405 5x5 on the incline press

are you sure thats not a 505 for an incline press because I am sure Siders can do way more reps for 405 on the incline or was that an overhead type press?

I'm sure you are correct... I just posted what I found, just a messenger not an observer at the scene. He might just be staying at a weight that is slighty higher then the 366 Apollon though in training and trying to get reps up high.
My guess is he will be aiming to get 10 reps or so, just a guess on my part. And four tires on the DL which is 1062. Last year he would have gotten the 4 tires, but came up too fast and the bar whipped up and then down fast which pulled him back down after stopping his momentum. So he just has to pull it nice and slow, take advantage of the bend and not let it work against him.

It would be crazy if he asks for 1062 on his 2nd lift and then hits it and goes for 1100 or more for his third.

Yeah I asked about that, and it was mentioned that the time is a little too late, maybe next year..

Also, bump Derek's DL in training conventional to 880lbs (400kg) ..he just hit it a couple hours a ago. It was videotaped by one of his training partners and should be up soon.

<------ SDF sucks, because of this picture...

I know the score, but was hoping you'd have pity on me... :puppy

I'm just having some fun with the avatars, nothing serious. The past two have been pretty funny.... funny haha, and funny queer.

“I Own the Arnold!” by Randall J. Strossen, Ph.D. | ©2007 IronMind

No - Zydrunas Savickas did not say that, at least not to IronMind®, but let’s face it: With his string of wins, the Arnold strongman contest seems like pretty comfortable territory for the man who once told Randall Strossen, “Why squat if you can’t do 400 kg?”

Zydrunas Savickas seems invincible at the Arnold, but will he win the strongman contest yet again? A lot of people think he will, but however it ends up, it should be quite a contest.

For a preview of what to expect, IronMind® invited IFSA managing director Christian Fennell to cast his vote, and he’s calling for IFSA to sweep the podium.

”1, 2 and 3 . . . I think you have to give Big Z [Zydrunas Savickas] the advantage as this event is definitely his playground,” Fennell told IronMind®, “as he has proven over the last five years. However, Vasyl [Virastyuk] is hungrier than I have ever seen him and he is definitely one guy you don't want to come up against when he is in peak shape, mad and hungry.” Fennell continued. “As for Misha [Mikael Koklyaev], I know he is tired of being the IFSA Strongman bridesmaid, so pick your order, but it is these three again on the Arnold's 2008 podium.”

”4, 5 and 6: Bennie [Benedikt Magnusson] will be the big surprise here, cracking this group of three, but the battle will be between [Andrus] Murumets and DP [Derek Poundstone], two very explosive and powerful guys who are without a doubt champions in waiting.”

”After six,” Fennell said, “well, who ever remembers anyway.”

Whoever is your pick, remember this: The 2008 Arnold Sports Festival is February 29 - March 2 . . . see you there!

He doesn't ever get bored with saying shit like this does he??

Only 2 non-IFSA guys in the line-up and he's still not letting off!!

It seems to me that he is the only person that actually gives a shit!!

Hello Terry, your old stone maker here you say your deadlift is going to be good ,what about your stone lifting ?

Benedikt's pressing looks very impressive in that video and the one he has showing his Axle pressing. He only shows one rep of the Axle, and it is described as the final rep...! It looked very solid. At 2006 Arnold, Benedikt got 2 reps with the Axle and 1 rep on the Circus Dumbbell....it certainly looks like he will improve upon those performances.
This throws a nice little grenade into the mix...

I believe the discussions for airing this contest live over Strongman.TV are ongoing still and that a conclusion should be reached soon maybe by end of the week..

This will be great if it happens. Fit-expo highlights are confirmed as well, which is a bonus.

This contest has the making of one of the best ever.
You’ve got 3 main challengers Virastyuk, Savickas and Koklyaev. 3 very capable performers in Murumets, Benny, and Pekanov both of whom will be very solid performers, and could easily place in the top 3

2 Darkhorses in Poundstone, and Terry as they’ve never done this type of contest before but are very capable of pulling off some great performances.

Then there’s Sider’s who’s expected to be awesome in the deadlift and Axle, but who’s got the ability to do very well in the frame, yoke and dumbbell press. He would have won the yoke last year had he not dropped it 2 yards from the line.

That’s 9 people who’ve got a genuine chance of winning this contest, you don’t exactly see that very often. And Phister’s not exactly a slouch on any of the events.

There are at least 5 people I expect to do 6 or more reps with the axle Virastyuk, Savickas, Siders, Murumets and Koklyaev.

And 6 people I expect to deadlift over 1000lbs, Savickas, Siders, Benny, Terry, Pekanov and Koklyaev.

I think that one of the most interesting events will be the manhood stones, as this could really separate the field and no-one really knows how good people are on very heavy stones (except for last years results and Derek’s video of him lifting a huge stone)

Just wondering, in case you wanted to...if you could ask one question to any Arnold strongman athlete, who would it be and what would you ask..?

I think I would ask Siders what has he been doing different in his
deadlift training the last 1.5 years or so that has lead to some big
gains in his deadlift.

Garrick Daft post on marunde:

Zydrunas is looking on the dime dialed in. Very wide shoulders and extremely narrow waist, very trim. Seems to have pulled everything in tight...he will be tough to beat this year...
Derek's pec is feeling better and the doc hasn't called to report any major tear or anything so he should be competing tomorrow. He pulled 1st to go on the Timber..
Mikhail, Andrus, Vasyl, Siders, Van, Pfister, Pekanov all are looking great and in shape..
Mikhail has nicknamed the Timbers the "Dream Killer"...haha
Benedikt is 383lbs!!!
