Now you're boring us
Some guys from the P&B were getting together in Illinois last weekend for a final throws meet before moving to indoor track season. I figured I'd give it a shot, since I'm going to do indoor track this winter to stay in condition for the highland games next year.

It was a cold and windy day, but I had a good time and got to meet some cool guys.

First event was the 35lb weight throw. I did a single wind into one turn. Best throw of the day was 10.32m, or 33' 10.25". Got some good advice and it was suggested that I'm ready for 2 turns.

Next was the 56lb weight throw. I tried to turn this, but ended up doing the best with one wind and a release. Best throw was 6.22m or 20' 5". This is 2' farther than I've thrown the 56 in the highland games.

We moved on to the hammer. I tried one wind and one turn again, but I can't muscle this around like the weights. It requires alot more speed and technique. Best was 25.89m or 84' 11". My buddy Jon came along and put one out to 197' 3". It's crazy how fast he was turning.

I tried a few standing throws with the discus, just for fun, since I don't really know how to throw this yet. Ended up with 21.21m or 69' 7" with a 2kg disc.

We finished with my favorite, the shot put. My first 5 attempts were all over 9.5m, and I was getting frustrated. I managed a 10m (32' 9.75") glide on my last attempt. I definitely dig the glide more than the spin.

All in all it was a fun day. I'm planning to do a few indoor meets this winter, throwing the 35lb weight and the shot. This should leave me in good shape for the HG come spring.

I agree
Good stuff Jeff! I read that thread on the P+B, it kind of inspired me to try some indoor stuff myself this year.

Awesome, Jeff. Stick with some indoor stuff for the winter. It'll only help your HG.

Good stuff, Jeff. You'll be a world ahead of most guys next season.

That's excellent stuff Jeff. With what you were showing at the Ren Fest and some indoor throwing you will progress nicely and see some real distances on your throws next year. Stay healthy and have fun.
