Administrator and don't you bastards forget it
Going to be interesting to see the actual times / distances as there was very very little in it on all events.
I think on the conans and the hold it was very close between all the mid placings.
The log was split from 1 to 5 reps and the deadlift was down to how well you read the bend in the bar. I know andy could have easily pulled 360kg that would have put him 3rd but having said that I know a lot of the lads made their third lift and knew they could have pulled a lot more. The bar was just to bendy and it was impossible to guage what you could have done. I know I pulled out after a very easy 2nd lift with 300kg and if I was still in it I would have had no idea what I could have done on the third, I would certainly have tried 360kg. Still all made for a very close comp

I think Frank put up 7 reps but two were deducted I assume for not getting his head through. Not sure why in truth
I know I put up 1 before failing on the clean for rep 2
Nick and Andy put up 2 reps
Then third place made three reps. I asume second was 4 reps.

Just a word about the judging I think both Dave Brooks and Chaz Bruce did a great job. They were very fair, very strict and they were consistent in how they applied the rules. For the deadlift to count they wanted a good pull to almost ipf powerlifting standards which just shows how strong all the lads were in their pulls.

Yeah i totally agree Tom.I know i got the hump about the Conans but it was totally my fault and no one elses.Same with the log lifts, there were some gripes about it but i believe it was fair as we were told b4 each event exactly what was expected.

Colt who?
Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

Big thanks to the Portsmouth crew for putting on a top competition and for working their butts off all day...much respect.

Thanks to the Whey Consortium, Mike and Steve, for allowing me to train at their facility and for making me feel so welcome there.

Thanks to Lawrence and Harry for supporting me all the way...I think they were happier than me!

Thanks also to Martin and his wife Natalie for spending the evening with me the night before and to Anthony and Martin for coming up to the Whey the last 3 or 4 weeks to push me to new heights in my training.

Also I want to add that it was a shame Tom and Steve got injured...I would have loved to have finished the competition with you guys still fighting.

I had a great competition and pretty much stuck to my plan for the day.

I knew that there was no point in going crazy on the squat and I had the advantage in going last so I made sure of good points and 3rd place.
The log is my worst event and needs a lot of improvement. I was pleased to get a few reps but honestly that needs to be more like 10 reps. I spoke to Steve Stanislaus and he told me he had being doing 8-10 in training regularly!
The deadlift was a ringer for all of us. I felt I had around 50 kg left in me and I know others had plenty in the tank. I did like the equipment though, no complaints in that department.
The Conan's I just poured it on knowing I needed good points to be in with a chance of a top 3 place. Fortunately it was just enough to hold off Jack who was placing well the whole way.
The Farmer's Hold was an event I was expected to do well at and although I held on just enough to win, it was the most nervous I got all day.
We had no idea where we were going into the last event but I decided I could do all 5 stones and when Jack got all 5 I knew I had to be quick and make no mistakes. Somehow I managed to do just that and in the end my 3 wins at the end were enough to give me the title.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to meet everyone but it's tough to get around when your competing and at times the tension was high!

I look forward to next years season and to competing with you all again...

Congrats Nick I thought you was very impressive!!!

I'm gutted for Steve as I know how hard he'd trained for this. I think it'd have been a great showdown to add Steve to the mix with all the other quality guys there, but hey this is strongman and people get injured.

Again congrats Nick you did great.

Well done Nick!
Great performance, really gutted that I couldn't continue to fight it out with Jack, Frank and yourself. You must be well proud of what you have achieved because that was a heavy comp with the top 105's in it. Hope to meet up soon.

Steve you're a gentleman...it must have been tough watching the whole competition like that but you stayed the whole way and cheered us all on. Classy mate. It also means a lot for you to say it was a heavy competition with the best 105's there too...thank you.

I look forward to getting down to train with you and Terry next year as I know Big Lawrence wants to get down there. Hopefully you can get up to the Whey sometime too...all the best...

i`ll try the vaseline in the sock tonight
Right then here we go .
No excuses i didn`t train hard enuff going into this.

SQUAT 7 reps i think .
This was low & hard .Happy with 7 .
Ox is a fkin maniac so is Jack.

LOG well what can i say 5 wks ago i was struggling on 85k
& all that stopped me this time was the fact i thought i was John
Travolta.

DEAD 355k
Nobody knew what this was like so it was very hard guessing what to start at.
Karlsen had 400 i reckon.

CONANS
What a twat .Picked it up & dropped it straight out of my arms.No tech at all on this
event.

HOLD
60 SECS.Went first with the Ox & wanted to put it down after about 5 secs but held
in.Could talk shit & say i was saving myself or that i was trying to help Nick but
i couldn`t hold on any longer.

STONES
Embarassing .Totally spent by then.Just didn`t have the strength to put the 150 up.
Hamstring finally gave out on the 150.

Then a luxury 3 hr drive home in the fog, pissing down rain & to cap it all
the engine management light came on about 20 miles into the journey.
Great day with some quality athletes .
I was the only entrant who looked like he`d just walked in from the pub ;)
Hope Steve & Tom get better real soon.
Thanks 2 Paul Woods for the tips he gave me.
Thanks to Preacher Al for supporting me .
Thanks to the P.S.M.A for running such a smooth comp.
Nick QUALITY performance mate & thats the last time i lend you any tacky :P
:respect
