In the rugby match on Saturday, I think I bruised my heel. I don't know how it happened and I don't remember any blunt force that may have caused it. I simply had a 70m breakaway and when I got up, it hurt like a motherfucker to put any weight on my heel. By the end of the match, I could barely walk. Anyone have any experiences with bruised heels? Breaking the calcaneus requires some pretty blunt force and I know I didn't get any of that, so I'm pretty sure it's just bruised. The pain is posterior-lateral with no issues at the achilles insertion point (that was the first thing I checked). I've got an appt on Friday, but I'm just curious if anyone has any info ahead of time.

I guess I swing both ways...I know where my monkey is going

You might have a really nasty bone spur. Or plantar fasciitis. Good luck with your appt on Friday

I bruised my heel once from a bouldering fall. Painful enough to make me wonder if I'd broken it, like you say, barely able toi walk at first. Took about four to six weeks to totally heel, certainly I wouldn't have wanted to run (or play rugby) within at least the first 4 weeks. Was able to squat and DL with only some disomfort after two to three weeks though. |

peroneal tendons run lateral to the calcaneus down around the lateral maleolus, any pain exhibited when you dorsiflex the foot against resistance? |

None whatsoever. I'm pretty sure it's just a contusion. I'll guess I'll just have to shake the sand out of my vagoo, tape it before training, and deal with it until I see the doc on Friday and know for sure what's wrong. |

Sounds like a stupid thing to say but don't fuck with your feet. Got a suspected stress fracture myself at the moment, so I (literally) feel some of your pain. |
