Actually, that's not entirely true. Using my best total, I would have lost gold in the 2000 Olympics in the 63kg women's class on bodyweight. - Sean |

I'm curious what was the reaction to England's win against T&T in the UK? Over here, bunch of idiot analysts are considering it a really bad game for England. In my opinion, any other time there would've been 4 or 5 goals from the chances they missed. It seemed like one of those days where nothing goes in. |

Most pundits and fans are sort of torn.. We have won 2 out of 2, qualified for the knock-put stage, and not conceeded a goal yet - which is really good. Plus Rooney is back, and will get better with each game we play. But on the form shown in the first two games we are not good enough to win the tournament. Gerrard and Lampard are both great players, but playing the two of them in midfield together is not working as they both want to go forward at the same time and that will leave us exposed against decent opposition. We really need to change the formation against better teams to include a holding player in midfield like Carrick. That will allow both Lampard and Gerrard to go forward without leaving the back door open to a counter. |

The problem with England and football is that everyone is always seeking a headline. Sensationalist journalism all the way. Did England play brilliantly? Certainly not. Do they need to improve? Of course. BUT, as Colin says, we've now qualified for the next stages and not conceded a goal, whilst playing at ~30% of our best. I'll take that. I also thought T&T played pretty damn well. Very organised and solid in defence. These games are never easy to win. The look on Gerrards face after his goal said a lot to me, he looked like the shackles had been removed. I do agree with Colin though, Carrick would allow Lampard and Gerrard to make runs beyond the strikers, allowing the strikers more time and space. Lennon certainly made a big difference too. If I was in charge id seriously consider Beckham at right back and Lennon on the right of midfield. He's played there for Madrid and we encourage our fullbacks to make forward runs anyway. |

Peter, the reaction to the game where i was was lots of noise, shouting and general rowdy behaviour. That's how it is over here! I only got to watch the second half of the game, and was honestly disappointed in engalnd's quality of play up until the lasy 8minutes ;) Being fair though, neither T&T or Paraguay are particularly good teams IMO and is would have expected the scores to have been a lot better really. |

My thoughts exactly. Argentina did play great today, but you won't see that happen again against another opponent. One thing about all teams from former Yugoslavia is that if they start falling apart there's no stopping. Same exact team is fully capable of upsetting anyone, yet if things go wrong early they are capable of self combusting. |

Nice to see both Ghana and the US getting pretty solid results today. I'm glad at least one African team has managed a win, I thought Ivory Coast were unlucky against both Argentina and Holland. Argentina certainly played well, but it annoys me that so called experts make such sensational statements as i've seen so far. Yes, they played well, but as Peter says, they wont be allowed to play that well against some of the more solid defences/midfields. You can only play as well as you're allowed to. |

Surprise, surprise. Who would've thought that group E would still be wide open with a game each to go. That means that Czech Republic vs. Italy will be for real instead of both sides going for a draw. |

One poor performance from Italy, or even just a good performance from the Czechs and Italy are going home. I think if Italy play like they did yesterday we could well see Ghana and Czech R going through. |

I think a lot of people forget that pre their 3-4 year golden spell the French were awful. They failed to qualify for a number of bigger tournaments (including World Cups) and they had a major habit of underperforming. They turned that around with the help of 4-5 great players and 4-5 good players. Now, Viera is a shadow of his former self, Zidane isnt at the pace of the game and others just arent there anymore. You can't rely on Henry to do everything, it works at Arsenal becuase he has midfielders (Ljunberg, Pires, Van Persie etc) making runs past him, taking defenders away and giving him an outlet. Putting crosses into a box that has only Henry in it isnt going to cut it. |

Well, Argentina played more or less Holland B today and no more 6:0. I hope all big mouths shut up about Argentina now. |
