Not The Mama
Injured myself squatting on saturday.

I unracked the bar, chest out, head up ready to squat... there was a loud pop from the area of my bottom rib on the left side. Not immediately painful, just some discomfort, but got gradually more and more painful over the next few hours.

This morning, 48 hours after I did it, I have a dull ache from the area if I take a deep breath or twist my torso at all.

I would have said I'd just pulled a muscle, but I really felt (and heard) a "pop" when I did it.

Sounds ribcage related, the deep breath pain.

Dislocated rib or something.

Almost definately an intercostal muscle.

I did something similar benching (back in the days when i used to bench, lol). It still plays up now and again and hurts when i do dips.

I agree
Could be either- I'd lean towards the rib disloc. myself.

You didn't specify exactly where your pain is...if it's in the back (by the spine) it's definitely a "displaced" rib. Your chiro can pop it back in and do some ultrasound therapy to help it heal.

Like Dale said...hurts like a bugger when you breath or twist, and you can pop it back out of place just jogging across the street.
