Rob, Things that have helped me over the years include... Pilates - excellent exercise in itself and I use many of the exercises as cool down work. Heat - before workouts on the damaged area. Ice - after workouts on the damaged area. Specific stretches - usually tight hip flexors are a key area to work on. Deep tissue massage - expensive and I haven't had one for years since the guy who did me was so good but moved away. Always felt better even if it was short term. Lunges and hypers - they still work the big hip, leg and back muscles without stressing the lower back and if worked with good weights they are not sissy exercises. TENS unit - I just bought one today and just used it for 15 mins and my lower back feels pretty damn good. Painkillers! This is the sort of stuff I come back to time and time again. I recently re-injured my back and am rehabbing myself. I hope some of this is of some use because I feel your pain! Nick |

Hi Rob sorry to hear that mate. You've got to do Core work and loads of it.I know your partner in crime Mr Lewis has said its bodybuilding when i've posted it b4 but its got to be done.Everyone should be doing it but people like you and me with these type of injuries need to do even more.It took me a couple of years to realise how important it is and how benificial it will be. Thanks to board member Sean (Frozenkilt) i now regularly do either Saxon side bends, suitcase deadlifts and best of all Diesel side bends which have really helped.I've also started doing lots of ab work on a stability ball. If you need any explanations for the exercises just PM me Rob. |
