I've had a few text messages from me old pal Russ Kirby who went to UK's as a tester and reserve but is now competing.
I'll post what Russ has told me.

Russ is in Glens group. He text me today to say that he's got through to day 2 is currently in joint 5th and was pleased to win the first event yesterday which was the Bus push.
Glen Ross and Simon Flint are clear leaders in his group and Terry is leading in the other group followed by Jimmy and Dale.
I'll post more when i hear more.

More news from Mr Kirby.

He missed out going on to the Final by coming joint 4th but lost on countback to Mark Lawson who last year placed 2nd overall.Dave Meer was half a point ahead in 3rd ,Simon Flint 2nd & Glen Ross 1st.
As for group A Terry Hollands,Dale Norris,Simon Morton & Jimmy all through.

Out of both groups Terry is looking firm favourite as he cruised through his heat.Fingers crossed for him and Dale.

Thanks Andy, Russ was unlucky. Still Terry and Dale seem to be playing a blinder.

Russ should be proud of himself he was injured only a few weeks ago,has missed quite a few training sessions this year and is still only training events once a month.
The log started at 125kg and as Russ went to press it his injury flared up and he got shooting pains down both arms,he then proceeded to strict press it back up.Due to the pains he decided to leave it there even though he's normally good for 140kg.

Good on Terry and Dale there both a couple of blinding geezers and great strength athletes.
I for got to mention the log press, Dale lifted more in his heat than Glen in his.
