Hi Pete, my name would have fit quite nicely with those other Eastern European names but no phone call, no invite. Winning the UK under 105's doesn't seem to have any benefits to it which is a shame for all the 105's as there is no incentive to stay in that weight category |

Unfortunately Steve as UKs was'nt put on by IFSA you won't be invited (which sucks),but IFSA did'nt put on a U105 Britains either so everyone over here is fucked. Thanks to Mr Anderson and Mrs Lewis for putting together U105 Britains otherwise things for us little guy's would be even worse. |

It's only gay if you smile during the reach-around.

This competition is a complete bunch of bullshit as far as I'm concerned. I love the weights being heavy, and yes, I regularily train with the exact weights if not heavier, with the exception of the viking press. Why am I pissed you ask? Because of the simple fact that they don't even use some of those weights in the WSM!!!! Or even some of the weights that they DO use, it's virtually the same weight. farmer's walk (150 kg each hand - 40 meters) 2006 WSM - 265/hand viking press (repetitions - 130 kg) in 2005 WSM this was the weight used wheel flip (8 flips - 360 kg) This weight I can see conan's circle (360 kg) Ahh, hello you dumb organizers, they only go up to 660lbs in WSM truck pull (18.000 kg - 20 meters) This is a good weight but AGAIN, typically used in WSM joke race (360 kg - 20 meters) Good weight for a World Championship medley (sand bag carry, farmer's walk and wheel flip) Holy crap is this ever a ridiculous comp. Dennis

Why is is so ridiculous? I don't get what is rattling your cage? Trust me - these u105kg guys can handle those weights just fine. It is WSM has been on the light side in recent years. |

Everyone has been whining about 'light' contests for years, including WSM. Now a heavy contest comes and people still whine. So what if its heavier then WSM, hell NAS has been putting on contests that are heavier then WSM for years and they are for ametuers. Just shows that WSM is behind the times. |

If the weights are as true as they say they will be, then you will see some poor results in general. The tire flip yeah that works, conan's wheel you might see one revolution, farmer's walk - it will be boring because the MAJORITY won't be able to hoist the weight, let alone move with them or even quickly for that matter, Viking Press - if it's a true 286lbs on the hands you MIGHT see only a couple of reps (if I was a spectator I'd bored and think (why didn't they lower the weight by 10-15kilos and make it more interesting?). Oh well, obviously I'm going to get heat for this, usually I'm reserved on most things, I love heavy just as much as the next guy but someone who just wants to throw some weights together and have a championship is wrong. I personally don't care if you have a heavy comp, but these weight are suitable for an open class not a 105.Just my opinion. Dennis |

Sorry Dennis..but those weight are good for the 105s. I am sure most everyone there can do well with 330lbs per hand. Same with 286 on a viking press. I am sure the winner will a bunch of reps, depending on the apparatus and stuff. Most of the guys at the 105s can easily press a 300 log, and i find viking press is easier then log press. |

Fair play for having a pop about it mate but i do have to agree with Brent.I certainly could'nt do a lot of those weights but i'm not good enough to be at that level,i know me old pal John Fortey (u105kg athlete)used to be able to run 25m with a pair of 150kg farmers and i'm sure young Mr Stanislaus can too. |

I think you might be off a bit on that Dennis. Maybe in Canada the 105's would be out of it (not everybody though, I think) but I think the Euro's are a bit ahead of us. |
