1. How big are you? 2. How big is the log (diameter and weight)? |

What Dale said. Other than that, increase your leg strength and learn how to really drive that log up. Possible things to try: Front Squats NG or CG 3-board Presses CG Benches Incline Bench DB Militaries Push-jerks Push Presses LOG |

Where do you get stuck? I found that working my log clean and going 40 or so pounds heavier then my log max helped me alot. THe clean used to be hard and sap all my energy..now its not as bad. Once i got that taken care off...close grip board presses really helped my overhead (any my bench..as if i care). |

Here we go The log is about 8" roughly & weighs about 45lb I had about 27.5kg on each end. I weigh roughly 14st 7lb This was my first go & didn`t find getting the log up to my chest that tricky it was just the press from shoulder to above head i couldn`t get. ![]() Thanks for all the help

Understandibly, this was your first time pressing a log. You'll make progress quickly. Just remember to keep elbows up and keep the log as high on the chest as possible. |

It takes some getting used to, but the first thing I would do is learn efficient cleaning technique. The more energy you expend trying to clean the log, the less you have in the tank to press with. Of course, I don't know if this is the case, never having seen you lift, but it's what I experienced when I started pressing the log. And yeah, it takes a little getting used to. I recently switched from an 8" log to a 12" log and it's a different beast entirely. |
