowing to see through them.

Force Empathy:Force Empathy was a Force power related to Force Sense, but involving picking up impressions and traces of information about the object touched and the events that have surrounded it. The Kiffar were able to use this power, and, particularly, Quinlan Vos was skilled with its use.

Farsight: Farsight was a rare Force ability. When used, it allowed the Jedi's spirit to leave their body and go where they pleased. It was especially useful in battles or reconnaissance missions where exploration was needed in hostile areas without being noticed.

Saber Throw:Saber throw was an offensive usage of the lightsaber. It is not clear if it was an ability of itself or a technique of combination of powers like Force Pull.

Force Cloak: Force Cloak is a rarely seen Force ability. Users with this rare ability can use the Force to bend light around themselves, rendering them invisible to others. The liability of this can be seen when machines/aliens that can scan beyond the visible light portion of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as infrared, easily note the person.

Force Concealment: Force Concealment can be used by highly skilled Force users to mask their Force alignment (Light or Dark), their ability to use the Force, or even their entire presence from others who are Force sensitive.

universal

powers were generic Force techniques which were associated with neither side of the Force. Almost all Core powers also qualified as Universal powers, but many of them were uncommon and not an integral part of basic Jedi training.

Comprehend Speech:Comprehend Speech is a Force ability that enables a Jedi to understand the spoken language of any sentient he's interacting with, though it does not necessarily allow him to speak it, merely understand the general meaning. It is possibly an extension of the Telepathy power, as Revan was described as "ripping the Rakatan language from their minds," comprehending their tongue only moments after meeting them. Obi-Wan Kenobi also demonstrated this ability on Nelvaan, able to understand and translate the speech of a Nelvaanian shaman, though some of the nuances of the speech evaded him. Use of the ability is aided if the sentient itself is Force sensitive to some degree, as demonstrated when Luke Skywalker encountered the Qom Jha on Nirauan, and found he understood their language without making attempt to interpret it.

Force Whirlwind—variation of Force Push: Force Whirlwind was a more advanced form of Force Push. The Jedi would alter the air currents around an opponent, turning it into a maelstrom. This swirling force would lift an opponent into the air, spin them around, and completely immobilize them. This allowed the Jedi to attack without resistance. One of the most notable uses of this ability was from Jacen Solo when confronting Tsavong Lah on Duro. Jedi Master Streen demonstrated a natural talent for this abilty.

Force Wave—advanced version of Force Push:Force Wave was the most powerful form of Force Push. It was more widespread, like a wave, hence the name, and could push multiple opponents at once. It was very useful in tight, cramped quarters when the Jedi needed room to move, since he could damage his opponents by pushing them into the walls. It could also be used as "crowd control," when overwhelming numbers of enemies immediately swarm towards the user. Using Force Wave gives the Jedi time to rethink his strategy and cast more Force powers, or he could also attack his fallen opponents as they are stunned. Mace Windu and Yoda used this power against Super Battle Droids during the Second Battle of Coruscant. Mace also used this power when he lost his lightsaber on Dantooine in Clone Wars

Force Suppression :Force Suppression attacked the will of the target canceling all first and second tier Force powers. This would individually affect each active Force power.

Force Breach—advanced version of Force Suppression:Force Breach is a Force power that interupts all other powers in use at the time. It is a technique employed at times when a foe is preparing for an attack by disrupting their concentration and scrambling their focus. Force Breach is not a widely known Force power, but is used by Jedi and Sith alike, being a universal power.

Force Bellow :Bellow was a Force power in which the user would amplify their voice using the Force. A normal yell would be able to fill a far larger space than normal

Force Body :Force Body was a universal force technique that allowed the user to use the force with their own life energy along with force energy.

Force Deflection (without a lightsaber):Force Deflection was a universal power used by Jedi who were without a lightsaber, or chose not to carry one. It is unknown exactly if the Jedi merely created a wall using the Force to deflect blaster bolts, or if he actually deflected them back with his hand. It took much skill in the Force to use this, however, and most Jedi used their lightsabers instead to deflect blaster bolts.

