Why is it a problem that Felix competes in the UK but represent Grenada. I really don't think Grenada has a national contest.

Much like Geoff Dolan representing Canada while living in the USA.

I think what most people have the problem not with him competing at britains strongest man but he does it then goes and competes for grenada. If he is british then he should compete for britain but if he's grenadan he shouldn't compete at bsm.

But does he represent Grenada at WSM while qualifying through Britain's ? I heard he doesn't have a british passport but lives in Britain, so he wouldn't be able to represent Britain even if he wanted to.

IN WSM 2004 they only allowed one athlete from each country, so as a way of getting two Brits in they had Ade representing England and Felix representing England. This isnt a fact just what I think happened. And like how Terry said it makes WSM more of an international competition by having him represent Grenada.

I guess it sneaks in another indirect brit, like Odd who can sneak in as Norway or USA which would be another, and let's emphasize another, indirect american

TEXAS STONEMAN
I shot J.R
I can't believe everyone has left Josh Thigpen out. I don't think anyone in group 5 can beat him honestly. I hope my fellow Texan and training partner tears them all to pieces!!!!

Hey Travis,

Saw you at a competition in Cyprus burning up the field on Tv at the weekend. Man you got some serious fast twitch going on there. I've never seen anyone so quick and dominant with stones! Have you always been fast or is it a mindset or just the training...either way...it's remarkable...

I'm still putting my money on Magnus and one of the Polish competitors.

Group 1: Jessin Paulin (Canada) & Mariusz Pudzianowski (Poland)
Group 2: Terry Hollands (UK) & Jesse Marunde (USA)
Group 3: Phil Pfister (USA) & Janne Virtanen (Finland)
Group 4: Jarek Dymek (Poland) & Dominic Filiou (Canada),
Group 5: Magnus Samuelsson (Sweden) & Sebastian Wenta (Poland).

I think Wenta will get through, but it depends how Samuelsson turns up. If he's in good shape I believe he'll progress, if he turns up to this contest like his past few then Thigpen for sure. It'll be interesting anyway.

After 25 years, I think the title will return to the states

1st Pfister
2nd Mariusz
3rd Samuelsson (if fit)
4th Hollands
5th Wenta

Just believe that Pfister will have too much for mariusz this year. Plus if Mariusz is 380 then he's far to heavy to be mobile enough for this contest (famous last words). I believe that Jesse has put on too much weight as well. Mass doesn't equal strength, Ahola won it at only 19st

Ahola was also much shorter than Marunde. Jesse M. seriously needed some mass as he looked skinny and lanky next to Mariusz. Size may not directly be related to strength as some can lift more being smaller than others, but everyone can benefit from extra muscle mass.

1. Pudzianowski
2. Pfister
3. Samuelson
4. Nigmatulin
5. Marunde

And who said Mariusz is 380 ?

What do you think about Janne Virtanen's chances in this competition. I have heard that he is in best shape ever in most of events. I think that he will place near top or win this contest.

For some reason I think of Samuelsson & Virtanen as being from a previous era. They were giants of the sport 5 years ago, but there is a new breed of strongmen that have come along and surpassed them in recent years. I'd love to see them do well, but I think their time has passed.

There is a lot of tough competitors. When i watched last years contest i first time really notised Dominic Filiou. I had seen him compete before that, but i didn't notise his potential before that. And in last year he did at least one mistake. Ding carry. I am looking forward to see how hi performs this year.

I do agree, but never count them out. Janne & Magnus are still good if fit and have banker events. Plus everyone seems to either come into these events saying I'm in my best shape ever or I haven't had enough time to prepare and seem to do the opposite of the hype.

True more mass doesn't = more strength. But, like Manfred Hoeberl, it can lead to other problems. So I'd say most people can benefit from more muscle mass, whether alittle or alot. But it can have its down sides. I do feel that Jesse needs more mass and to try and increase his "brute" strength.

It also depends greatly on events and conditions. It's going to be good, and I hope Pfister beats mariusz. It seems that everybody has Samuelsson in 3rd. I think it's gonna be a tussel between the top four there with Mariusz & Pfister breaking away at the end.

My top five are
1. Pfister
2. Marius
3. Wenta
4. Marunde
5. Samuelsson if fit. If not Filiou.

But for the first time in a few years I'm looking forward to WSM.

On Ironmind, they said Mariusz pressed the 135kg stone like nothing. Also said Magnus and Janne look great. This should be really good-would have been great to see HUGO in there.Probably next year.

News from Sanya
Heat 2, Terry won the carry and drag, Jesse second and in Mariusz heat Mariuz took the win in his heat in the carry and drag with the slimmest of margins from the Iranian guy (a stumble cost him the win in the event).

Magnus is out with a back injury

Mariusz is weighting 140kg

His back has always been a bit iffy, if I remember correctly. Pity it had to flair up right then, though. Would have been nice to see him make an honest play for the final.
