Its competition, and just about anything can happen, including injuries (hope not!) But looking at the remaining field, it can be entertaining to prognosticate the final results. Looking over the competitors and their strengths and weaknesses, and the events in the finals, here is my best shot, looking forward to others opinions and final finish order: 1 Pudzianowski: excellent chance at winning the atlas stones, power stairs, overhead stones, 1st or 2nd in car deadlift; fingals is the one event where he could be in the middle of the pack at best. 2 Pfister: probable 1st in Fingals, probable high placements in most events. 3 Wenta: possible 2nd in Fingals, strong at many events. Deadlift will hold him back. 4 Hollands: much improved, will fight for the podium. 5 Dymek: after his valiant comeback, will probably place 3rd in Deadlift, and be consistenly high in several others. 6 Toczek: gaining in experience, should do well in power stairs and a few others. 7 Felix: possible 1st in deadlift. 8 Vidzis 9 Mitt 10 Pope |

The only thing I would change is Dymek for Hollands. |

My predictions top 2, Phister and Mariusz next 2 Hollands and Wenta Big Terry should win the truck pull event and do v well in the fingers Felix to Win the Deadlift, Phister the fingers, Mariusz to win the Power Stairs. As for the car Walk, Stones over head and the Atlas Stones, anything can happen, which should make these events really interesting. Would have preffered a max over head stone lift to the silly medley style they're using. So now every event, bar the deadlift is against the clock. |

Never forget for a second boys that the WSM contest is a show first and a comp second. They have to keep the events tuned for the 'everyman', not the diehard strongman fans. Still, its pretty solid events and will test the boys nicely. - Sean |

TWI used the phrase 'tele-visual'. It has to look good - not be good. |

Mariusz to win. 4 Poles in the top 6. Terry and Pfister to be the "non-Poles" in the top 6. |

I honestly think Pfister has not been doing enough competitions to challenge Mariusz or Wenta. I would really like to see Mark Felix do well and hit the top five, minimum. |

Mark Felix certainly could place much higher than I predicted. With a very possible 1st in the deadlift, and how he beat Pudz in the Atlas stones in the Poland Super Series (Pudz was far below his best in the Atlas that day) he certainly has some top or near top event finishes in his capacities. IF there were a farmer's walk in the finals, I would've placed him higher. Interesting to note that he placed below all the Poles in that Super Series contest, which included the Farmer's Walk. One thing that looks very probable, this could be the most competitive and close WSM in a long time top to bottom, and no 20 point blowouts! The first day of 3 events is brutal, almost like a weeding out process. I would guess that around 5-6 of the field finishes the Power Stairs, and trying to do so will take a lot out of those who are not so good at it, which also makes it easier to get injured. Was it Hugo who injured himself a bit several years ago in the final in this event? In the Poland Super Series, the 4 Poles got all 15 stairs, Mitt and Vidzis 14, and Felix 12. The Power Stairs could go Pudz, Dymek, Toczek. Conditioning is critical: Deadlift, Power Stairs, Overhead Stones in one day is going to be tough, especially if the heat holds up! |

Ironmind has a new article up today on the finals, mentioning many are seeing Pope as the favorite for the overhead stone lift, and how well the Poles could place overall: http://www.ironmind.com/ironmind/morenews.php?id=1737#1737 |

How many times has he competed in the past two or three years? Honestly, I can't remember. |