Breath Control :Using the Force Power Breath Control, a Jedi could literally numb the body's instinct to shut itself down after long periods without oxygen, allowing the user to be able to go without breathing for hours, even days. This was very effective in situations where the air was very thin, underwater, or in any environment with toxic fumes

Malacia :Malacia was a Jedi technique that used the Force to induce a powerful dizziness and nausea in enemies. It was completely incapacitating, but caused no damage to the body, and so was not considered a Dark Side power. Victims of this Force power that have high mental dexterity will be able to withstand it, but an attack with Malacia by a Jedi Master is rarely blocked.

Psychometry:Psychometry was a Force sense that was a mental technique of picking up impressions and traces of information about the object touched and the events that have surrounded it. About one in one hundred Kiffar were able to use this power. The Vos line of Kiffar had more than their share of psychometrically-abled Kiffar. Most with this ability became Kiffar Guardians. Quinlan Vos often used psychometry. Use of the dark side enabled posessors of the power to use it on living beings, ripping memories from their brains.

Precognition :Precognition was a universal Force power. Precognition warned the Force-sensitive whenever they were about to enter extreme danger (For example, seeing a vision of enemies waiting on the other side of a door before the door was opened). These warnings were rare, and sometimes not very effective against a much quicker foe.

Enhance Ability:Enhance Ability is a Force power that boosts the user's abilities, empowering his or her strength, dexterity, and endurance. Yoda uses this ability to overcome the infirmities of old age, which is quite necessary for a practitioner of Form IV lightsaber combat.

Force Comprehension: Force Comprehension was the ability to absorb and interpret great quantities of information rapidly by speeding up the user's neural processes. This technique could be used to study an enemy's fighting style or to gain information about a subject or event over an incredibly short period of time. One practitioner of this ability was the Jedi Exile. When he fought Master Vrook in a sparring match on Dantooine, the Exile gained complete mastery of his lightsaber form simply by observing the Jedi Master fight for a few moments. Force Comprehension required that the user possess at least a basic knowledge of the topic he was comprehending. Without this knowledge the user would simply speed up his neural processes and exhaust himself. Many Force users were wary of this ability, since on occasion knowledge learned at such a fast pace elicited strong emotions in the user. Therefore, the technique was not commonly used by the Jedi. Force comprehension found little favor with the Sith as well, simply because they had little use for non-destructive force powers. For these reasons, Force comprehension was considered to be a universal power.

Force Vision :Force Visions were rare—but powerful—aspects of the Force, and considered the cornerstone of the Unifying Force. Generally, when peering deep into the Force, a Force user had the potential to see events that could happen in the future. Force Visions were extremely rare, and uncontrolable. Often, one would meditate to gain a vision, but only a few would actually succeed.

Battle Meditation:Battle meditation was a manifestation of the Force which instilled in the meditator's allies a greater morale in battle and reduced the enemy's will to fight. Using the Force, one could coordinate entire fleets of ships, allowing them to perform at maximum efficiency, acting as one to counter every enemy move quickly and effectively.

lightside

Light side powers were those which benefited the Jedi personally by protecting him, increasing his physical and mental capacities, or defending him. They could also inspire and increase the resolve of allies. Certain light side powers could also be used offensively, but did not directly cause physical harm.

Force Healing:The user used the Force to accelerate the natural healing process rapidly for a short duration. Initial levels required meditation, but greater aptitude usually granted faster regeneration, without need of meditation. The Jedi of the New Jedi Order use this ability in the form of a trance

Ray:Ray is a Force technique used by Jedi skilled in enegy manipulation. With this power a Jedi can turn small amounts of nearby matter into energy that can be controlled. With this energy a Jedi can block attacks both blaster bolt and lightsaber, although the latter is not recommended. Manipulating Ray to stop a fast-moving lightsaber at close range can be dangerous and using another lightsaber instead would be a smarter decision. Only experienced Jedi should use Ray. Eventually, Ray will disipate if it takes too much of a beating, disappearing in the form of a flash of heat.

Energy :Energy is a force power that is similar to ray. However this ability is not meant only to defend. A small amount of matter is transformed into energy that the user can manipulate. This energy is, of course, hot and can be used to bludgeon or burn through things. It is almost never used to inflict pain, as it goes against the Jedi Code. It is a poor weapon in any case, as the energy will disipate quickly into heat upon hard contact. A blaster rifle would be a better choice.

