Hell of a day. Good weather, good people & smoothly organised. What people don`t realise is how much hard work Al put in behind the scenes. The Pompey boys turned out in force & took home a fair bit of silverware. Big Loz & Mike B were invaluble with their assistance & help loading & unloading. Mr `FORLIFT 50` Frampton was a real help with everything aswell, nice yolk work mate. Tom was unreal running around like a youngster ,setting this up & sorting that out. Mc Ferret was a star find for the day  The lady doing the scoring was a real star aswell. Hopefully everybody who entered enjoyed theirselves & will comeback if its on again next year. THANKS AL & FREINDS ;) |

To be fair Will saved my arse a couple of times and did a sterling job of judging. Thanks mate. Tom Was a star, running round like a blue arse fly. big loz, mike and the gang must of been as tired as the rest of us with all the work they did. As for me ................. I got beat by a bloody pompey boy again.............. respect to those guys they do train and play hard ...................... and as for Ed getting slapped all the time ............. its like being a copper in cully. Thanks again guys. |

My account of the comp. Well when I first got there you were instantly impressed with the venue, It was a good choice Allan. It was very clear that allan had done a lot of work in putting this together and I'm really pleased that as a result it ran so well. Hell he had even arranged to have sandwiches brought out at the mid way point to feed anyone who needed feeding. That, from what I saw, was mainly Big Loz ! We changed the event order pre start to make the best use of space and allow the comp to run smoothly so the first event became the log / overhead medley. The first few lads in the novices, understandably having never used it before, struggled with the big 80kg ifsa log however, when the pompey lads took their turn they showed everyone how it's done. Some very impressive performances. The last lad to go , I think his name was Chris, was for me one of the most gutsy performers of the day. He must have only weighed 11 / 12 stone MAX but he never gave up on anything. The open overhead medley was a little different but the crowd seem to love it. We had 4 items and you could choose in what order you could do any of the items. The rules were simple, starting behind the line you were timed on the number of objects (of the four) you put overhead. It meant a lot of running around as lads moved between the four. If you failed one object you could try another etc. Good event lots of crowd involvement. We then moved onto the truck Pull. We were concerned about this as the tarmac was still damp and slippery plus there was a slight incline to the course. So all the lads gave it a bash and only Big pete moved it a small amount . So it was replaced with my Van which was a good challenge on the surface. Novice lads used a rope , Open No rope. Plus lets not forget all the open lads had sweated blood prior to this trying to shift the truck. The van pull was perfect on the day and it made everyone work hard as they hit the midway point where the ground was still damp and more of an incline. The way we scored this in the open was Pete took first has he had slightly moved the truck all the other lads then went on the van to sort out the other places. Yoke for novices. 25 mtrs with 200kg. Hard work after the van pull but the lads all did really well with most fighting hard to complete the course, Apart from the pompy massive who seemed to fly with the thing. Gutsy performance award as to go to young Chris? once again. That lad did not even think he would lift the yoke but after telling him in no uncertain terms that he WILL lift it he then fought through every step , buckling several times but he made the course ![]() Fot the open we had the medley. And after the van pull this made several lads puke! 300kg yoke 15mtrs uphill, 120kg farmers 15 mtrs uphill then a HEAVY 130 / 140kg barrel 30 mtrs back to the start. Can't remember how many completed the course I know big pete and Shawn did and came within a few seconds of each other. Everyone dug really deep on this respect to young sam and Angry Ian who fought real hard to complete the yoke. Have to go out now, will post more later (max is bitchin that we need to go into town )

Ok thats done now whilst I have some dinner before getting back to work here's the rest. Medley out of the way, lads puking in the trees, TT devouring the sandwiches time to start the next event. Novices, 185kg 2" thick bar deadlift for reps. All I can say is Fucking hell there were some strong lads. Lads who you would think would snap were pulling out rep after rep after rep. I remember Mike B saying as we stood watching in disbelief " My deadlift is really shit" . The standards are getting higher and higher even in the novice ranks :repsect For the open lads it was the hoist. This was an event I have put some time and money into developing and getting right. And finally it now seems just fine. With the new £5.00 / meter rock climbing rope and new high load pulleys it worked just fine I did not load it as heavy as I could but kept it 'light' enough so the lads would have to work really hard over the full duration of the time available. 10 reps won and that was tied between I think Pete and Shawn although I may have that wrong. A real crowd pleasing event , huge support for all the lads. Loading event to end. All the lads were looking pretty fucked by this point but everyone dug real deep to end the comp in style. Loading onto the back of the trailer each item had to be stood upright. This was a real tough event. All in all an excellent comp with great support for everyone. All the helpers worked hard, Loz and Rob make great forklifts. I know on the yoke Mr Frampton was moving so fast taking it to the start I could not keep up with him with nothing on my back ! Mike Betty is always there not only giving his all throughout the day in setting up and resetting but as co owner at the Whey consortium they lend support with equipment and prizes. Not many would do that ![]() Will did a great job as Head ref, resetter, time keeper etc etc He gives everything to help this sport grow. Competes, opens up his training facility to all comers, supports at comps the man is a legend :respect. And Not forgetting the man himself The ferret . Superb job on the Mic and drew attention to my half naked frame at the start for which I'm thankful. The girls on the scoring made it look so simple that they should be employed by the WSC to sort out there fuckups. Al, you done good now it's my turn to put on a comp and I think I have the venue and sponsors sorted. |

Thanks Shawn, I was really pleased with how it all worked. The yoke worked great, First time tested in comp and it worked as planned ie, very quick to adjust the height for each competitor. As for the Hoist
