I would like to think that we on this board have played are part in helping the sport of strongman grow over the last 6 years or so. We have become a source, more so in the uk, of information on comps, advice etc. We still intend to be that way long into the future but from now on if you want to see info in the training logs and competitions section then you need to join the board. members accounts that lie unused may be pruned from the system. To many feel they are entitled to a free ride in this sport well no longer on here. |

Right people are bitchin and saying we have made many of the sections of this forum members only just to create some form of empire. The reason we made this members only is very simple; We are sick of the general attitude in this sport that many seem to have adopted. That is they seem to feel that everything should be laid out on a plate for them without them having to do anything. Comps should be available for them to drop out from last minute. Can't be arsed to travel and watch local events that are put on, No need to help set up and pack down after comps. No need to contribute to the sport in any way just hand it to me on a plate so I can pick and choose what parts of the 'meal' I want and what parts i'll ask for them throw in the bin. Well screw it, The reason we went members only is to try and help people see that if they want to be part of the sport then be part of it. I was hoping people would be able to read between the lines and understand that this is a small, still growing sport and we need more to get it into their heads that we all have to play a part and not just lurk in the background, always expecting things to be there. So yes we are now members only for the strongman side of this board, Yes it is a gesture to illustrate a point; But it's a point worth making and I'm glad we did it even if it does affect membership. We are not just about numbers we are about doing all we can to make the sport grow and making the point that there is no free rides, all must play more of a role is a point well worth making. As for leaving the equipment side open for all to view; Once again some have to have a pop and say that this shows some form of hidden agenda. For fucks sake grow up. That side is not covered under the remit given above, nor is the training camps and several other sections. And another point; I've been doing kit, just about at cost for a few years now and I've made nothing out of it. I did it to try and help the sport grow because no other fucker was making the kit. Now I'm considering going back to my old trade to try and earn some money (I consider it all the more when some still think they should have a pop at me for selling the stuff!) as I think i've done my bit. If I do go back to a proper job would that prove this is not empire building. Fucking unbelievably. |

Please don't let these little minded people get you down Tom, If you make kit for people there should thank you, as it takes a lot of time away from your family and frenids. If you can make a living as well as help poeple out, good on you. I was let down my someone lately who i'm not going to name, and I belive that in not going to Ireland fo the UK finals, may have being hard and lost me a lot of friends in the sport. Well it din't, all the English lads understand what I was trying to do. What i'm trying to say is you must do wants best for you and the rest will fall into plan. We chouse the paths we lead in life, my path has come to a juntion, do I stay on the path I have follow for four years or do I take my own path, as I belive that I can only count on myself and my Elite strongman team to follow the path which (I belive) is for the good of this sport we all love.