Jedi mind trick(also known as Affect Mind) :The mind trick was a Force technique employed by Jedi to influence the thoughts of the weak-minded. In particular, it was often invoked to coerce the target of this power into agreement by suggestion, to cause one to reveal information, or to appeal to a sensory impression for distraction (e.g., to imitate the sound of footsteps emanating from a corridor for sneaking past a guard). This tactic allowed its practitioners to resolve matters in a non-violent way.

Force Persuasion:Force Persuasion was a Force power, probably a lesser 'rank' of the Mind trick. It is not clear if the name was just an alternative name for the Mind trick, or described a variant of that power.

Unlike the well known Mind Trick, its purpose was not to persuade the target to agree with the caster, but to persuade him, her, or it that the Jedi was not there. The Jedi thus became virtually invisible in the mind of the target

Force Projection:Force projection was a mysterious and rare Jedi ability. It was a technique with which a Jedi created an inanimate apparition similar of himself, used to distract, confuse or lure enemies

Force Meld:Force Meld or Jedi meld was a technique where a number of Force users joined their minds together through the Force, drawing strength from each other. A refinement of Battle Meditation, it was known to the Old Jedi, though dangerous; Jorus C'baoth performed it four times in his life. Anakin Solo re-developed it for the New Jedi Order during the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Hibernation Trance:Hibernation Trance or Jedi hibernation was an ability of a Force user to go into a very deep hibernation state. This slowed down the user's metabolism and breathing to a standstill. A fully trained Force user could stay in this state for up to four standard days. It is likely Jedi Master Tholme may have used this ability on numerous occasions, such as to place himself outside of his former apprentice's (Aayla Secura and Quinlan Vos) thoughts so they could fight clearly in times of great struggle.

Electric Judgement:Electric Judgment was a Force technique used by Plo Koon, and it was the light side version of Force lightning, which was a dark side power. It showed up as yellow or green energy instead of blue or white, like Force lightning. For instance, Plo Koon would shoot lightning from his fingertips to wound enemies. Other Jedi would not use it, as it resembled the Force lightning of the Sith.

Combustion:Combustion was the Force ability that allowed users to make an object explode by sheer force of will. It was never used on a person, but its effects on inanimate objects was devastating. Depending on the size, density and vulnerability of the object in question, combustion would become harder or easier to use successfully. It is disputed whether combustion can be prevented and stopped if another force user is concentrating on an object to keep it from exploding. This may cancel it out, or it may do nothing. Yarael Poof was known to use this power

Alter Environment:Alter Environment was a Force power that involved various techniques that allowed the user to manipulate nature, enabling the creation of such phenomena as Force whirlwinds or fog over limited areas. Plo Koon further modified this ability with his considerable knowledge of physics.

Force Protection:Force protection was a Light Side Force power only achieved by high-rank Jedi masters. This would make the bearer invulnerable to a wide range of attacks until it wore off, either through time, or if the user was fatigued. Protection could also wear off quicker than normal, depending on the intensity and number of attacks at once, since the aura itself could only withstand so much.

Protection Bubble:Protection Bubble was a Force power, probably related to Force Protection. With this Force power, the user could create a defensive sphere around their body. It could protect the user from a wide range of attacks, deflect laser blasts, and even inflict small amounts of damage upon contact with the enemy. Cin Drallig used this power to protect him while he meditated and healed during his duel with Darth Vader in the Jedi Temple. A variation called Force Field was a Force power that generated a large energy field around the user, damaging and knocking out nearby foes. It was partially the dark side equivalent of Protection Bubble, a light side ability, with the difference being that it did not protect the user.

Force Defend:Force Defend is a light side Force ability. The user focuses their will into creating a defensive aura that surrounds them, which protects them from Force powers, negating their effects. It is often used to combat offensive Force powers, and the dark side.

Force Absorb:It negated the harmful characteristics of certain offensive Force powers, such as Force Push and Force Lightning. Force Absorb would channel the offensive Force powers into Force energy, refreshing the user's connection to the Force. This technique became a useful one to Jedi that specialized in using Force powers. As they felt their energies running low, they could simply absorb power from others to feed themselves. Force Absorb has also been described as a "non-harmful Force drain".

Dissipate Energy:Yoda was so skilled with the Force that he used his open palms to absorb dark lightning, in duels with both Dooku and Sidious. This is the most powerful technique when used by Yoda and may be conneted to Force Deflection.

