I have to say a very well done to Terry and Dale - it was a tough 3 days of competition. Personally I was pleased overall with my performance in this competition, but disappointed not to have made the final having come so close - loosing out on countback having finished joint 4th and only 0.5 point behind 3rd place in my heat. It was a fine tussle from the word go between myself, Dave Meer and Mark Lawson - I think I made them fight for thier places in the final and there was never more than about 2 points between us during the entire 2 days of qualifiying -the banter was great fun (and between all the lads for that matter). I think I surprised a few people. I think almost everyone failed to score in at least one event - mine was the Tyre flip on Day 1 - low, heavy and akward buggers! But I did manage to press the log where othere failed, squat 3 reps when others failed to do one, get half way down the farmers walk course when others could not lift the frame, and I won an event - the bus push I cant help thinking in hindsight that if only i'd done this, or one more of that .. then maybe I could have got that extra 0.5 point, but c'est la vie - I'll just have to come back stronger for next year. Finally big respect to Dale for going all out and trying to put up a World (I think?) wooden log record, and for pulling a massive deadlift which did not quite come off. Next year Dale! And had the competition been over the enitre 3 days (and points not reset for the final day) then I believe Terry would have won. Cheers Russ. |

The comp was sooo much fun to watch!!! Terry sooo should have won!! (or Dale ;)) During the tug of war me and Carly (Terry's other half) had the majority of the crowd chanting for Terry!! hehehe! Glenn was NOT impressed! Everyone was gutted that Dale slipped on the deadlift....apart from one person....who we need not mention! <_< Russ' bus push was very very good!!!I can definatly see him there next year....if i'm aloud to go after my slight tiff with Glenn whilst drunk! Unfortunatly i have very few pictures because i was mostly drunk for the entire 3 days.... I do have his squat though...and a picture of Glenn looking less than attractive in his singlet thingy!! *cringe*SeraBec Dale's Squat ![]() Glenn's ass!!!!!!!

Hope you get it sorted mate, really unfortunate that the scoring has been fucked up for you in two comps this year, especially as they were important contests! |

Just been on the phone to Gary taylor and he said that the athlete got 2 point on the appollons for the effort or somthing so simon flint actually had 22 points and I got 20.5 - it doesnt make sense to me but there gos! |

Hahaha! That is fucking nuts! 2 points for no reps!!! At the Southern Qualifier for the UKs I got 9 points I think. There were 5 events. I'd have got more points if I'd stayed at home if that rule was in effect!

I know it was going to be the same rule as the arnolds with the points being awarded for a clean - but they scrapped it and gave everyone 2 points instead! stupidest rule yet! |

Well it's simple really he's a fat b4str4rd who sets the events to minimise movemet, cos he's crap at those sort of events. Sorry but i will not mince my word on the subject, and I'm willing to put my money (or body where my mouth is on the subject). He needs to drop at least 40kg to be even semi competitive in many events. There is no way he would have placed even in the top 3 had the events involved a degree of movement. |

WTF ? So, if I understand this correctly, looking at the breakdown of the points, they must have split the points on the appollons for 6th, 7th, 8th place i.e. Mark, Simon F, & Simon M (those who did not complete the lift) as though they had tied joint 6th? i.e 3+2+1 (=6 points) divide by 3 = 2 points each? They then must have added the 2 points in at the end so Dale lost out on 4th place, and then Dave Meer tied with Mark Lawson (on 18 points each) and Mark wins 6th place overall on count back (again). Aside from Dale I would be a tad miffed if I were Dave Meer on that basis. IMO if you fail the lift you get 0 points. |

Mate it did not occur to me at the time either - I just took it as read, but I do remember thinking at the time 'how did Mark beat Dave?', and I do recall some vague discussions on count back - but as I was not involved i did not pay too much attention. Oh well its done now - time to get even next year. |
