I know there is no such thing as too much back work, but if I'm chinning and doing high pulls twice a week, do I need to be doing bent rows, or would that time be better spent doing rear delt/mid back work, like face pulls?

Bent Rows in good form once a week should complement your Chins well. Throw in some Kelso Surgs and you're set to go.

I never got much out of Face Pulls etc. Not enough weight for me.

How are Kelso Surgs different from regular Surgs?

Do you still do Surgs if you're doing high pulls?

If you're doing high pulls, Surgs aren't necessary (provided you're doing the pulls properly). And I think if you're chinning and doing some deadlift work, I don't even know that rows are necessary, although all the biggest deadlifters swear by them, so what the hell do I know? :)

Kelso's are done by shrugging your shoulders back and slightly down, against resistance. Straight Surgs just shrug up. Kelso's, Chins and Rows seem to push each other on for me.

Not sure how this relates with High Pulls, I haven't done them in years. I'd take Frozenkilt's advice there.

I'm doing snatch pulls and will be making a height gauge today, so I'm not too worried about my tarps being neglected. I'll just stick with pulls and chins, with the occasional sets of bent rows for good measure, but I'll spend more energy pushing the chins.

Im not the greatest at bent roes but i havent done them any sort of routine since my last contest ( June) Ive have though added chins and nore face pull and rear delt work. I did rows yesterday and they felt a lot easier. Also lapping stones have become easier also.