Force Blinding:Force Blinding was a Light Side Force power. It emanates as a blinding flash of energy, causing the target's vision to overload, creating temporary blindness. It is very useful as a mean to stun the opponent for a finishing stroke.

With it, a Jedi could obfuscate any person's vision, making it very difficult of being spotted and targeted, and converting the enemy to a more fragile position. It could be counter-attacked by Force Sense.

Battlemind:Battlemind was a Force power wherein one's morale and fighting spirit was augmented through sheer focus. Mace Windu called upon this technique in addition to more Dark Side-related abilities to exercise Vaapad (see lightsaber combat).

Morichro:Morichro was a proscribed technique entrusted to few Jedi during the years leading up to the last days of the Jedi Council. Yaddle, a long-lived Jedi Master, was one of the most prominent practitioners of this dangerous technique. Morichro worked in a way similar to a Force trance. It slowed a being's metabolism, breathing, and heart rate (or similar biological systems). Unlike a Force trance, Morichro could be used to affect beings other than the Jedi employing the technique. Abusing this power can be fatal. For this reason, the Jedi Council forbade its use, despite the fact that Dark Side Force-users were not known to use this technique, since studying Morichro typically required the student to master less malevolent uses of the Force.

Force Stun:Force Stun was a Light side Force power that temporarily deadened the senses and perceptions of an enemy. It was often used when faced against large numbers of opponents. The Jedi would use the Force to render their opponent senseless, inducing them into a catatonic state.

Force Stasis:Force Stasis is a more potent and widespread version of Force Stun. The Jedi will use the Force to deaden the senses of a large group of enemies at once. This is very useful in tight spots when the Jedi is greatly outnumbered.

Force Valor:Force Valor is a Light Side Force power that increases the resolve, accuracy, and speed of one's self and one's allies. Tapping into the Force, a Jedi can increase the rate at which one's capacities function, allowing the body to move quicker, strike more powerfully, and have improved accuracy. The more wise, charismatic, and skilled the caster is, the more profound the effects of Force Valor will be. Luke Skywalker used Force Valor in the Battle of Yavin.

Force Light:Force Light was the immense Force power used to purge a dark side manifestation from a nexus point, be it in a place, spirit, or even a person. Yoda used this ability on Dagobah.

Force Enlightenment:Force Enlightenment was a very rare Light Side Force power. The only known Jedi to ever master it was the Jedi Exile, who learned it after the conversation with Jedi Masters Vrook Lamar, Kavar and Zez-Kai Ell. It was unknown whether it was a result of the Exile finding hidden wisdom in the revelations they approached him with, or a side effect of the Masters' attempt to cut him off from the Force. When activated, this power combined three defensive and agility-improving Force powers, pushing them to the highest degree that the Jedi previously mastered during his routine training. The affected powers are Force Speed, Force Defend (Force Armor or Force Shield) and Force Valor. The end result would be an "enlightened" Jedi, having unlocked and harnessed fully the Light Side of the Force. Following the Dark Side, the Jedi Exile would learn Force Crush instead of Force Enlightenment.

Revitalize:Revitalize was a light side Force technique. It brought the vitality of the closest non-droid companion of the caster to its peak, though the recipient would have a drop in energy after being revitalized. More advanced versions allowed the caster to further boost a companion's vitality or affect more than one individual at a time

Animal Friendship:Animal Friendship is the Force ability to calm an animal. Jacen Solo used this ability to have a krayt dragon help him. Anakin Skywalker used this power to calm a reek in the Geonosian Execution Arena. The Twi'lek Jedi Tott Doneeta also used 'Animal Friendship' to befriend a vicious Boma in his quest to find Princess Galia on the planet Onderon. He rode the Boma into the Beast Riders' base before he, Ulic Qel-Droma and his brother Cay Qel-Droma learned the truth about Queen Amanoa.

