Hi Hanne, Don't book the hotel yet - I'm going to try and get a special deal. I'll let you know what they say. I'm thinking about the transport situation, If Anne flies to the same airport as the Swedish contingent - then it might be worth them all getting a Minibus? Big Al Christie was going to mention the contest to Bernie and Beckie. Waiting to hear the outcome.

Bumped! I've slightly altered the women's log event, going to run it the same way as the Heavyweight's log at White Cliffs. Athletes can choose to lift either 60kg or 75kg for reps. 1 rep with 75kg will beat any number with 60kg though. |

Looking forward to it Colin. Any news on the competitors? Bole strong Team would like to know if there are any other competitions over here they can compete in (open heavy/105kg). Any chance you know Colin, and please post on their board if you do. Thanks Hanne PS. We are not going to make it to Poland for the weekend, what a shame. I am looking forward to hearing all about it from you. Have a great time and stay away from gangster's in night clubs ha ha!!!! |

As far as I know Hanne there is not much else happening now this year - you know what its like - once you get into september things wind down a bit. I'm probably not going to Poland for WSW either now. Had a look for flights and they were £££££££££. About 6 times the price of last year's trip! I think I'll most likely save my money and put it towards going to the Arnold next spring. |

Really wished it was closer, would have loved to try in the Deadlift. I think my best is approx 11 plates aside from 18" approx. |

460kg 18" deadlift . Fucking hell Shawn thats unreal, If you can't make it then I'll meet you at the whey consortium at some date after the comp and you can try a lift on the equipment being used at the comp. Failing that could you not bum a lift from anyone. |

I'm in the gym tomorrow, I'll measure up the height. That weight was done with straps while i was 18 in the Power house in Liverpool. May try a go at it tomorrow? l if i get a decent weight i try and film it. Last time i tried partial dead lifts was around 5-6 weeks ago and got up to 9 or 10 plates without straps. (or belt i think) |

Shawn I don't know if your aware of this but the winning lift in this comp will be considered to be the the official record. Now with the figures your talking you could be a serious contender. |

if that's a good weight then, at the worst it should only take me around 9 weeks to get my lift back up to what it was. See what happens tomorrow. Thanks Tom for the offer to try the lift down Gloster, after the show. Should do well as I'll have time to get back into that specific lift.

Cut the story short. I was asleep at 2 and up at 6 due to the new puppy. Haven't eaten much and feeling like shit. 18" Dead lift worked up to 8 1/2 plates aside 2 reps Then left knee feeling funny, even walking on it. Back didn't feel right either. It's 1 1/2 inch lower i normally do them, but felt alright apart from the above. I'll work on over the next few weeks and let you know. I do feel like i could have pulled 10 plates without too much of a problem |

And doing it out of the rack is harder than doing it on boxes - so you should be able to lift more on the equipment! |

I was thinking that. I was doing them in a half power rack. See what the result is for this lift and try myslef next time round. At least i'll have time to traing for it.

Updating the first post in a moment as there have been a couple of changes to the women's contest.. Firstly - I noticed on saturday that the extension pieces for my fishing pole are missing! I think some of the kids who use the farm during the week have nicked them! So there is no longer a fishing pole event. This will be replaced with a sandbag carry and drag, the same event we used at this contest in 2004. Secondly - As the fishing pole was going to be a maximum lift, and it is no longer in the contest, I have decided to make the log for max, so there is still a max lift in the contest. One other change - I am adding a "Rolling Thunder" contest on the day, open to all comers. £5 to take part, all proceeds to charity. |
