When starting a press, should my elbows be pointed to the front (similar to a front squat) or pointed more or less down?

keep the elbows down. try this for a bit of added fun in pressing: set up for the press with everything nice and tight. push the weight up slightly off of your shoulders, say a couple of inches. this builds lots of tension. lower the weight staying tight, pause and drive the weight up. this is a great way to use a bit of the stretch reflex to accent your presses, and teaches you how to stay very tight and explode through the lift. |

Thanks, Doug. I'll have to give that a try. |
