Does anyone else get tight pains around the outer quad/IT bands? I've been stretching regularly which helps a bit, and I can train through the pain, but think that it is limiting my progess. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Standard disclaimer: Have you been to a doctor, PT, sports medicine person? Now that's out of the way, have you tried one of these: Thick foam roller I use it mostly on my back, but have used it on my IT band. |

I agree that you should consult with a medical professional first. That being said, I too have experienced this type of pain and it was mainly due to box squatting (in my own assessment of what was going on). Try changing up your stance to see if that helps. Try taking a break or backing off on the squat poundages. You can do front squats, Zercher squats, drag weights etc. to work the legs. Keep up with the stretching and maybe get a good massage once a week for a couple of weeks to break up the tissues and improve the circulation. Keep a log of your progress with the treatment and the pain management and you will be OK. In other words throw out that which doesn't work for you. McLifter |
