The course as no relevance what so ever to the job, It's very easy and does not prepare you for the realitys of real door work it is purly a means to an end ie, to get the sia badge.
I also think col you'll be waiting a LOT longer than a few weeks for the badge as the SIA is a joke

And I know people woh have waited 6months + for the licence to comback!

What the SIA course is doing Dale is making more jacket fillers than ever before. I know people who have got their licence thanks to that course who you just would not trust in a real situation. People have the badge who have no idea what real violence is and I know would never be able to deal with it. But because of the course they think they will, They think all they have to do is offer 'a gift' and all the world is beautiful again.

Col, The course is a piece of piss, I was biting my top to try and stop laughing when I did the old part 1 (under council badges) the multi choice answers were that fucking stupid. Then in the second part you watch a video then answer some questions on it and you would have to be brain dead to fail.

However, once your out of the classroom learn the trade from an experience man and forget the course.

Learn the licensing act 2003 and how it applies, Don't bother with the course as most of the people with personnal liceses don't know the law. I have compiled a booklet on this that I was sending out to people needing to know this part of the job, I also have risk assesment procedures if you need them.

Colin, the Sia is a way of the Police etc to keep a track of the people doing the doors, nothing more. The tests are easy , but at least you get an nvq. They train you as the police do, ie, nothing is the way it is on the street. I started doing the doors in bristol at the age of 19 for Security Leisure. Just listen and take in, you'll never use it ever again. To be honest I havent met anyone whos failed yet? It then produces 9 stone door men who have never seen a fight let alone been involved in one, they have to be 9 stone so they fit though the toilet windows trying to get away from trouble.

From what i hear you pay your money listen to the bloke, then they guide you though the test and then you get your certificate 4-6months later.

Dale, they wouldn't give you a licence cos your a tad over 9 stone and wouldn't fit though the toilet window.
