Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is planning to re-release Grindhouse as two separate films - after the double-bill flopped at the box office. The film, a double-feature directed by Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez made just $11.6 million in its opening weekend in the US. Producer Weinstein is disappointed - and thinks Tarantino's Death Proof, starring Kurt Russell, and Rodriguez' Planet Terror, with Rose McGowan, will perform better on their own. He tells PageSix.com, "I don't think people understood what we were doing. The audience didn't get the idea that it is two movies for the price of one. I don't understand the math, but I want to accommodate the audience."

Well I ain't seeing it now- I wanted the double bill. I'm not paying twice.

I think a lot of people just weren't interested in the movies.

People probably didn't go because it has an amputee woman with a machine gun for a leg. That's one of my major reasons, at least.

Don't get me wrong, I love myself a B movie (amputee woman with machinegun legs included) but I don't pay money to see anything in the theatre that isn't going to be rediculously awesome.

Indeed. A good bad movie can be awesome, and I could see paying 8 bucks to see both just for the sheer oddball factor, but I don't think seperating them is going to generate any more revenue.

Besides, it's not a real B movie without Bruce Campbell.
