i have wasted ALOT of money and have gotten no benefits whatsoever with them for the injury of pulled lower back muscle. I have given it almost 2 months of rest and still in pain. Electro Stim does very little.. My pain is like back spams and electrical "shocks" that alternate on both sides of my lower back. One day my left will be bad, the next day the right, all this with no lifting or anything strenous. Right now, I am wondering if either ART or deep tissue massage will help me. I AM TIRED OF BEING IN PAIN AND BEING RIPPED OFF!! Can anyone anyone help me with this? Frustrated, Daryl |

Daryl, I decided to take this here instead of the P&B. The referred pain (electric shocks) you're getting tells me that it really is most likely disc related rather than muscular. Not that I'm any kind of doctor, but that definitely sounds nerve related to me. I'd stay away from chiros with this, keep up the pressups, ab work and some general stretching of the hamstrings and trunk (in a pain-free range of motion) and GO SEE A SPORTS DOC. Hell, go get an MRI if you can. If you've got a bulged or ruptured disc, you need to start proper rehab ASAP. Keep us up to date on anything you've found. - Sean |

I'll give that sports doctor a try. There is one near me (actually near work) that looks sort of good. I'm done giving my money to bad chiros. Hopefully whatever is wrong with me can finally be fixed.. I'll give it a shot... Daryl |

I agree

Massage is almost always a better bet than chiro in my books. ART is usually practiced by chiros, and it is pretty good for a lot of things, but I am betting lower back is not one of them. Massage will help relax the muscles around the disc (if that's what it is) as they are in protection mode for your spine, that's what the spasming/tightness is (I go through the same thing with my neck- yay, fun!) Find out what the problem is first, then you can come up with a good plan for treating it. Good luck D. |

sounds like a joint segment disfunction, do a search on multifidus ,those are the first muscles to pack it in when you have a lumbar disorder, those are the ones you have to rehab first |