Battle Precognition:Battle Precognition was a Light side Force power which allowed one to sense the flows of the Force and anticipate an opponents moves, increasing reaction time in combat.

dark side

Dark side powers were used to harm, debilitate, or kill. Some (like Rage or Drain) were used to benefit the user personally, akin to powers of the light side, with the difference that these were used at the expense of his or her own health or an other individual's Force reserve. It was believed that the powers themselves were not inherently evil, but rather reflected the alignment of the force-user (Jedi/Sith). These powers were often labeled as "evil" due to their common usage or because of the people who used them. Some of these powers could be used for good, just as some powers traditionally considered light can be used for malevolent purposes. Force powers became evil only when used for personal gain, or to impede another; however, continuous use of dark powers was shown to have a corrupting effect on the Force-user, regardless of intent, due to the body being unable to handle such power for long periods of time.

Force Grip:Force Grip was a technique by which a user of the Force used telekinesis to forcefully crush parts of a target victim's body, killing them or rendering them unconscious. It is a less devastating form of the more sophisticated and complex Force Crush. Rather than simply "shoving" the target, (or using Force Push), this was a sustained application of telekinesis, focused more specifically and usually with greater effect. It was not exclusively a dark side ability, although most applications of it were violent, and it was especially favored by members of the Sith Order. A crushing application of the Force, the Force grip could be used to strangle a target's internal organs. The target could be seized with great strength and subsequently lifted off their feet and suspended in air, by a powerful user. It was possible to simply break the victim's neck, or to strangle them

Chokeholding:Chokeholding was an early level of the infamous Force Grip ability. Like Grip, it was used to 'grip' the target's internal organs and practice some pressure. However no lifting or telekinetic manipulation is used. The area affected must be only the target's neck. It caused just immobilization and choking, which in later levels can lead to death. The reason why Sith masters usually used it instead of Grip, is when they need to just punish, threat or scare their target, without wanting to cause death.

Force Crush:Force Crush was possibly the darkest Force ability known to both the Jedi and the Sith. It was a more devastating form of the Force Grip ability. This deadly ability lifted the opponent into the air, and as he was floating, his body literally imploded as it was crushed from within by the Force.

Force Lightning:Force lightning was a well known dark side Force abilityIt was a purely energy-based attack used most commonly by, but not restricted to, the Sith. Force energy took the form of lightning bolts which exit the Force-user's body through his fingertips or palms; Force lightning could be executed with either one or two hands. The greater the user's aptitude, the more power the lightning bolts possessed and the more they forked, allowing the possibility of striking multiple foes at once. This Force power was often used as a form of torture as it not only caused severe physical damage but also extreme agony to the victim's emotional and spiritual capacities. However, a single powerful blast may have been sufficient to kill a person instantly. It is unclear why Palpatine kept electrocuting Luke Skywalker for so long, but it is likely that Palpatine, harboring extreme antipathy toward the Jedi, sought to maximize the intensity and duration of Luke's suffering in order to satisfy himself with the tormenting of the last of their kind.

Disable Droid:Droid Disable was a Force power developed during the Old Sith Wars. Droid Disable allowed a Jedi to cause a droid to short-circuit. Master Arca Jeth discovered the technique during the Great Droid Revolution, which allowed the Jedi to deactivate the droid army of HK-01. Since it saw no use against the Droid Army during the Clone Wars, it must be assumed Droid Disable was lost or forgotten at some point

Chain Lightning:Chain Lightning was a variation of the Force Lightning ability, with the difference being that the lightning was able to strike one person and then move to another or several others.

Force Spark:Force Spark was a Dark Side Force power that allowed the user to create an energy spark that would track and damage the nearest enemy. The spark could be thrown at an opponent to stun and shock them, or could be set loose to track an opponent until it dispates. The spark would not last more than five seconds or so before disappearing into a tiny burst of heat, but it was a useful technique for Sith apprentices. Later on in an apprentice's training, this power was usually replaced by Force Lightning.

Vader's Wrath:Vader's Wrath is a dark side ability created and used by Darth Vader. When he has enough fury, he stabs his lightsaber into the ground, resulting in an electrifying groundquake. It will seriously damage or even kill nearby enemies. Vader created this attack because his mechanical body could not allow him to use Force Lightning.

Force Throw:Force Throw was a Dark Side telekinetic ability, perhaps related to Force Push. It causes objects to be hurled towards a target at an astounding velocity. A skilled Force user could throw multiple large objects simultaneously at great speed, as evidenced by Darth Sidious during his duel with Yoda in the Senate chamber. Darth Vader learned the power soon after becoming an apprentice of Darth Sidious and first used it in combat to defeat Jedi Master Roan Shryne. He later used it to overwhelm and subdue his own son, Luke Skywalker, during their battle in the Cloud City on Bespin.

