OK I just started doing these and I kind of like them but I have some questions about depth and technique. How tall a box should I use? Or is different height good? Do you just touch the box with your ass or sit down completely and than power up? I have been sitting and pausing on a 17" Bench. Any info would be great thanks. |

I use a 12" box, that's a few inches below parallel. I pause on the box, release my hip flexors, then flex off by pushing my hips forward. It's done wonders for my deadlift off the ground. |

Thanks man. You know I was doing DL's the other day and I noticed if I really focused on starting with my ass really low I had a little easier pull from the floor. Not all lower back I guess. So you do not vary the box height? |

Use a box that will put you at least an inch below parallel with your squat stance. Yes, I would use different height boxes to work the different areas of your squat. You could cycle them in just like different height board presses. You can also work up to a max single on the different height boxes as part of your training. McLifter
