I agree
Well Brent turned up, as did Jason Hallock- biggest meet ever in MB I was told, 26 in the open and 10 bench whores (I say with love, people so relax).
I only saw the squats for everyone- Brent had a little trouble with depth but got a 182.5, with two finished lifts called for depth at 192.5 Jason did 600+lbs, a guy named Stin from SK squatted 317.5kg.
two girls- also from SK- were putting up huge junior and sub junior numbers, one squatted 182 and the other hit 200kg- one's OPENING bench was 130kg. I believe one set at least one world record in the sub-J class.

Brock will no doubt correct me on my mistakes and hopefully Brent will fill in the blanks on his lifts.

Good to see all the PL folks again!

It was fun..that much i can say..and a learning experience..there are so many little things to remember when doing some of the lifts.

My squat was the worst part...my squat is crap anyway, but did even worse at the meet.

I got 400ish lbs for the opener..then missed my next atempt twice by not going low enough. I allways squat tell my bar hits the pins...so i allways know my depth...but without the pins..it was so hard to get the height. Need to train that way in the future...

Bench..well..opened with 300 lbs..then went to 330 i think..not sure actually..missed it first time..but got it second round. More or less happy with that..as i am not used to pausing so long at the bottom....

Deadlift...well..i think i went 505 535 570 and made each one. This was about the only thing i was happy about. At home if i get close to 500 i allways use straps....so i was worried..but..someone there told me "you have one of the best grips here...why on earth do you use straps" good point..amazingly..i learnt i do not need them at all. 570 is the most i have done in a long time..so ...cool. i changed my technique a bit..and pulled really really hard and fast of the bottom. the guys told me later that i was bending my arms cause of that...and that i should not do it like that....so guess i need to find a middle road or something.

The women were pretty impressive...amazing strength there.

Jason too was really good. i think he benched 450 or so and broke the manitoba record his first time out.

might give it a shot in a year...would hope to add at least 150 lbs to what i did yesterday...

1300 total, Brent. Nice work, man. Like you said, the first one is a learning experience. After that, it's all gravy.

Thanks Sean...

Look at my log of training leading up to the meet...bet no one there trained as much the week leading up to it...

Who, me? or Jason?

I did everything raw...cept belt...and wrist wraps for the bench.

Jason had a gimp suit on for that lift...and suit and knee wraps for the other stuff.

Good work, Brent. A learning experience, and some solid deads, too.