Force Rage:Force Rage was a dark side Force ability. The Force user would tap into their innermost fears and hate, converting it into intense anger. The user would then channel the anger to increase their own speed, strength, and ferocity. However, the body couldn't handle such rage for long periods of time, so the user became greatly weakened for a while after the rage subsided.

Force Drain :Force Drain was the dark side equivalent of Force Healing, the difference being that the user drained the target's Force reserves to fuel the regenerative process, or to replenish their own strength in the Force. Greater aptitude allowed exceptional drainage speed and the ability to drain multiple people at once.

Force Affliction :Force Affliction was a Force power generally associated with the Dark Side. Affliction worked much like a fast-acting poison, quickly debilitating the target. The affects of affliction worsened over time.

Force Plague:Force Plague was a vile Force power often associated with the Dark Side. Plague worked like a fast-acting toxin, horribly debilitating its victims. The effects of Plague continue to worsen over time. It is, in essence, a more powerful version of Force Affliction.

Force Fear :Force Fear was a Dark Side Force Power and possibly a Dark Side variant on the Jedi Mind Trick, used around 4000 BBY by Sith and Jedi with Dark Side tendencies. It caused a single enemy to experience intense fear, making them cower for a short time. It was the milder version of three fear-inspiring Force powers, the other ones being Force Horror and Force Insanity.

Force Horror :Force Horror was a dark side ability and possibly a dark variant on the Jedi Mind Trick, used by Sith and Jedi with dark tendencies around 4000 BBY. This power enabled the Force user cause multiple enemies to enter into a katatonic state of panic. Force Horror was a more advanced version of Force Fear, which had to be mastered before the Force user could move on to Force Horror. A more powerful version of Force Horror was Force Insanity.

Force Insanity:Force Insanity was a Dark Side Force Power used by Sith and Jedi with Dark Side tendencies around 4000 BBY. It enabled the Force user to cause multiple enemies in a ten-meter radius to become insane with fear and paranoia for a short time. This was a more advanced version of Force Fear and Force Horror and possible a dark variant on the Jedi Mind Trick.

Force Destruction:Force Destruction was a dark side ability of certain gifted Sith warriors, allowing them to create a massive energy field and throw it in any direction. Using Force Destruction was a very exhausting power and could only be used twice in without requiring the user to rest. As it was such an advanced skill, it was generally only taught to more experienced Force-users such as Jedi Masters

Destruction Orb:Destruction Orb was a dark side Force ability that only advanced users of the dark side could master. When used, a massive amount of energy was stored up within the user, activating the technique. With incredible concentration, the energy could be discharged using the use's own body as a conduit. It was usually fired through the arm or hand, but smaller assaults could be directed from a fingertip. Destruction Orb did not always kill the victim, but it inflicted searing burns and caused physical damage. A lack of concentration or a weak body could cause Destruction Orb to become harmful to the user as well as the target. A poorly controlled Orb could badly burn the one using it upon discharge

Deadly Sight:Deadly Sight was a power of the dark side, capable of making Sith Masters and powerful Dark Jedi inflict damage upon their enemies merely with their sight. With this power, the user could also damage entire groups within their field of vision.

Force Storm:Force Storm was a dark side Force power, and possibly the most powerful Force ability known. Force Storm was actually not a storm; in fact, it was the ability to create hyperspace wormholes via the dark side of the Force. A Force Storm could range from the size of a small starship, like a freighter, to huge maws capable of obliterating whole starfleets. The smaller storms appeared more easily controlled from a greater distance. No Force users other than Darth Sidious have exhibited this ability.

Force Field:Force Field was a Force power that generated a large energy field around the user, damaging and knocking out nearby foes. It was partially the dark side equivalent of Protection Bubble, a light side ability, with the difference being that it did not protect the user.

Mind Control:Also known as Dominate Mind, this is the dark side equivilent of Jedi Mind Trick, only at a much higher degree. It takes complete contol of the minds of the victim or victims. Higher levels of mastery allow more people to be controled. Palpatine might have used this ability to control The Senate.

