Thats the same pic of Marunde they showed last year at this time. But apparently Marunde is 323lbs. Will be interesting to see if his lifts have improved. |

He can be 380lbs-Mariusz will CRUSH everyone in his path to #4.This WSM will not be close-still there will be doubters -but Mariusz can't do this or that.Whatever,in the last 4 years-he has only lost a handful of shows-absolutely brilliant stuff.I he were American,he would be the greatest strongman to ever live. |

What's even more impressive is that Mariusz does all that with you swinging off his nuts. - Sean |

Now you're boring us
|
as much as i would like someone else 2 win i cant see any of those athletes stopping Mariusz winning for the 4th time. i think it might be a tad closer than last year tho. i think a number of athletes could get 2nd. |

Aside from who will win (barring something bizarre happening, Mariusz), another interesting battle will be for "Top American" in the contest. Jesse is going to have a battle on his hands. |

Hey man, I never once said Mariusz was anything but numero uno. But I can compliment the man without looking like my next step will be to check Ebay for his dirty shorts. Neil lacks this ability. - Sean |

Well Frozen, I am not sure I will believe your story about Neil, till you post the picture!!!! Anyway, you do seem a little jumpy lately, are you ok? Hanne PS I do not think Marunde will even get close to 2nd this year. I think he will have trouble getting even top American title as well. I am sure Phister will have a greater chance than him! (And Sean, I would love to swing from HIS nuts (Phil Phister's). Hanne |

As I get older, my tolerance for stupidity in all it's many forms does lessen, yes. I DO think Marunde will continue to hold top US spot AS IT PERTAINS TO THE WSM CONTEST. I think Phil will make it interesting, but I haven't seen enough performances out of him lately to justify thinking that he'll take Marunde down. I, however, do not commit to Phister or Marunde being top American without being pitted against a few other guys in the US, namely one Travis O. But once again this year, I think Mariusz is going to coast through the qualifier and make it look like other people have a chance and then, barring disaster, will utterly destroy the rest of the field in the final. This is Mariusz' contest. He knows the format and he's well trained for the whole thing. - Sean |

You said basically the same thing I said about Mariusz.Pfister will beat Marunde in the finals.I also think Wenta and Dymek will be in top 5 or 6. |

Sean there was nothing stupid about Neil's post, he's just excited about the results for this one. Now kiss and makeup I agree with Hanne though, I don't see Marunde placing on the podium this year. Pfister has a lot more experience, and he has a lot more brute strength than Marunde. Which is strange to say because Pfister was always originally known to have a weak core. I suppose training with Siders had a little bit to do with that. |

That is the mark of a good competitor Jesse - Someone who is capable of identifing their weaknesses and putting in the work needed to improve on them. Vasyl Virastyuk is another guy who has done the same thing - he's put about 100 pounds on his deadlift in the last couple of years.

Well what is that old saying ? Champions focus on their weakness, while the mediocre focus on their strengths. Shit ... I gotta work on my grip more. |

Or borrowing from Jet Li's new flick: "Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself makes you fearless" - Lao Tzu All the top, top guys have done that. And that's why they get harder to beat every year. - Sean |
