It looks to me like you may have gotten the shaft on that doctor's decision Gemma, you may have been doing too well... <_< But I may just be acting paranoid. Please excuse me if I am. |

I've read Gemmas report today. I think it's unfair. It's true, that weight in deadlift was moving, but it was Aneta, who was lifting it as last and she was lifting the biggest weight and she succed to pull it one time (about 260-270 kg). Gemma have forgotten to write, that the reason why the doctor forbidden her to compete after deadlift, was her very, very high blood pressure, which haven't got any connection with deadlift's equipment. All competitors had got the same chances. All of them were satisfied, except Gemma. It's probably, that the events after the deadlift were Gemma's favourites, but she had never win with Aneta in any of them. Moreover - in deadlift she was loosing with Aneta, Anna Rosen and Anki Oberg on all competitions before. The fact, that Gemma won deadlift hold with 1,6 seconds doesn't mean she had chances to win the contest. In deadlift Aneta was doing 10 reps with 200 kg even two years ago. In my opinion, it doesn't matter that competition aren't organised by any federation. The best competitors taking part matters. IFSA haven't done any strongwoman event in last year, when in Poland a few were done (IFSA is nobody when it's about organising strongwoman competitions, Douglas told me last time, that he isn't interested in strongwoman). Aneta, since World's Strongest Woman 2003 in Zambia, haven't loose any strongwoman competition and it haven't been important for her, what were the events, in what country the contests have been organised, who have competed and what have been organisers' faults. Aneta, 3 weeks before the Championship, had twisted her ankle badly. She hadn't walk for a few days and she hadn't done any training to the Championship (it's a pity that Gemma haven't written about this). On the contest she was feeling pain all the time and it was reason why her results in farmer's and shield were worse. Aneta's personal best record on that equipment is 120 meters in farmer's and 120 in shield. |