Thought bomb:A thought bomb was a powerful and destructive application of the Dark Side of the Force by targeting the brain or nucleus (with one-celled organisms and such). The only known thought bomb was activated by Lord Kaan (whom LaTor helped to develop the weapon) in the catastrophic Seventh Battle of Ruusan, killing all Force-sensitives on the planet. A thought bomb destroyed all biological organisms that were force sensitive within a certain radius—not even force-sensitive single-celled organisms survive. It used the energy of the gathered Force to create a massive charged explosion.

Force Scream:Force Scream was an involuntary reflex of a Dark Jedi as a result of frustration from battling an opponent. If a Dark Jedi was being beaten and frustrated by his foe, he might let out an enraged scream, amplified through the Force, that triggered shock waves that rippled through the Force, devastating both the Dark Jedi and those who were unfortunate enough to be in close proximity. The Force Scream had been called “a wave of hatred, amplified and fueled by the dark side, that is capable of smashing through mental and physical defenses with ease.” A number of references to Dark Jedi in Old Republic archives often mentioned the Dark Jedi losing violently control in the final moments of battle.

Spear of midnight black:The spear of midnight black was an ancient dark side Force power. It enabled the Force-user to summon the Force and forge an invisible, deadly spear from dark side energies which could be hurled at opponents, killing or injuring them as if it was a real physical spear

Electromagnetic torpedo:The electromagnetic torpedo was a container for Rokur Gepta's most powerful Force technique, which was one of the strongest powers of the dark side. It was the greatest achievement of any of the Sorcerers of Tund.

The luminescent pale green substance contained in the torpedo was lethal to all other known forms of life. One cubic millimeter of it could destroy not only all life on a planet but all of the "organic substrate" from which any future life could come. It could thrive even in vacuum.

Sith Magic :Sith magic was a Force ability that could transform living beings into monsters. Exar Kun used this ability to create at Yavin 4 temples during the Great Sith War.

Torture by chagrin:Torture by chagrin was a dark side Force ability developed by Rokur Gepta. It consisted of Gepta gesturing with his hand and mentally reaching into the victim's mind, forcing them to relive all the worst memories of their life, both painful ones and ones that were merely embarrassing, over and over and over again to the point where it almost seemed to cause physical pain. Interestingly, Gepta found that after a brief session of torture by chagrin, the subjects demonstrated a slight increase in intelligence and efficiency after they recovered. For this reason he used it regularly on the crew of his personal command ship, the Wennis. When Gepta captured Lando Calrissian, he planned to use torture by chagrin to kill him. Half an hour of it and Lando was in pain like he'd never known before; Gepta believed he could make Lando last for several weeks before the gambler's mind finally snapped and he died. To make the process more personal, the Sorcerer of Tund had created a machine which would amplify his power and allow him to pick and choose which memories Lando would relive. The machine would also let Gepta alter the memories to be even worse than they were already. Fortunately for Lando, a squadron of Renatasians attacked, distracting Gepta long enough for the gambler to execute a plan to escape.

and ther you have it.

Very informative, in regards to the first statement. There is no light or dark side of the force, technically meaning; That a Sith, described as one of the most evil individuals in the galaxy, could still be a Sith but use all light side powers, and vice versa. This could mean different things, those characters who choose to, could technically use "darkside powers" and still be with the lightside Jedi. Which cold strengthen the plot of the over all story...And it could be backed up with the theory of the pressing times and the boldness in which characters choose to use the force. Another possibility which I had mentioned earlier and I think the challenge is being taken up by Corax. The Anti hero, the all out guns a blazing, get the job done, stay out of my way type. A good example of this would be like Blade from his own comic book series. Or one of the main "heroes" of the movie Sin City. Food for thought...

Well, I remember a long time ago that those who use Light and Dark side powers are usually called Shadow Jedi, but were all wiped out, leaving only the Sith and good Jedi

Jolie Bindo, Mace Windu, Luke Skywalker. All of these are examples of Jedi who fight for good who will use Light or Dark powers interchangably. Luke in the Hall of Jabba's Palace force chokes a pigface. Jolie Bindo, well if you've played KOTOR you know what I'm saying. Mace Windu, his fighting style, Vaapad, uses both the light and dark side in tantem. Theres by two cents.
